  • sweet….downloading pt2 now, while mixing up some green wine for St.Pats day in Scranton, PA.

  • Great episode. Fantastic Poster! Love me some graphics!

QOTD#1: To my parents for getting me that first computer. To Frank Frazetta, Ray Harryhausen and Bugs Bunny for fueling my imagination

QOTD#2: Too many in NY to pin down

QOTD#3: *rolls eyes* Your killing me 3 Theives. Boxers or Briefs? Really? I would tell you but my ovaries are getting in the way. I try. I work. I slave and what thanks do I get…

  • RANDINTHECITY

    GARY!!!
    Thieves!!

Yes, the golden ticket! How about something on the bottom of the cork?..

    QOTD1: Aunt Sally
QOTD2: New York City / Johns Pizzeria – 278 Bleecker St.

    Great show!
    Thanx all… xo

BTW…listened to your interview w/Rich German tonite – I love what you said about ppl that lie to themselves.. how you need to be the best at what youre the best at..and about how success truly requires hardwork…less videogames.. lol xo Also love the garyv.com message today… Agree theres not enuff “thank you/youre welcome” not only in “branding”..but in life.
    😉

  • Looking forward to trying this wine. Would love to know your thoughts on laying some down for a while and how long it could sit. I have room for about 100 more in my cooler. QOTD1- Dr. Piran Sioshansi has been a huge influence in my carreer. QOTD2- Santarpio's Pizza in Boston, QOTD3 I cannot remember the last box wine I drank but Boxerbrief is the way to go.

  • RANDINTHECITY

    oops,
QOTD3: briefs <-talkn wine, right? LOL

  • murso

Q1 – as young as in Jr. High School, I'd been given the chance – then it was the High School Jazz Band Director, who wanted the best trumpet in the Jr. High, cause his “dummies couldn't hack it”- and that was the 5th trumpet part. I took that part, and never looked back. Whether the Graphics teacher got me a job as a press operator, in H.S., Club Owner's promoted me up to Mgmt., orthe wine world came calling to step up. An audition , or a date, I'd always take the opportunity for growth/ expansion of experience, and to move up , if possible. Currently, it is the Wine/bev corp. which saw my resume, and has given me my recent positon. Thanks, Wine corp!
Q2 Pizza? does it matter? For what it is, what's local will fit the bill, not worth driving to, to seek out 'the finest'., whatever that is… I could not see traversing the wilds of Chi-town's expanse, for pizza, unless truffles were involved. Then, it's not about pizza, is it? !! So, if in Cleve., try Captain Tony's Gyro pizza in Shaker Square, or downtown. Or their pesto, chx/art heart.
Q3 – what? Maybe the best box I'd had was that Cuvee des Pyrenees- caginan, and other stuff. cheap, but ok. and organic. (this was several years ago).

Oh. and by the way – I wouldn't poo poo the entire jug wine world – we've had to inspect the quality of the tons of products in this oceania of what most consider plonk , or drek, and you'd be surprised a the homogenized, if not neutral, and unwowing 'drinkability' of this stuff. The millions of 'old guys'. I'll call 'em, wh drink this stuff love it, and it is what they love…we learned, many years ago, the we don't disparage other people's likes, from carlo… to, say, Cakebread. Or cupcake, for that matter. As one of my good wine reps, years ago, whom I trusted would say “… there's no accounting for TASTE. Mine inclusive.” !!

    Cheers, Theives!

This was an awesome show!!! GV, bring these guys back for episode 998. I've got a great pizza place recommendation. If you are ever in mid-Missouri, you have got to try pizza at Shakespeare's in Columbia. It is iconic, classic and damn good. The plus is it is right next to the MIZZOU campus, home of the great Missouri Tigers. Okay….they did suck at the Big-12 tournament today, but I'm still a fan.

  • I guess I'm a dissenter again. I thought both shows sorta rambled around and I couldn't finish either. Sorry, GV, not trying to be a jerk or anything 🙁

  • vpass64

What a great show. I emailed them about the poster, but I doubt I got a golden ticket. I saw Malbec as an upcoming huge ploy. Paso Robles, which I'm only a few hours away has a lot of Malbec and Zin coming in from 09. Since it has been exposed on WLTV, I'm sure we are all too late to capture some of that thunder, just like if you were too late on the Real Estate market. Once the seminars start happening, the opportunity is long gone. Don't have a favorite pizza place, but Giovannis in Mammoth, CA is pretty good for when you are up there in the snow. My mentor gave me my chance to make the entrepreneurial dream. And I prefer briefs for the cozy sensation of support.

  • KnightWKNF

What great show! Awesome guests! Now I have some faces with names for some of the wines I have drank.

QOTD 1: I would probably have to say my last part time job, gave me a chance to show my worth to him with my knowledge and made it up to assitant manager in under a year.
QOTD 2: Pizza Man in Milwaukee…. Too bad it burned down a couple months ago.
    QOTD 3: Brief

  • rick redekop

my dad gave me my opportunity
The Nook in Vancouver BC for best pizza
No offence but box wine just does not cut, although I would have at least one friend who would dispute that

  • No issues at all Brandon, appreciate your honesty, now did u get the free poster?

