Everybody loves Mott, but i love him the most! Mott has a posse, and i'm in it for sure

  • Jay

QOTD 1: The short shows are okay but I like more nerd info, Jets talk, and fun/funny guests.
QOTD 2: Ideal show length? Depends on what else I have going on. If I have all night, I could handle an hour of WLTV. 🙂 If I'm pressed for time, 12-15 minutes is about right.

  • JasonGonzales

WOW! Most impressive B.P.B. (Brown Paper Bag) show.

QOTD: BPB? I like it. —> I see a potential contest. Guess your scores the day before = fly us out for a show. Do 3 wines, tell us the price, we post three guesses. You tell us the next day & announce winner.

QOTD: 12 – 18 minutes. I actually like it when you tangent on business, sports, news, etc.

  • Nice… Mott! I hate THOSE days… 😉

QOTD1: Like these shows… mix them in between longer shows… nice
QOTD2: Doesn't matter the length… I like them all.. try to watch them all… no worries here…

  • yacochuya

QOTD1: Like diversity which I think you do a great job of
    QOTD2: 12 minutes +/-5

  • I like your idea Jason… get some REAL interaction with the Vayniacks //

  • guymandude

Like the format and the time. But like anything it will also change.

    Nice ending.

  • amsgpwarrior

QOTD: 20 minutes seems to be a good length on the shows.

Preferably, I like the shows where you do multiple brown bag specials- double blind.
As for the wine, $42 bones is a bit much, but I'm not much of a syrah type of guy except
for Cotes du Rhone, Cotie Rotie, or Chateauneuf du Pape.

  • Mott did not “link it up!” My man's palate comes through in the clutch.

Good wine, I need to find some.

QOTD #1: Short shows are good at the beginning of the week. As we go longer into the week, I want longer shows, i.e. Laid Back Friday.

QOTD #2: My boss would say 30 seconds but I say 18 mins. There's something about the number 18. 🙂

Have a wonderful time on vacation and yes, YOU DESERVE IT and thank you for not having us go through withdrawals. 🙂

    Cheers!

  • binarycache

    QOTD – 10 – 15 mins!

Not a fan of the shorts! I can respect the fact that you are taking a vacation and appreicate the fact that you give us something. Have fun on your vacation and then “Back To Work”

  • DAveAll

Vacations are nice, glad you are doing it. I appreciate you doing a few in advance for us “needy folks”. I could always fill in my life with NC wine TV or Kahunas, hm. which I do anyways.

QOTD: I like nerdy info on each wine, I occasionally like guests if they are nerdy. Each wine should be 3-4 minutes, some shows can be 1 wine, some shows could be 5 wines. Each guest would add 3-4 minutes for “their stuff”. So you mix and match what you'd like.
Mott – nice ending, love that power cord kicking! ROFL

  • DAveAll

Good comment, and back in MY day, we'd sell one kid so we could take the other two on vacation. snicker.

  • SourGrapesFC

QOTD 1: I would like to see a blend of this format and the “head to head” format. Two wines in paper bags with no info but the varietal.

QOTD 2: 12 minutes, give or take a few (approx 9-15) unless the occasional guest is worth going over.

  • Hey Gary

    Good show.

QOTD 1: I like the blind shows a lot, but I also like the more 'informative ones'. Could you not have some sort of weekly blindtasting show. Something along the lines of 'Blind Mondays'? Though 'Laidback Friday' never seems to really get going…

QOTD2: I don't really mind about the length of the shows. The short snappy ones are good, though somtimes you give away some valuable info on the longer, more indepth eposides.

    Cheers
    Andrew

  • plcb

You could refine it by talking a little slower. It was like someone turned up the speed on the record player. While trying to film a lot of shows for us (thanks!), you started talking a bit too fast. Watch the first two minutes. Your head will spin.

    QOTD: 12-20 minutes

I tasted 30 wines today at a PLCB Chairman's tasting. Steve Pollack does a great job.

  • dominickmack

Big fan of the brown paper bag shows! I think a good length is 15 minutes, unless there is a guest appearance (ie. Sasha)

  • Mott

Fixed. Link included now. Thanks for the catch.

  • johnboston

    u da man

  • nickgrzenda

QOTD 1: I'm always big on the blind shows, but I think it would be cool to hit some up DOUBLE BLIND, no “Syrah” or “Riesling” written on the bags.

QOTD 2: I like the variation that you've been doing. My one recommendation is to not do too many long shows (25min+) in a row. I think doing a variety of lengths is the way to go.

  • jskinder

QOTD1: like the format. it's nice to get in, get out. I also like the blind head to heads though, so you're call GV.
QOTD2: 10-12 mins. 5 mins in not enough GV love, 25 mins can be hard to find the time, 10-12 is right in the sweet spot.

  • Wana

I like the bag episodes, and the right length for an episode of WLTV is however long it takes. Just keep it real and keep it coming!

  • Anonymous

Nice. Allan you stole my thunder, I was gonna say dat the first time I saw Bill post. I love Lost In Translation, Groundhog Day and when I was a kid Stripes and Caddy Shack. 🙂

  • SeanieBoy

QOTD1: Love the format. I think you like it to, Gary, because you get to test yourself.
QOTD2: I like the episodes that are from about 15-25 minutes.

