Glad to see the Gewurztraminer. Now I’m sad I didn’t get the Xmas package(too poor right now). Based on your taste notes, that’s exactly the style of Gewurztraminer I’m looking for. I don’t like the sweeter bottles. Dry and spicy Alsatian style is the way I like it. I will definitely have to try it. The only non Alsatian Gewurztraminer I’ve liked, actually came from Michigan.

    QOTD
Some Malbec, I didn’t write the name down, because I wouldn’t buy a bottle. It was nice, but I don’t need to experience it again. I think I would rate it a 86 87. It had a nice nose, but I thought it finished too quickly.

The bottle I would buy came from the Wolverine State, 2007 Two Lads Cabernet Franc. Nice berry nose, very drinkable, bottle. I think it was an 89 or 90 point bottle

Warning to those that haven’t tried Gewurztraminer before, there are a lot of bad, unbalanced, sometimes jarring bottles out there. They usually are not from Alsace, but I did have one or two Alsatians that were weak. The worst Gewurztraminer was from Sakonnet Vinyards (RI).

    GV,

I’m pumped about the Sansonnet from the thank you 3 pack C. I’m going to hold it for at least a few years.

    QOTD:
12/24 – Stags’ Leap 05 Cab – Meh to good. Blackberries, chocolate, soft tanins. Probably overpriced, but drank well with the prime rib.
12/25 – N.V. Jean Albrecht Crémant d’Alsace Pinot Blanc Brut Réserve – pear, apple, bread. Not bad at all for $15. Made mimosas with the last half of the bottle.

    Merry Christmas!

Wished I had purchased this pack…Loved the reviews!

Margaritas last night…hey, I’m in TX and had mexican food!

Had ’06 Paso Creek Cab today. My wife loves it, so she got a case for Christmas. It has nice nose of red fruit and a medium juicy taste.

Merry Xmas Gary and everyone at WLTV!

Nice show. 2009 had been an eventful year and I had a 1982 La Mission Haut Brion to top it off.

Aging very well, beautiful aromatic nose and very much alive. Hints of truffles, black berries, plum and silky smooth tannins on the palate. Simply amazing! It’ll be a while before I can afford to pop another one 🙂

    Happy New Year!

We had 2001 and 2005 L’Aventure Optimus from Paso Robles California. It was excellent. The 2001 was ready and the 2005 was good but could hold for another 2 – 3 years.

The Sansonnet La Reserve was the bomb! Thanks Gary Vaynerchuck! LOL HaHaHa!

    Merry Christmas!

    Love in San Luis Obispo!

QOTD: We had the 1998 Chateau Gruaud Larose for our Xmas dinner and it was really good. Nice well aged Bordeaux, well balanced with plum, cherry and spice flavours plus rather silky tannins.

    QOTD- Change of plan.
First wine- 2006 JC Vizcarra Ribera Del Duero Tempranillo. Very jammy fruit on the nose. Strawberry, cherry. Tasted of cherries on the front with darker cherries on the mid and dark fruit with a little bit of coffee on the finish. Medium tannins and good acid. I read the Jay Miller review and he got cedar, bacon and smoke??? I got none of that.

Second wine- Gary I have to admit you are absolutley right about grower Champagne!! I will now use Cliquot to clean my toilet. I popped Gaston Chiquet premier crew non vintage blend. The Tradition not the blanc de blancs. The nose was toast and apple and pear and butter. The taste was the same. Bubbles were super fine, the acid just right. So smooth! $ 46.00 is worth it!!
    Gary you rock!!! Thanks.

  • Merry Christmas y/all!

Had a brilliant Italian dinner last night, and drunk:
    08 Bidoli Pinot Grigio
    06 Pio Cesare Barbera
    04 Tabola Vino Nobile Riserva
    06 Frescobaldi Chianti
    01 Castellare Vino Nobile

Were all okay, the Barbera and Chianti were quite good actually. Espresso and Limoncello afterwards, so hangover today.