  • JOhn u hate it?

  • QOTD1: This guy (my former boss) I owe a lot to for giving me a chance in the engineering world: http://web.mac.com/costa/Costa_Family/Paul.html
QOTD2: Best Pizza in Atlanta is Antico Pizza: http://www.anticopizza.it/kitchen.html Only 3 places in the USA have Pizza ovens that this pizza place uses. Most Authentic Italian Pizza in the Southern USA, bar none.
QOTD3: I'm a bottle lover. I would much rather pay $20 to $30 and have a better chance of having an enjoyable wine than paying $10-$15 and just hoping it tastes drinkable. (but of course, there's lots of crappy wine costing $20 to $30 and a lot more) Having a developed palate is essential, and thats what most Americans are lacking. Everyone new to wine should watch these key videos: http://tv.winelibrary.com/new_to_wine/ and train their palates.

  • QOT1 Working on my first big opp now with my marketing professor.
QOT2 Pizza Place @grand central mall in Parkersburg, WV(greeesssseeeyyyy with pepperonis that curl up),Flying Pizza Dayton (grease toned down with more subtle flavors/crispy crust) , OH/Duo's in Chicago(deep dish better than giordano's).
Q0T3 I have enjoyed bottles over boxes in my experience.

  • laurieinvt

    oh yuk

  • mattgmann

I've never been to Carsonie's, will have to check it out. For good pizza by the slice, try Cafe Napolitana. It's the best I've found in the city, but imo, there isn't any truly great pizza in c-bus. The shop at the North market is fair also.

  • robbiec

Q1: I've had some teachers who have really given me the chance to shine…and inspired me to become one as well.

Q2: In Bellingham, WA La Fiamma pizza is the best. Try the greek pizza!
In Dayton, OH The Pizza Factory is best. Try the Whole wheat crust, well done, with any toppings you like.

Q:3 I'm a bottle wine guy because there just isn't much that interests me in a box yet…I want to see single-vineyard stuff! How about a single-vineyard zinfandel field blend in a box? Also, I have never seen a USA boxed wine in China. Send some boxes, bottles or anything over here and I'll buy them!

Great show guys…though I wish Gary hadn't rambled as much in the first part (at least he's self-aware). ha…you did fine Gary, I'm just taking the piss out of you a little bit.

  • 750ml

    Good call on Shakespeare's! I need a new cup…

  • 750ml

I love the marketing nerdiness! Most inspiring episode yet!

?OTD un – All my great professors n the MBA program at Rockhurst University
?OTD deux – Waldo Pizza in KC
?OTD trois – I really, really want to like boxes but haven't found one to break me through so bottles; and briefs

  • SteveF

    QOTD: 1
QOTD: 2 http://www.eccospizzausa.com/ Long Beach CA

Gary, What is your favorite Pizza joint?

  • Jimmy D

Gary- Best episode yet, would love to here more industry talk from time to time. Those guys were amazing

QOTD1 – I have a had a few very good mentors, people who have shared things with me that have helped me out immensely

    QOTD2 – Happy Joe's Pizza! happyjoes.com – quad cities, wisconsin, iowa area

QOTD3 – Didn't that Bandit Box get like a mid 80 something rating? pretty good for a box…

  • mattgmann

qotd 1: Uncle Sam. The marine corps beat me up and sent me to some terrible terrible places, but I came out a much bette man.

qotd 2: Best pizza in cbus is Cafe Napolitana downtown, but if you want to feel local, skip pizza. Hit up the Thurman Cafe in German Village for an outrageously huge and delicious burger, or Dirty Franks downtown for some insane hot dogs and cheap beer.

qotd 3: it's not that I'm apposed to wine in a box, I've just never had anything I liked out of a box.

Second half better than the first. I hope the wine turns out as good as GV predicts.

  • KVM1985

Nice show! I especially enjoyed the second part.

QOTD 1: My upbringing. The one thing I have no control over (who I am born to) has given me the biggest advantage, and until I realize why I received this advantage instead of others I will do my best to serve those without the fortune I have undeservedly received.

QOTD 2: No idea – I will have to read the comments!
QOTD 3: Boxes (“boxers”) are fine!

  • QOTD 1: Everything I have accomplished in life I have done on my own. No favors, I owe noboby anything.

    QOTD 2: http://casertapizzeria.com/ Providence RI

QOTD 3: I don't do boxes. Yes I am a box snob because I haven't tasted a good one yet.

  • GLrocks

#1 MY STEP-FATHER always there with the financial support which makes life and business a lot easier
#2 Circle Pizza thin crust fresh dough Southern Jersey style. you know it is good when all you need is crust, sauce and cheese
#3 bottle , bottle bottle sorry old school box wine is nasty
Good show but i can sense a real charity 88 points there

  • laurieinvt

QOTD 1: I could fill a book with those names, but one to highlight would be the Director of Nursing who pointed me toward a scholarship the facility offered that enabled me to cover the unpaid part of my college tuition (LPN putting myself through school to get my RN).
QOTD 2: Rockydale in Bristol, Papa Nick's in Hinesburg
QOTD 3: part one- bottle. part two- depends on who's in 'em.

