Hi GV!! Welcome back!! We missed a lot your wine insights this 5 years. Being an original Vayniac, and thru all this years asking for you to come back, its very nice to see everything changed for the best. Hope the family is very well, Sasha, AJ, Lizzie and Misha (a little baby when you stopped WLTV)! I myself, have a lovely couple babies at home, 30 month old boy and 8 month old girl. Hope WLTV is back to stay!! QOTD: 2012 Quinta Maria Izabel tinto, Douro. Great wine!

How about an episode where Gary wears a blind making it a literal blind taste for him so that he goes purely off of his other senses like smell and taste?

    Great show.
Wishes for 2010: keep changing the wine world. More wines in the $8 to $12 range.

Definitely more double blind tasting, like the idea of keeping it old school as well. Was going to put away my vayniac cabs, but will definitely open one soon after watching this episode. BTW I saw your dad directing traffic the other day, said hello as I pulled out of the parking lot! Happy holidays!

Great show. Suggestion for next year shows, selfish obviously. My sister, father and I are planning bike trips with wine country. These are getting more popular with the growth of wine. You could dedicate a week to a random “Bike Trip” and really nerd it up.

For example: Bike trip of Loire valley 2-4 tastings each day.
    Mon: ANJOU, BOURGUEIL
    Tue: CHINON, COTEAUX DU LAYON
    Wed: MUSCADET, POUILLY-FUME
    Thu: SANCERRE, SAUMUR
    Fri: TOURAINE, VOUVRAY

of course, you need to breakout the Springbok jersey again and have a head-head-head tri-nations matchup!

AWESOME SHOW….. Mott is always a sight for sore eyes. Glad to give the wishlist for 2010.

    1) Absolutely 100% blind for 2010. But don’t forget to nerd it up at the end so the peoples learn.

    2) Have a Vayniac on the show once a month. Especially Wayno da Wino, he seems like a hoot. This would definitely encourage more lurkers to come out of the shadows if their comments had some weight in them possibly meriting an experience on The Thunder Set.

    3)More Sasha

4)More Wine Library parking lot shows

5)More food pairing suggestions. This is at the heart of the art of wine and a key to understanding old world styles.

6)Would love to see Old World vs. New World steel cage matches. It would be great to see a dedicated Old World winemaker and New World winemaker trade each other a ton of their best fruit or best juice before they do anything. They could even set aside each other’s batches at their home wineries and fly back and forth to do their magic. To then see the difference between the finished products would be awesome. The whole debate is null and void right now when winemakers are limited by the the grapes, soil, and weather and ripeness they have to work with. I.E. Piedmont Barolo vs. McLaren Vale Shiraz

Just want to make sure you don’t forget about us newbies for 2010… I know the long time fallowers don’t want to hear something they’ve heard 50 times already but it would help us new fallowers catch-up a little if you can go 101 every so often 😉
    Thanks a million!!!
    Ciao

QotD answered by a lurker: I would like to see a show explaining the process of observing, “sniffy sniffying” and tasting wines. I would like to see your take.

    Merry Christmas!

So glad to see the two of you tasting the Cab… Hopefully one day I will be in possession of a bottle or two. Love the show and regardless of the direction it takes in the new year, I will be watching. Love ya!

    GV,

QOTD: Love the double blind, but like anything in this world, too much could get old. I like it when you explore new regions. Maybe compare chenin blancs or syrahs from different regions around the world.

I watch WLTV mostly to learn but also to be inspired and laugh. I’m drinking lots of wine, watching your show, and reading books. The problem is, my wife’s getting a little upset at this obsession of mine. When you come out to California, let us know. You’ll have to talk to her and smooth this out.

New rule – Whenever Mott makes an appearence he gets to ask the QOTD.

QOTD: Bring the stories to the table. I still talk about how Santa Marg became the most popular white in the US. That was a great story and makes wine drinking that much more enjoyable.

For the new year I’d like the Cork’d app to be ready!
