lines of the day – ‘Bunny Sniffs’ and ‘On the tart-o-meter this is off the charts’

Solid episode, GV helped out the guest a little more than he usually does…can’t blame him.

  • Great guest, great show. Totally need to try more wines from South Africa.

QOTD1: Already answered, though I knew it.
QOTD2: I like both…the mezcal tasting at Mesa Grill was good, but at Topolobampo in Chicago…amazing. On the tequila side, I prefer Don Julio’s line to some of the more domestically available Cuervo and Sauza.

  • GV, this is one of my favorite shows. It reaffirms that there are many, many people like Serena who like wine, drink wine but still are not sure of themselves around wine. I love to help people enjoy wine to the fullest and if they happen to be hot ladies who smile and sip tequila…all the better.
One thing Gary, if you are disappointed with the wines how come you give them such high scores? just askin…

GV loved the show. I have not had the mezcal so i cannot choose between the two. I do enjoy Patron Silver. I always love when you have guests who are pure and tell it like it is. Thanks

  • Nice show! Love the guest and how you educated her on the wines.

QOTD: Not a tequila drinker. . . sorry!

She has great color eyes. Loved those. Sorry you couldn’t find more reasonably-priced wines for the show. What about Santa Carolina Reserva Carmenere? $10 from Chile, and very interesting, a fun drink.

    QOTD: No idea.

Cool show! Great guest, funny moments throughout, interesting wines, good knowledge.

I remember Serena from her MTV News days back in the 90s 🙂

I believe that the difference is that Tequila is made from the Blue Agave and Mezcal can be distilled from any Agave. Don’t quote me on that because I don’t have time to google. I don’t have a preference it just depends on the mood or occasion.

I am a confessed lurker and told you so last night in Atlanta at your book signing. It was such a thrill to meet you face to face, so I decided to post a comment for ya – as requested. Maybe this will open the door for me, and I won’t be so shy anymore!

I can’t really answer the QOTD, but in regards to tequila talk – I recently went to two different wine dinners here in Atlanta. Both of the wineries (Reynolds Family & Lambert Bridge) started off the dinner with tequila shots and at least 1 type of tequila mixed drink. They said they did it to honor the workers and in fields, which I thought was a fun touch to the beginning of the night. However, by the end of dinner, I didn’t remember much about the wines! Whoops! Tequila (for me) = The Devil.

Gary, thanks again for coming to Atlanta! We hope you come back for another visit on your next book tour.

  • Serena, what party school did you go to w the tequila?? hahaha

QOTD: All tequilas are mezcal, not all mzscal is tequila (just like champange is to sparkling wines) AND NO I didn’t look it up on Google.

I’ve had great mezcal, the problem is it’s not as widely available in the US as the mass-marketed tequila. I’ll go with the best quality not marketing.

Tequila has been distilled one more time and usually the better ones are aged as well. I like both and depends how I feel that day.
