Hi GV!! Welcome back!! We missed a lot your wine insights this 5 years. Being an original Vayniac, and thru all this years asking for you to come back, its very nice to see everything changed for the best. Hope the family is very well, Sasha, AJ, Lizzie and Misha (a little baby when you stopped WLTV)! I myself, have a lovely couple babies at home, 30 month old boy and 8 month old girl. Hope WLTV is back to stay!! QOTD: 2012 Quinta Maria Izabel tinto, Douro. Great wine!

Gary I found this show surfing on the net a month ago and after watching a couple of episodes, I liked it so much that i started watching them from the beginning! Now i’m close to episode #200 (plus the recent ones), and i’m afraid to finish all the old ones, meaning that i will have to wait for the release of the current WLTV shows and only have one per day…

New ideas for 2010? if you keep the good mood it will obviously be fine whatever it is. But like a lot of people here, i hope there will be many double blind tastings! And as Dom posted, it would be nice if you were really BLIND tasting them: no look at the color! and vary the person that choose the wines for you.

The guests? why not wine library people sometimes? and any people, the person who answers the phone, the person who cleans the store, the webmaster, mott…

    Great show!

QOTD: I like Chris D’s idea. You could also bicycle through the Barossa, and on and on.
I’m going to try the Vayniac wine very soon.

QOTD: For 2010, would LOVE to see more blind episodes. Also would love to see a few episodes where Ian tries to trick you, throwing in a Chilean Cab during a Bordeaux tasting, etc. And, one thing that you have clearly focused on this year that I would like to see more of- VALUE!

  • QOTD: More of that! Seriously, nice to hear you (and Mott) just talk about what you’re drinking and what you like to talk about. Good stuff. Thanks and Happy Holidays.

QOTD: 15 minute shows – side by side tastings of similar wines and verticals. Also what makes a wine worth over $50 bucks. I have tasted my fair share but I still find it hard to pay 2 to 3 times more for a little extra fruit or character.

That Legras looks like my kind of bubbles. And I think it’s great that you expose something that’s not completely out of range, or out of the question for anyone who wants to play. I know I’d love it – sounds just like Salon, which I just creamed over (the 1988), years ago.
I was thrilled to hear you’re n Naples for New Year’s – I’d hate to bust up your quality time w/ Lizzie and Micha, but please let me know if there’s any public appearance/ event dinner down here – Roy’s and Randy Caparosa would be a good deal. But maybe it’s the Evensteads, or the Swanson’s. I’m new down here, but have already landed myself a wine position that makes me really happy, and as I said in an earlier post, have joined my dear, elderly Mom and Dad here, as well as my sister’s wonderful family.
Congrats, and good luck w/ the Vayniac Cab! Very soon I might join the leagues of online patrons, but for now, some in-store product reasearch on items new to me as a new Floridian. Just had Scala Dei Negre, Rugged Hills Lake Co. Cab, and a bunch of Block series, made for us by Adler Fels. Tasted tons at the recent holiday show – it’s clear that I’d moved down here just in the nick of time, or arrived right, to serendipitously find this position calling. And they Love me, down near Port Royal…
Incidentally, I plan to pour and conduct a tasting for my college baseball up and coming star (Samford U), Marcus R., after sales end NYE, at his staging party, before the guys take the trolley (maybe 40 of ’em) out on the town. I’ts finaly time to give ’em a proper wine education. This is my first one (Excluding the Scala Dei, the other day, at a large family dinner) for he, and his 21 year old sister, so I’ll go easy, go smart, and engage them w/ a proper German Riesling info primer. I’ve got a little Rudi Weist Bunny QbA, followed by a Valkenberg bereich, then some Kerpens, and a JJ Prum not too much info, time, or wine, but just enought to catchtheir ears and palate, so they understand what it is that I do, and leave them coming back for more next time.

QOTD: Gary, I’ve been watching all year and its been a tremendous 2009 for WLTV! I really liked the episode at the Robert Parker tasting in Rioja. I would like to see more of the “behind the scenes” action in 2010. I also really enjoy the wine nerd talk so we can keep learning. I vote for behind the scenes and wine nerding it up in 2010.

    Happy Holidays!!!