  • bradleyp

The best pizza place in the U.S. is Pizzaria Bianca in Phoenix Arizona hands down!!! Get the pizza called The Wise Guy. Here is the link to it.

    http://www.pizzeriabianco.com/

Enjoy!! Excited to get my signed poster I hope!

  • WineWoman

QOTD: In life, my godmother–shout out to Aunt Katie. In career, my mentor, Prof. Natic.
QOTD2: Pizza–Spirito's in Elizabeth. Central Pizza in Somerville. Both in NJ.
    QOTD3: No Box. Bottles!!!

  • lordsauvignon

    These guys are awesome!!!

  • I didn't get that far into the episode…uh oh…what did I miss out on? 🙂 Now I'm gonna have to watch it again!

  • ONUMello

NICE- even watching this late for me, given the # of Viddler views/comments, I'm actually hopeful for a poster!
These are 3 amazing QOTDs, too.
    1. All of the fine folks at Ohio Northern University, who will do absolutely anything to make sure their students succeed to the highest level.
    2. ONU is in Ada, OH which is a tiny town with some killer pizza. Padrones claims “pizza so good it could change your life” and it's absolutely true- now that I'm no longer on campus, I have to go back every few months just to get some. There's also a legit Italian joint called Viva Maria with legit pizza (we're talking 90 points vs Padrone's 98+ points on a wine scale, since all pizza should have a base 50 points as well for just being pizza)
    3. I'm still a bottle person, although I'm thinking about doing a box tasting finally since I know the quality is finally improving.

  • tarany

best pizza in the denver area (including boulder): proto's pizza.

  • WineWoman

Gary, watched your GaryVee Daily Word and totally agree that a large part of this world lacks simple manners. Saying please and thankyou for something definitely makes one feel appreciated. Unfortunately, it has been forgotten by many in today's society.

  • Michael D

In Phoenix, Pizzeria Bianco gets rave reviews.

  • lordsauvignon

QOTD1: My Parents, wife and my brothers.
QOTD2: Not a pizza connoisseur. Sorry I've got nothing.
    QOTD3: Briefs, I'm a bottle kinda guy

  • QOTDs…
    1. My parents and My first “real” boss (Mark)
    2. Pagliacci in Seattle or Vitales in Allegan, MI
    3. Bottle of wine & exclusively boxers!

  • Level1Alt

Palone's Pizza in Charlotte NC (8133 Ardrey Kell Rd)

  • Great to see Joel Gott and associate the person with the name on the label..(good value wines).

QOTD 2: Applewood Pizza, Menlo Park, CA
QOTD 3: Not a box wine fan.. (last one I tried was Franzia ugh).

  • mattgmann

I've been planning a brick pizza oven build as a summer project. With any luck the best pizza in town will be in my backyard, assuming my masonry skills are good enough. I make a decent pie now in my customized oven in the garage. By custom, I mean I rigged it to hit nearly 700 degrees. The brick oven should get me closer to 1000 though, and I'll be able to burn out pies in under 90 seconds.

  • ErieWineGuy

What can I say! I've had the greatest time of my life with you and these 3 guys!

I got excited about the poster offer! Great idea.

#1 My entire family is ALWAYS there for me.

#2 In Erie, Pattie's Pizza is always good, cheap(oh excuse me, inexpensive) pizza.
And Nunzi's is a family-owned Italian Restaurant since about 1954 with always great
    food and great portions.

#3 I have had many boxed wines for everyday drinking, but I have been back to the
bottled wines exclusively for quite some time now. I want variety and challenge, not
    just drinkability all the time.

  • Don Simpson

Comment 77? (which is also Corvo's number on the Caps, on their way to win the Stanley Cup this year! GO CAPS!!!!!!)

  • ronyperez

    HI GARY
THANK YOU GUYS FOR THE OFFER!!!
    I LOVE YOU ALL
    MALBEC 'S ARE HOT EVERYWHERE!!

  • mattgmann

What is that fish in your pic? It's tiny, but looks like a cutt?

  • QOTDs
    1. A good family friend (shall remain nameless) who made a very large and generous donation to my education fund after my father passed away. Paid for my first year of college.
    2. Frank's Pizza, Kresgeville, PA
    3. Bottles and Boxers

  • winecrazy

That actually turned out good. I thught at first it was just a quetsion answer thing from yesterdays show. I like those guys. They are pretty cool. I saw that sign in Austin TX when I was there. I knew I had seen it somewhere before.

QOTD: A Pit Boss at Trumps Castle named Denise Catini for talking down to me in front of the players while I was dealing a black jack game. After throwing my casino ID in her face and telling her to go F herself I walked off the game and never looked back. I quit and went on to buy Real Estate in the 80's which I retired from at 35….over 13 years ago.

#2 Dimaios in Berkley Heights, NJ.

    #3 Bottle

  • Very interesting 2-parter…

    QOTD1: My parents
    QOTD2: Pizza Port, Carlsbad
    QOTD3: Bottles… preferably Magnums…
