Awesome episode! Canadian wines seem unique.

What do you think makes them special?

Been to Western Canada a few times. Got a lot of Relatives East of
Edmonton, Alberta. Looooove the Banff & Jasper National Park Areas.
    Never been to Toronto, though……

Last night, had the 2nd of Two bottles of Domaine Weinbach Schlossberg
Riesling 2003 I bought this Summer. The First Bottle I drank was Super,
maybe 92 or 93 pointer, But this Second Bottle seemed oxidized/flawed
for some reason. What a Bummer! Oh well, a Perfect World it Ain’t….. 🙂

Can’t say much about Canada, never been. I had a 2005 Chateau Faugeres a couple nights ago at home with my wife and mom. We just had some olive bread and cheese with it. I’d give it a 94, really enjoyed it. I’m glad I have a few bottles left.

  • Ah, props on giving props to Canada – it’s starting to come around up here. I’ve written a lot about the South Okanagan lately and have posted a lot of tasting notes and scores.

Last wine? A sample of saskatoon wine I currently have on oak, which is sitting in the low-mid 80s, but is too young and I’m too inexperienced to know where it will end up in a couple years.

It was GREAT seeing you in Toronto yesterday.

We really enjoyed our interview and look forward to getting together in January.

Glad to see this episode! I had been looking for one since you mentioned on Ustream you might. Congrats on the NYT, I still wish you’d bring the book tour to Ohio!!

You should post a picture of Misha in her Halloween costume on Twitter!

QOTD1: Love Canada/Toronto. I was there back in ’04 on a band trip- Canada doesn’t seem to have marching bands, so they absolutely adored us and were too kind. Can’t wait to go back.

QOTD2: 2003 Chamarré Jurançon Tradition (a dessert wine) which I gave 91 points and was absolutely heavenly.

    Fun show.

QOTD: Love Canada – but that’s easy being Canadian. Toronto, not so much, but that’s easy coming from B.C.! Go Canucks

QOTD Part II: Novelty Hill 2006 Cabernet. Score = 88.

  • Glad to hear that others love Canada as much as I do.

QOTD1 – Love Canada. I was in Montreal last week and it was amazing. Visited Toronto a few years back and it is also beautiful. Wonderful people from that country.

QOTD2 – Last wine I had was a 2006 Wolf Blass Gold Label Shiraz. It was rated 91 points. I liked it, but probably about 88-89 points worth.
    Thanks Chris

    Hey Gary-

Big fan of Canada, growing up 30 miles from Detroit we spent many a weekend in Windsor before turning 21! The beer is great, the women are smoking hot, and the best fresh water fishing in the world.

Toronto is a great city. Clean, safe, great night life and shopping, and a kick ass zoo!

I’m hoping to get to the Niagra area soon. I’m really excited about the area and their wines too. Love the ice wine.

  • Quirky video but I loved it. Good to see no monsters under the bed too.

QOTD: I love Canada’s west coast, but never made it East to Toronto or even central for that matter. I’ll have to check out their wines, don’t think I’ve ever had one.

QOTD 2: El Puntido Rioja, 90pts for me.

    Happy Halloween, Gary and crew.

PS- You should dress Misha up as a grape (how fitting)… 🙂
