lines of the day – ‘this really does smell like a sheep pooped in your nose’ and ‘I feel like “my tummy’s burning” like Ralph on the Simpsons’

Another winner, GV really on point during these back-to-back taped episodes. Mott looking for the correct response at the end and floundering as usual

Hangin’ at my parents with my insanely large extended family, certainly bringing some wine. Tonight’s Cinderella, which sounds interesting enough will be one of them. I literally just ordered some Deloach because it sounds like my dad’s kind of wine, and I’m thinking maybe that CW Chilean Pinot from the other day. hmmm… decisions.

Glad to see some distance between you and RP — on the Foxglove, of course, but on anything else for that matter.

Please resist the hegemony of Wine Spectator, the global Mondavi octopus, the vino-industrial complex, and, of course, the %$#@$# Oak Monster.

Micro-oxygenators, barrel twirlers, mass marketers, and wine manipulators everywhere: beware! We know your game!

    Back to terroir!!!!

Like you said last time, Gary, let the vineyard speak for itself.

QOTD: I’m staying home with my sweetie. Haven’t decided what to drink yet. I’ll figure it out on Thanksgiving morning, down in the cellar with a cup of black coffee.

Keep pumping out the shows Gary. Never mind about the shirt.

Thanksgiving was some time ago here in Canada and instead of the usual dried out turkey we had a slow roasted prime rib with three Napa cabs, which were all quite good – but what wouldn’t be in the speldor of the Canadian Rockies.

Happy birthday in a couple days – hope you will do a show from your birthday party where you are drinking the wine and not spitting.

Good call on the pazzz – I don’t know the Foxglove, and both DeLoach and Seghesio are certanly both well known, and respected for their efforts, particularly in the world o’ Zin. But for a Heritage holiday which may carry so much (?) meaning for so many in America,w/ Zin, I say up the bar, to the world of Biale, Franus'(Brandelin),Chase… somethin’ with a little (!) more cache, if you will. aren’t your loved ones worth it?
But for the minions for whom it doesn’t really matter… well, they’re prob. not even readng here, so anything they choose will be just fine. And to whomever brings such wines to my sister’s house for TG day, I’ll try to, graciously as I can, if not uncermoniously, accept their offering, love, and comeraderie, and enjoy the greater meaning of the whole thing.
And if it’s DeLoach, I’ll hope for the OFS.
And if it’s Seghesio, I’ll hope for the Cortina. Or the Rockpile.

  • Nice one…two very entertaining shows in a row!

I’ll be staying in SF for Thanksgiving…maybe drinking some Cru Beaujolais, or some Touraine Gamay, Vouvray, Jura? Probably most things but Zin.

QOTD: Thanksgiving is at my house. I’ll be cooking and family will be coming over. Tried to get a dry moscato, but it sold out. I had a Red Tail Ridge dry riesling from NY that I think would work well. Usually try to go with American wines for this holiday. Maybe a Cali pinot for the red. Many of the Zins I have are a little over the top for Turkey but I do love them.

QOTD: Staying home and hosting my bro-in-law and his family. Have not decided on the wine yet – looking for something of a change from last year’s Zinfandel.

Canadian Thanksgiving long over, but we spent it on Trout Lake in Northern Ontario with family and friends where I live and had the 2007 Vineland Estate Elevation Chardonnay at 25 Canadian Bones, one of my favourites wines from Niagara, Brian Schmidt is doing amazing things on the Niagara Bench. The wine is Chablis Like in its minerality and acidity, but not quite as dry, just a hint of residual sugar, and completely done in stainless steel. Great Turkey wine. For those who insist on the red, i love all colors, had the 2006 Dom de la Madone, Beaujolais Villages-Le Perreon at 15 Can$’s, a great little wine but just starting to decline a bit, was better a year ago. As for Zin I do not have enough experience, did really love the Rosenblum ?Northern Coast a couple of years ago, again it had a little residual sweetness which i love. Thanks Gary, Joel
