89/100

lines of the day – ‘Bunny Sniffs’ and ‘On the tart-o-meter this is off the charts’

Solid episode, GV helped out the guest a little more than he usually does…can’t blame him.

I agree with ERIC. Loved that last frame cheesy smile. Keep up the touchy-touchy and Lizzy will be cutting off your arms.

QOTD: Not a fan of either but love beautiful women that are. 😉

I would definitely drink Tequila with Miss Altschul. And I do not like Tequila.

Tequila is better. There is a restuarant in Cancun called La Distileria and they have a Tequila list. There are a few of the high-end tequilas that range in the 30 to 50 bucks a shot. I’ve gotten to have a few of those and spicy honey is all you taste with a bit of heat from the alcohol. Amazing stuff.

    Mezcal tastes dirty…

  • Great show.. I obviously remember Serena from MTV News back in the day.

QOTD: I’m a big Tequila/Mezcal and wine lover. Tequila is Mezcal but the opposite isn’t always true.
Mezcal tends to drink like wine more so than tequila in the tasting, flavor notes and aromas. The oakiness is much more present in Mezcal just like an Anejo and Reposado tequila. I have friends that have big food and wine pairings in Mexico with different Mezcals from Oaxaca. Something to look out for.
Check out this website http://www.factoriadesantos.com/index.php/proyectos/detalle/2.php developed by a friend featuring a fantastic Mezcal which is helping smaller families/producers survive where industrialized producers are becoming more aggressive.
    Salud!

QOTD1: Others have already explained the difference. Basically, tequila is made only from the blue agave, and made almost exclusively in Jalisco (with minor exceptions in Guanajuato and Tamaulipas). Mezcal can be made anywhere, and from other agave species.

QOTD2: I prefer tequila, and then only 100% agave tequila (none of that cane sugar crap). Mezcal, even some of the “high-end” stuff that I’ve tried in Mexico, always gives me a massive headache within an hour. Really good tequilas don’t do that. Cazadores or Patrón with Cointreau can make a really nice margarita.

QOTD: Can’t say I knew the difference until I looked it up. Almost never drink hard liquor (had a few nights where several hours ceased to exist and I ended up in random places with no idea how I got there- think shady gas station in Allston, MA). However, once in a while I will have some nice Tequila. Never had a Mescal.

  • She’s sweet and cute and swallowed. And was a great guest. Great smile.

Good review of the wines. I like the blank background, nice table cloth, big axx glasses.
Nice that TIVO can capture it now, I really like seeing this on my TV, while I comment on my PC. cool.

QOTD: I like the high end – to sip. If it’s a T-sunrise, then low end.

QOTD 1: From what I understand mezcal is made by roasting the agave plant and tequila is made by steaming it, which gives mezcal it’s smoky, earthy character and tequila a more clean flavor. But that was just something I think I picked up while at a cantina in a Mexican restaurant. Who knows.
QOTD 2: Tequila. 100% agave. Reposado. Ice. Enough said.

Anyone who would put ice in wine should be annihilated. But especially her.

Boekenhoutskloof produce some great value wines such as the Wolftrap and Porcupine Ridge as well as the Chocolate Block. My fav though is their Syrah. Not too sure if you see much of it over in the US but well worth seeking out. Rhone like structure and complexity. I get it from the Wine Society in the UK but the first place I tried it was oddly enough at a place in London near the Tower called The Wine Library.

Surprised the Semillon didn’t show better – would be interesting to revisit in a year or so.
