lines of the day – ‘this really does smell like a sheep pooped in your nose’ and ‘I feel like “my tummy’s burning” like Ralph on the Simpsons’

Another winner, GV really on point during these back-to-back taped episodes. Mott looking for the correct response at the end and floundering as usual

Yeah don’t know what RP was thinking, maybe about the Fox chard which is
killer at 12 bones. Oh well.

QOTD: I will be working all afternoon/evening. However, I am big on
red Burgundy for turkey day. These light reds go well with the bird
and really hold up to the earthy side dishes.

Garry. You champ. I just went traveling for 9 months, came back and you are still on the air. I was worried you may have moved on to another project. Good to be back to the viewership.

Sadly thanksgiving is a non-event in Australia.

“. . . the “galaxies” most passionate wine program.” I like that. Good show.

As for Zins, not my bag due to their “hotness” for the majority of wines out there except for Haywood Los Chamizal which I love.

QOTD: I am the “wine voice” at Thanksgiving with this side of the family, the sister-in-laws house, and I will bring the annual Flowers Pinot, a bottle of Beaujolais Nouveau (I love it after the Flowers) and a nice white which I’m awaiting to choose from one of your reviews between now and then. Probably a Gewurtz from Alsace.

    Cheers!

P.S. The Falanghina from a few shows ago, delish!!!!! I’m having it now. You da man!

Why don’t you just have a water bottle to do the rinsing! Seeing the waste of wine makes me cringe!

  • Not into Zin…except, I was blown away by Coturri Vineyards about 10 years ago. I’ve never found anything so intense since then. Generally though, the alcohol content is a little to steep for my tastes.

I’ll be in Cleveland this Thanksgiving with my sister, brother-in-law and their new born. I was probably going to take a few bottles of Murphy-Goode Liar’s Dice 2006 Zin or a few of the bottles of Seghesio Sonoma County 2007 I have left. Kinda want to let them sit and try them in a few years though.

  • QOTD: My parents’ house. Yes, she does in fact make juicy turkey, and sausage stuffing, and homemade cranberry sauce, and “snowy potatoes,” and I can’t wait!!!

As far as my contribution to the wine at the thanksgiving table, I am in dire need of suggestions. Odds are good I will simply choose whatever moves me on Thanksgiving day on my way over.

Good show! happy to see you back at home even if you have to tape back to back to back to back etc. episodes!

QOTD: I’m hosting folks from both sides of the family. I’m serving pinot noir and gewurtztraminer. I haven’t specifically chosen which wines but I have plenty of choices in the cellar.

Wearing the same shirt for back to back shows makes me laugh or at least smile a little.

  • For me, Zin is all about summer barbeques – rubbed ribs and tri-tips.

When it comes to Thanksgiving Day wines I tend to go with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay (sometimes Viognier) which is why I’m heading up to the Russian River in Sonoma this Saturday to find me some killer Pinots in another Adventure in Wine Tasting.

    Love the show!

    Crushing IT!
