line of the day – ‘what I can do is just be honest’

Guest is obviously a good guy if somewhat overawed. Best moment is Mott making his directoral debut by instructing GV to ‘move the bottles’ out of the way of the guest. Who’d have thunk it?

  • Very cool ep, and great question. I’ll be happy to watch that movie when I can get my hands on it up here.
QOTD: If you eat in my home, you know where you are. Pairing calf moose tenderloin carpaccio with Okanagan Syrah just doesn’t happen in California.

Awesome QOTD! I’m from Miami, FL and I like to think that I’ll always have something of the relaxed Miami atmosphere just below the surface. It may not always be visible, and I may be crazy and stressed and worried sometimes, but pop on a pair of RayBan Wayfarers, slip into some linen shorts and a bright polo, and I’m right back on Miami Beach without a care in the world, just enjoying the day.

QOTD: From the Dirty Jerz. So. Plainfield to be exact. Still live in the state. I take the hustle-bustle fast pace around with me.

QOTD: OK, being from Madison, we had 24″ while Milwaukee had 18″, but I do know what you are talking about. I think there is something special about Badgers. No matter where we go, we are still cheese eating, beer drinking Badgers.

    Hmmm

My comment didn’t seem to load.

    QOTD:

I’m from North Yorkshire in England. I think we take about, honesty and generosity as well as good old fashioned commom sense. We’re probably not the most cosimpolitan people and probably a bit behind the times, but we do see things in a practical way and dont worry too much about rules, we just get on with things the best way we know how.

I wrote that and it didn’t load so i’ve put it up again now i’m home, i hit a cat on my way home and i hurt it quite badly but i picked the guy up in a blanket and took him home. I rang the vet and took it round and she was happy to look at it and she was really glad i’d brought it in. Maybe that’s just a love of animals, but i think its a bit of yorkshire in her.

Not much to do with wine though but we do have vineyards, go Yorkshire Heart Vineyard!

  • Wow, 66 peeps and only a few Canucks… Gary, get the flip cam and hit the streets, I’m dying to see a road show episode (I’ll hit the archive until you come through!)

QOTD – East coast of Canada, arguably some of the friendliest folk this half of North America. I take with me a sense of responsibility to help people in all walks of life, and wish people waved to strangers as they drive by like back home, beyond friendly!

  • QOTD: My Terroir is Brooklyn. What I bring from Brooklyn in the wine aspect is actually a Merlot! I make my own merlot from Long Island.

QOTD: Bay Area California Berkeley San Francisco Oakland I feel as if I have an expansive idea of humanity and its possibilities. If you live there, you know there are views everywhere you go– up to the hills out to the bay out to the bridges and the fog that comes in and out. I look at the big picture wherever I go and it comes from growing up in a place where the vistas are never-ending.

Do you talk about the Seinfeld episode?
    “Mickey: I like Merlot.

    Karen: I love Merlot.

    Julie: I’m crazy about Merlot.

    Kramer: I live for Merlot.

    Waiter: We’re out of Merlot.”

    Did that help Merlot sales?

GREAT GUEST!!! Probably one of my favorites. I love his hustle and how he track GV down at a book signing and made GV do an interview. Loved the QOTD. My terrior is from So. California just East of Los Angeles. When I grew up there there were a lot of open fields, vineyards, and orange groves. I went to a school that was very diverse and offered a lot of learning opportunities and of course the beach just helps you slow down and enjoy everyday of your life.

Nice show on Merlot, love a good merlot, too bad they are few and far between IMO.

QOTD: The Mountains of Souther VA, gotta say it made me much more resilent and gritty than all those northerns I put up with in DC. Talk about millennials.

QOTD: Personal Terroir- GREAT concept and question! I currently live in LA, but I’m from RI and will NEVER forget my VERY small-town New England roots. I’ll always take with me the concept of working hard to earn ANYTHING, as I’ll never forget starting my own little landscaping business at the age of 10, doing noble gruntwork on a local farm and for my town’s Department of Public Works every summer to save up for my first car, and eventually delivering pizza and bartending to get my through college and across the county to pursue what I am passionate about. No matter where I end up, I’ll never forget my family and close lifelong friends, and where I came from.
