I enjoy the blind tastings (they are not double-blind; that would require people picking wine that goes in the bags to know nothing about what was going on, especially anything about wine). Exclusively for an entire year? Please, no.

I really enjoy guests, especially those with expertise/back-story in the wine industry, but don’t want guests every show. I certainly do not want you to abandon guests in 2010.

I enjoy tight shows in your office. Sound usually is good; you are more relaxed. Familiarity is comfortable, but don’t give us an entire year of #85 jersey-Gary-chalkboard video framing.

In short: please continue to mix it up; don’t get into a comfortable, grind-out-a-week-of-shows-in-one-day rut.

Stay on the edge. Allow yourself to fail. That’s how you’ve crushed it for four years, why walk away from that formula?

Go Double Blind the whole year! We all know there will be some exceptions (and there should be), but go double blind 80-90% of the episodes.

Great episode.

For 2010, I would like more of the “old school” type episodes, as you mentioned. Perhaps a few less guest shows than this year brought… That said, some of them were great episodes (756 & 757). Blind tastings are fun; Not sure I would like to see ALL blind for the year, though. Maybe 1 a week, or a few a month would be more my speed. I like the more traditional WLTV feel.

Just got my Vayniac cab Tuesday and packed it for the move to Santa Fe. On the road right now somewhere in TN. Glad to hear you are going to have fewer guests. There were a few gems but vitners should be minimized as you never seem to give as upfront appraisal of their wines. Many of the women you had on this past year were great and at least several of them should come back but I like the original format. Hope everyone has a great holiday.

Ha – Is it because of the fruit Mott? … what Mott should have said … Nope, it’s because my boss (and contributor to the wine) is sitting right next to me.

I have a lot of faith in you Gary, but come on, really? A whole year of blinds? We both know that you would get bored, and let’s not forget the taste along Fridays 😛

Less guests is a good idea. Nerd out, son!

I like blind, especially if you pit similar grapes or blends from different regions/vintages/winemaking techniques/etc…show people that a Cab doesn’t necessary taste like a Cab everywhere.

2010: like guests. like blind tastings. don’t like on the street or where bad audio is found. would like blind tastings of $10, $20 and $50 in same tasting.
Would like Mott to be a guest. Bring daddy back a couple times a year. less sports talk. (i can get expert info from other places, no?) Get more nerdy at times – I mean teach us something about the palate, the grapes. It’s all about the story we can tell the next day, no?

QOTD: Personally, I don’t think you need to change a thing. The system ain’t broke. Maybe a little more interaction with the viewers, answering questions, reading comments, laid back Fridays.

Keep it tight and focused. I love the idea of more blind tastings and the casual Fridays. Don’t shy away from the guests, but place as much emphesis on the “character” as you do on the wine knowledge. The best guage is “do you want to have dinner with them”. Finally, I am like you and can’t get enough of the bubbly, so feel free to keep it flowing!

Continued success and can’t wait for ’10.

Blinds and double blinds, yes. But not every episode.
More solo shows, yes. But keep bringing those fab guests.
And bring us more Sasha, more couch, more Mott.
