  • I loved when you threw the corks and went in to slam the action figure off the side. I wish I had a 3D Tv for that.

  • Appellation d'Origine Contrรดlรฉe (AOC) is an appellation system in place to regulate wine production in France. There are several classifications of wine within France, but the AOC sets the standard. In other words, the AOC regulated wines are of higher quality, and have to follow stricter guidelines of production.

so fridays shirt and mondays shirt are one and the same … must be great taping a week's worth of shows in one day.

  • WineWoman

    snow sucks, BIGTIME.

  • jamesosborn

Just flurries up here on the Vineyard. Anyway, I was hoping to get some advice this week on good wines to serve at a Super Bowl party. But a great show, as always.

  • allanj

    You are one sharp knife!

  • Reading, atlas shrugged, watching, big bang theory, listening to king crimson

  • Learned something new. Thanks GV.

However, you gotta let this Jets thing go. It's over and done with. Time to move on.

  • allanj

    I talk to the wind

  • allanj

Don't think so…… he's clever, or maybe not?

  • plcb

    Atlas Shrugged….good one

  • adrums

Atlas Shrugged is indeed great… there's nothing like reading the same over-simplified talking point again, again and again for 1000 pages. (jabby-jab)

  • Phredd3

Good show. I haven't had Banyuls, yet, but I have had Maury (also Grenache-based dessert wine). My problem is that I unconsciously compared it to Port, and Maury just doesn't have the same structure. I felt almost a little let down. I was told the Maury would be “the thing” to have with a chocolate dessert, but Port would have held up better. But, I love the sitckies, so I'll keep trying.

QOTD: I love snow. Raised in Alaska, so it's great. Now that I'm in North Carolina, though, it can be pretty disruptive. School is canceled for a couple flakes around here. I still like the snow, I just don't like the scheduling havoc it creates.

here ya go Don … garyvaynerchuk 1 day ago

Question of the day? What do you think of Snow? 1st thought? Pls pass this on and repeat to peeps as this will get lower and lower

    Where's MOTT ??????

  • scotty b

    GV,

We definitely need a Mott-cam. No QOTD? I'll make one for you instead:

Are you more passionate about wine, business, or the Jets, and why?

  • johnfasc

Would love to give banyuls a shot – have tried the grenache in the dessert format and enjoyed it. not nearly as much as some of the ice wines from the kind folks north of us.

it'll be a new season for your boys next year. what the hell do we watch on the weekends now?!
give us a sunday football special WL show at 4:15!! taste w/ gv, big boy wines episodes

  • Don Simpson

Ahhh, thanks NY Pete. We got over 2 feet here in DC. Maybe closer to 30 inches, I haven't heard the official count yet. I saw a guy cross country skiing down a main road in Arlington yesterday (Wilson Blvd), which was completely awesome….

  • I'm going to assume the QOTD is to make a superbowl prediction. I like your score but you got it backwards, Gary. Saints take it.

Thanks for tasting some of those Banyuls on the show. I was just talking to a woman married to a Catalan from the Roussillon and she was saying that there needs to be more Banyuls on the Internets.

  • I don't understand how we can eliminate other theories so quickly. Like maybe every time he goes to change clothes now, he sees a jersey in the closet and gets all gloomy like the end of this episode and he just walks away forgetting to change. ๐Ÿ™

  • oh, crap: “QOTD what do you think of snow?”

I think it's fun for a week. Tragic after that. But honestly the first thing that popped into my head was this idea for a sort of Banyuls snowcone. Like making a snowball and pouring a banyuls that's a little higher in alcohol and sugar all over it. OH MAN.

  • BFR1028

I saw a few shows and it was great. Now I can’t find them. What channel are they on?

  • A_S

I wonder how he would have ended the show if the Jets were playing in the super bowl:)

  • drt999

I don't know if that would work, but it sounds like a fun experiment!

hittin' you up from south korea. i don't really have much a selection from where i am living, but more and more wine producing countries have been taking an interest here. although i don't have access to a great variety of wines, like i might have in the states, i do have a few favorites from the local (what we would call) “k-mart”-like establishments. one of the wines that i look for more often than others is merlot from carmen. i would absolutely love to hear what you have to say about this variety. also, a big thumbs up to the internet's most passionate wine program. keep bringin' the thunder.

  • TommyB

Never tried a wine from Banyuls, another to put on the list!

QOTD: How many episodes per week of WLTV should Gary host?
My answer is 2-3: I think that is about right, what do you think Gary?

  • I have totally forgotten about Banyuls. There is also white Banyuls by the way. Dunno if that may carry the same AOC.

One of the nicest purposes of Banyuls is to make a Banyuls-Chocalate syrup and serve it with almond icecream. Oh my godddd!

  • oh yeeeahhhh…. Macho Man is greater than Hulk Hogan. Digg It! lol

  • Like the middle ground between a snowball and a trou normand. I will let you know.

  • 1 hr til kickoff.

    GO COLTS!!!!

  • SamKw

Glad to see a fellow Korean Vayniac!
Gary's done a bunch of shows on Merlot, which is to be expected since it is a significant varietal in the wine world. Just enter 'merlot' in the search tab and they'll show up, including several blind tasting episodes.
On the subject of wine in Korea – not only the range of choice available but the price of wine is OUTRAGEOUS. It partly has to do with the fact that the import taxes for wine is higher than that of beer or liquor, but the main problem is the cartelization among importers. They'll never own up to it, but you do the math and you figure out there can be no other explanation. I've seen certain bottles cost 7-8 times the RRP in the US. This is the reason why I'm drinking up as much as I can while I'm in the States, and I've sworn not to buy wine in Korea, as a form of protest. I'm planning to take some time to explore traditional Korean liquors, which are hugely underappreciated, when I go back.

  • so, who does one cheer for? Saints or Colts?

  • SamKw

And for the QOTD:Snow? Better than rain. Rain just depresses me. Plus, snow doesn't require me to carry umbrellas. Strange, though, up here in the upstate NY we usually get a ton of snow each year; but for some reason I've hearing reports of massive snowstorms everywhere else yet so far it's been pretty calm here, snow-wise.

  • Congrats to the Saints

  • DFbwp

GV predicted it. I thought they had no chance.

  • texmex3000

    WHO DAT!!!!!!!!
what happen to show filmed in new orleans?
    WHO DAT!!!!!!!!

  • NY Pete

GV predicted crap … he said Indy would win.

  • NY Pete

    Go Saints!

  • DFbwp

You're right. I remembered he spent a long time saying he had a “funny feeling” that the Saints could throw on the Colts, but then I forgot he ultimately went with the Colts. He was right about throwing on the Colts. Brees got MVP.

  • Waits

I bought the Dvd’s from Amazon.co.uk. They were dirt cheap. 1st series is France, 2nd series is California. I think they might have shown them on BBC 4 or something like that.
    I don’t know about the US though…

  • lordsauvignon

    Congrats Saints!

  • Waits

Oh, just remembered… There’s also a Dvd called: Oz and James drink to Britain which is just as funny as the other two. Not so much about wine, they set out to find the drink that defines Britain, with a surprising conclusion…

If you want to see something funny Go youtube, and punch in: Oz and James Sat nav ; )

    Cheers

    BOO!!!

  • Hey Gary

    Good show, good wines.

You're obviously a bit stressed. I watched the superbowl today – my first game of American football ever. Loved it, I can see why you're a fan!

    Cheers