    Peace!

  • pawncop

I like this format, but I like the other formats as well.

What would be nice is to have a Monday blind tasting, Tuesday guest and so on. There is so much wine knowledge out there and so little time. I get a sense that you need a little structure for your time now. Hopefully, shows such as this one will allow you to continue to have fun. That is what will keep you going – so long as this is fun.

QOTD #2 – I like a 12 to 15 minute episode, the majority of the time. But when you get a really good guest that can illustrate the history of the business, 30 minutes is not long enough and a new two (2) parter is born.

Please keep having fun, this is too valuable for you to stop.

  • mikeyz

always feelin the brown bags. like to see you put to the test. rather see 10-15 min episodes with 2-3 wines on average. compare/contrast etc. keep up the good work.

  • Hotshot162

QOTD #1: I like this format. However instead of reviewing just one bottle, I would suggest to review 2 bottles. It will increase the length of the show, because a 5 minute episode of WLTV just ain't long enough. So for…

QOTD #2: I think 12-15 minute show will be the perfect length. Unless you have a guess on the show and have a good conversation going.

Again thanks for the shows GV, please keep them coming.

  • jsums

Good syrah is yum-yum. Especially when it has balance. Need to get on that list. QOTD1 – I like it, but I like the blind head-to-head better. I do like the blind format in general. QOTD2 – 15 minutes is perfect.

  • rickredekop

I don't think there is any episode that have not liked. I prefer something longer with more than 1 wine. For me there is enough entertainment factor with whatever you are talking about that up to half an hour is fine with me. Whatever works for you works for me, after all it is free

  • todd

    nice ending!

  • Anonymous

It sounds like this one could go head to head with those.

  • Beeper

Wow. Amazing pick on the wine…maybe it's producers that are wrong when you're off?

QOTD: I like this format a lot. Quick, and just like the way most of us drink wine: one bottle at a time.
dQOTD: I really like the 5 minute episodes, although a 2 part, 30 minute-each, episode has never scared me off. This format makes it really easy to keep up with my WLTV, though.

I love the 2 part shows ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, waiting for the second half is torture.

  • Anonymous

I think Oz would love to be on.

  • Anonymous

    Jodi was a $%&*%!

  • notTheFalseD

Darn power cord… Mott – could you at least tell us what Gary said at the very end???

QOTD 1 – Paper bags? Why not. But I think it would be even more fun to see Gary taste wines out of unmarked barrels.
    QOTD 2 – 16:32, with about 0.4 guests/episode. Can't go wrong with powers of 2.

  • Anonymous

Gary said the one with the most likes wins a vacation to the wine country of their choice!

  • Just Jack

My G*d Castello, you really do know her! Aint that something? lol

  • JiminAtlanta

I'm glad you took some time off. With your busy schedule you deserve it. Thanks for leaving a show for us to watch. I generally like shows about 10 minutes long unless you have a very interesting guest or you are teaching us something that takes more time. Look forward to your return. Enjoy.

  • daveTex

15 min is a good time. Some of the guests need more, in that case splitting the episodes is good for me. These single wine brown bag episodes are short, but hey, we all need a vacation now and then.

  • boomy13

“45/91” Nice GV! Much Props. Way to be on the same page, line, and letter with your pal. Enjoy the Vaca!

QOTD: I dont mind the quick 3 to 5 min shows. Its nice to change things up some every now and then. Overall, 15min is a good time for me.

  • I like 10 to 12 minutes. It's not too long and not too short, perfect I think.

  • vanswirlyvalin

I like the variety of the format lengths and not being a formulaic slave to any particular time box. I say go with what ever time you need to tell the great story, period. Just like the wines, every show should be different.

  • agentorange

QOTD: Short shows are good. Maybe not under six, but yes on the under 12.

    Nice effort today.

When you asked Mott to “show you something”, did he lift up his shirt? You looked psyched…Kidding…I think…

    Happy vacation time.

  • 20 minutes is good for me, or even 15. Short and sweet. Although I do like when you taste three or four wines in a row, so maybe changing format is best.

I gave up red wine for Lent, and that delicious-looking syrah's making me feel the pain! 🙂

  • tooch

QOTD – i like the longer shows…allows you the opportunity to use it more as an educational forum. Also, for blind tastings, i think having more than one bottle being tasted is important.

  • MDSmitty2488

I'm digging the setup right now Gary, you're showing us your chops and why you host The Thundershow! As far as length goes; I like to see you taste through a couple of wines to see how they compare and contrast. I would say 10-15 minutes is good for me.

  • scottEJ

I can't believe you're taking time away from the baby so soon. Most parents don't get their first time off until tje kid turns 18. Lucky you.

QOTD: 30 mins. Personally, I'm more of a 3-4 wine person with a nice long finish.

  • Gary you nailed that. QOTD;I like the blind tastings one or head to head, and there is no prefect time, short or long, for me.

  • brianaf

I hope Im not alone when I say that I would love to see 20 wines tasted per show. I wouldn't mind to see 45 minture WLTV episodes. Gimmie more because the show is awesome.

  • Doug

Love the brown paper bag tastings, but prefer head to head with two or three bottles…would like shows to be around 15 min. I'm still waiting for the big ass blind '07 Cali cab taste off!!!!
