  • Listen man, I’m not a hater, but I am a young person in the wine industry (I’m 23, working for a winery in PA), and I gotta say, no disrespect to the Buehler’s, but this is an embarassing representation of the new face of wine. She says she’s in sales, but can’t tell you the price of the wine? She says she wants to start her own label and get into winemaking, but can’t pick out a single component of ANY wine she brought, including her own?? She leaves the Valley and then comes back to help her parents… Seems to me she decided to be in wine just because it was the easy way out. On a side note, I also gotta agree with @jason carey, I kind of get turned off by people calling wine a “project”. If this is just a “project” for you in an attempt to make money, you’re in the wrong place. I just graduated with a degree in economics and math from Cornell University (not to toot my own horn at all), all my past experience is in finance type jobs, which I’m sure would pay much more than the place I’m currently at, but you know what, I chose the wine industry because it is my absolute PASSION, and that is something you cannot buy or inherit from Daddy. Literally every single paycheck I get, the first thing I do is go buy wine to try and experiment with because it is what I love (actually, that’s a lie, I also occassionaly use the money to take my girlfriend out to nice dinners). My parents make fun of me because I watch this show and all your past episodes so much, but I do it because wine is something I can never stop learning about. To me, this guest was just handed it all on a silver spoon (or screwcap, as they say). Am I jealous of that and is that why I’m upset? Probably, but if you don’t have the passion, find a new day job.

Listen, I’ve had Buehler Cab and Chard before and like both, and I think they’re great wines. For God’s sake, the website of the winery I work at is MODELED after Buehler’s, but I just get a little irked by guests like this.

QOTD: E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!!! Lets go, baby! Dallas sucks!

Sorry if this pisses anybody off, I don’t intend to make a scene or bash somebody via the internet. If Helen or anybody wants to disagree with me, I’d be happy to talk to you about why I feel this way, just email me at [email protected].

    Phew, I’m done.

What an Paris Hilton moment; this chick comes on the show and really knows very little about the wines she brings. I feel bad for her family winery if they are counting on her to push the brand. I’ve had Buehler Cabs and they are not bad, but if someone hadn’t, I can’t see them rushing out to get one on her suggestion.

  • @aquaman You are hallucinating if you thought there was chemistry between these two. Completely innocent. She heated up a little when she was solo on camera but all women are like that.

Ok, wow. This girl was totally vapid and clueless. Loved her tasting notes.

I guess I don’t understand how a wine show can POSSIBLY have on the wine producer themself and try to be objective. If this were a 70 point wine could you really have told that girl to her face that it sucked? I think it’s bad programming to have winery owners on the show, but that’s just me.

Definitely easy on the eyes though……………

@JasonM, you are a mensch! That was pretty classy for allowing a two way conversation.

I hope Helen can take the comments on here as constructive criticism and use it to better her sales and marketing strategies. I think passion and knowledge about the product is definitely what will sell it on this outlet.

QOTD: I’m not that into football.

  • The Lurk Monster

Damn she is getting ripped in the comments. I thought she was kind of cute with the puppy dog eyes and all but she was clueless and the “I don’t pay for wine” comment (even if it was meant to be innocent) made her come across as spoiled. It seems like she needs to find her own passion because clearly wine isn’t it.
