line of the day – ‘maybe that’s why I’m such a girly kind of guy…because I drink so much wine’

Some interesting info about the health properties of wine but I found the guest lacking a bit of personality

    Gary, Dr. Perricone,

I really enjoyed this episode. The more I know about wine the more I seem to enjoy it.

QOTD: cinnamon is likely the answer(thanks for the hint Gary) but kind of hoping that answer is Apples.

I’ve read that (here goes the pinot drum again) pinot noir contains some of the highest resveratrol numbers because it grows in cooler damper areas where fungus is a threat. Makes sense, eh? Maybe Sauternes will be the ticket then but at a significant $ cost. I hope Gary tasted Ontario when visiting Toronto for the Jets game. Terroir! Try Clos Jordanne if you haven’t yet, Jancis has.

Interesting stuff! The doctor seems to be a really nice guy.

QOTD: Seems to be cinnamon. Always a spice I’ve enjoyed. I’ll be adding more of it to my diet!!!

I take a quarter teaspoon cinnamon with lemon juice added to hot water every morning–the docs say this helps stablize blood sugar levels.

Cinnamon is also good for keeping ants away from your kitchen/garden. They don’t seem to like it at all.
When I monitor my blood pressure it will go down nicely after a couple glasses of wine.
    Great show!

First guest I’ve seen you intimidated by, Gary. What is it about doctors that does that to people? I didn’t much like the dynamic here, and I thought the show as a whole was pretty stilted. I did like that you poured yourself a second glass, though. Maybe after you had that, the show would have relaxed a bit. Just wasn’t feeling the thunder this time at all.

    QOTD: Pazzzz.

Nice twist to the wine education. Note to self: Drink more wine πŸ™‚

My question back….do different red wines offer more or less benefits. Darker reds better than lighter reds?

  • Very informative show and alot of fun. No bucket? Nice.

QOTD: Both you and the Doc answered your own question. I have read cinnamon is very beneficial but not to the effect of not raising sugar levels.

Good show, keep up the educational aspect.

    Cheers! (with food)

Great episode! Love the guest and the info.
I am also a diabetic (type 2) and have found that since I gave up beer drinking in favor of red wine I have had much more stable blood glucose levels – during and after imbibing. I feel that the key to healthy living is moderation. I strive to strike a balance in all things that I put in my body. There are no substances that when over-indulged in have a healthful benefit – particularly alcohol.
QOTD: I have had a love of cinnamon for as long as I can remember and will continue to enjoy it guilt-free.
