Excited about trying the Calera, sounds like a white I’d like (prefer reds). Don’t watch sports; will be sharing a meal with friends tomorrow PM outdoors in the gorgeous fall weather, cheeses, a stew, etc, don’t yet know what they’ll be serving to drink but probably some hearty reds & some dark beers.

One of these days we’ll share a glass together…!

QOTD: Since the temps in GA have dropped a bit and its still rather rainy out, we’re going with the Rock & Vine Three Ranches cab… but I’m sure I’ll be having a ton of tea to ward off the chill, too!

QOTD: Dessilani Gattinara 2000 vs. Hess Grand circle 2005 Cab. Very different wines, but nice to taste the difference once in a while.

QOTD – Robert Foley Charbono 2006. Nuclear fruit bomb but interesting chocolate cherry thingy going on. The finish is like the sustain on Jimmy Page’s Les Paul.

Calera? Pnot Noirs that always delever – even the entry level one. But much better is the Mt. Harlan Viognier.

QotD – most likely, some IPAs, some Bell’s, maybe a Brahma.

Nice show on the battle of the Chardonnays.
My go-to Chard used to be Frallon (Central Coast CA), but I am told that they are no longer in business. Super bummer, as I found it a great value at about $9 to $10 a bottle.
As I like the Oak/buttery taste in my Chards, the Calera might fit the bill, but retails in DC for about $17 per. Hummmmmmm.
QOTD.- Weekends are reserved for Cooks Brute Sparkling, and Trentatre Rosso 33, an Italian Blend.
They will be enjoyed, NOT watching football.

Usually it’s beer with football and some may smirk but the house beer is ice cole Budweiser. Go sue me.

Gary, I was pleasantly surprised this morning when I saw a beautiful PAGE 1 article about you in the Philadelphia Inquirer. Put me in a good mood from square 1. You ‘an Cap’n Crunch.

White wines are really not my speed.. as I’m trying a Muscadet for the first time. Meh, as you would say. The only white I’ve had lately that really did enjoy was the Swiss Chateau D’ Auvernier Neuchatel Blanc.

I always hope to see someone beat the Bills! QOTD — not certain what I’m cooking, so uncertain what I’ll pair!

  • First, it was great to see you at the book signing. Pouring down rain, runny around like a gypsy to find you but alas, I made it.

As you said, serviceable chards which is all I ask for these days and these two hit the spot. Quite nice.

QOTD: Let’s see, I’m having a Fess Parker Syrah that is quite good as a matter of fact. I’m doing stuffed pork chops with cranberries and raisins so it should pair well.

    Cheers!

P.S. Please get off the “16-7” scores. You know why. 🙂
