I agree with you about Sonoma. And it’s a far more interesting place to vist thatn Napa.
So that makes it all the worse that this condescending Napa chick basically treats her audeience (us_ contemputously with her lack of prepaaration, incuriosity, and passionlessness then her mom comes on and insults us for calling a spade a spade. Well, it’s worth noting.

    Gary!

First time caller, long time listener. I love your show! I’m going to ignore this one. No offense.

    WOW,
Long time viewer here, but first time leaving a comment. I have read the majority of the comments on this episode and yes some of them are harsh, but sadly most of them are true! Unfortunately Ms.Helen Buehler did not bring any wine knowledge to this interview, especially for someone representing a winery and growing up in a wine family!

Lisa Buehler I have been drinking and recommending your Cabernet for years, with that being said, I will no longer purchase or recommend your brand! I feel your childish attack on the Vayniacs or as you call them “pathetic wine groupies” shows a lot about your character and professionalism or lack there of!!!

Gary, 795 out of 796 episodes is still a great number, lol. Looking forward to 797.

I am shocked at the lack of class many of you have displayed. You all really need get to get a life. Not everyone is a wine nerd, but it doesn’t make them any less of a person. And I don’t believe one needs to be a wine nerd to be in the wine business.

I find it especially ironic that many of you criticized Lisa for defending her daughter, yet your words were 1000 times worse. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Contructive criticism is good. Destructive criticism has no place in civilized discussions.

As for all of you who “threatened” not to buy Buehler wines based on Lisa’s comments, please know that there are any army of us willing to try Buehhler’s wines based on this episode. I found GV’s analysis to be spot on to what I like about Cabs and it is a well-priced wine. Many Cali wineries are way overpriced for what they offer, but Buehlher has the right model in place.

Lisa, I myself plan on buying several bottles. Keep up the good work and way to stand up for your family. That’s admirable!

I Loved Her Comment About Wine Not Being That Costly To Make. I Think She’s Spot On With That. That’s Just Bringing The Thunder-Truth, And You Know It.
Now Can We Please Move On People!?!?!?!?!

WELL, I love the Pre-Christmas taping here, as is evident by the Dean Martin Christmas music in the background. As for the guest, although she seemed a little under-informed about the wine business as a whole, she obviously has a passion for her family winery and for supporting other family-owned wineries in Napa Valley in the midst of the innumerable corporate takeovers in this region as of late.
QOTD: Clearly Sanchez needs to heed the advice he is being given since he is still diving HEAD FIRST into the oncoming tackle! Did he not see the result of Dolphins (the dirty fish) 2nd string Quarterback, Pat White, trying to run the ball head-first into the oncoming Steelers defense??!!

Ps-Gary I hope you mention on the next episode that the hostility of your viewers is not the way to crush it.
The Buehler’s deserve an apology on behalf of the vaynernation.

wasn’t that my point? You get positive and negative comments and often the negative tend to rip things apart because of the focus on them.
As for the learning, I think everyone learned something here.

Rosy or grey matters none, it still smells bad when pips so easily can turn to hate.

And I still want Gary’s point of view on this epsiode, WinelibraryTV is his brand. Buehlers are wine. these brands are connected but different.

I like all the shows here because they always bring something. I like wine and people for the same reason. Have a nice day.

  • QOTD: Sorry, don’t know what you’re talking about 🙂

Nice idea to do the show in a restaurant! The guest was a bit shy but gosh she’s cute! Don’t really like Paris either, much prefer Bordeaux or Reims!
Wine producer and wine critic are two different job and it’s often very difficult for the producers to talk about their wines to the crowd, they prefer to talk to their team and the vines 🙂

Of course she doesn’t pay for wine. She is not a connoisseur yet and her family is in the wine business!

I don’t pay for art. My family is connected to the art world. We get gifts.

If Helen’s family were running an ice cream business, then she probably wouldn’t pay for ice cream.

That said, she still should have known the prices.

I think most people miss the real point of ‘not paying for wine’. I’d say that there are almost 1,000,000 wines that she doesn’t have free access to. In order to really know ‘your’ product, you must know others. Much knowing to go here for Ms. Lady.

Given how great your guests have been from the wine industry, she is too green and I can’t believe she is in sales and had no clue about MSRP of her own wine. Seems like some vetting should have occurred or prep beforehand. Also I like to know I can get the wines that you are tasting for the most part even if they are too pricey for me. She really had little opinion beyond one word answers about the wine’s nose, mouthfeel, anything. Really disappointing but I now Gary was doing his best to make it a good show.
That said, please invite more members of the wine trade to talk about their own wines. Jim K from ABC? R Graham? K Lynch, Eric Solomon or other importers of note?

A nice young woman gets a baptism of fire from the world of Web 2.0.

Helen, I hope you take the critical comments as constructive. Rightly or wrongly, we never know how we are being perceived until someone tells us. Lord knows Gary gets a few rough suggestions. Good luck and I’m sure you have a great future.

Look I actually consider myself a geneleman. But come in with no game and a Vellery Girl value system or insult this sonderful bunch of people and you’d be out of tocuh to expect us to strew rosepetals on your path to riches. And it would be masochistic to buy wine from a concern that puts us down. Byooler may be liquid gold at 23 bucks per but I aint buyin it.

Keep it positive and I hope this poor girl realizes that 90% of these comments are from people you would never want to hang out with anyway.
