Unfortunately, I was not able to go to the pinot noir wine tasting as I had other commitments that weekend. However, I would really like the chance to drink these pinot noir wines: https://zyn.ca/collections/pinot-noir

oh, I see how it is! Don’t worry Randi, your safe. I am sure I will be stuck at the winery anyway on July tenth; the 09’s are not going to rack themselves unfortunately. Now THAT would be a killer varietal, one that can rack itself.

  • Anonymous

awe..sorry youll get stuck at the winery…
So, no NY for the big WLTV day!?
I myself, am busy that day…but hoping to meet up in the city later…

QOTD's pretty vague.. borders on unanswerable.

although i'll go with a spicy asian stir fry (lots of veggies) with a riesling

or a nice loaded baked potato or potato gratin with a big cali cab (side of steak)

  • Alexandre-CF

    hey gary, nice classic episode

I hve noticed that many many niagra Pinots need 2 days to open up when they are young.
    Why don't you re-taste in 2 days.

  • Allan

The Man they called The Nailer! Nice going Mott!!!

Ok show G! I think i probably would like the wine for it's “different approach” as you said. I'm all about different..!! ; )

Qotd: with veggies? hmmmm…. probably water! ; ) no i dunno.

  • Kudos Mott!

Sorry not expanding my wine regions east of the Mississippi..have tried NJ, NY, Pa, Virginia, too hit or miss and most very overpriced. http://www.winelx.com

  • Allan

Can i sleep at your place??? ; )

  • Thanks for reviewing this one, Gary! I've been bugging your team so much lately to figure out where the bottle went… too bad WL won't be carrying this one, but that means more for me 🙂

  • mattgmann

QOTD: Riesling is a good bet, but a Chinon with bold grilled veggies works out pretty nicely too

I lover your reactions on Mott's Pickle call on the wine. give credit when credit is due.
    very cool episode.
is the 7/10 party a dry run for the episode 1000?
    qotd: vegetables, yucky….

  • adrums

    QOTD: Bordeaux Blanc

  • I love your face before you play the vid. You look so excited but also reeling a little from the Kermit Lynch show, as if your face is saying, “this is insane how good things are”

  • castello

    Any wine in a pinch.
I am your host Ca-ris-to-pher Mott!

  • cellarrat5

    Right on! SLEEPOVER!

  • cellarrat5

Nice short tight episode. Interesting reaction to the upstate NY Pinot, I swore you were going to rip it apart, that?s what I get for assuming. After last episode and this one I am going to go grab a Pinot after work!

QOTD: Gewurztraminer or dry Reisling with BBQ asparagus or squash. With the squash, half it down the middle, throw some crushed red pepper on there little salt and some garlic infused olive oil and you?re good to go! The grill marks turn out way better if you put some veggie oil on the grill first. Good eating to all the Vayniacs out there.

  • Allan, you are the MAN! Always spreading the love!

I will actually be at the Wine Lib tomorrow picking up an order, maybe GV will let me make a quick guest cameo??? I am also no longer with Penns Woods Winery, so I can talk about lots of new stuff. I am also writing articles for Cork'd too, so check those out!

  • camira43

QOTD : carmenere and green peppers!

  • YoungDave

QOTD: Loire Cabernet Franc with roasted chicken and ANY vegetables (green and root vegetables are perfect)!!

  • I'm drinking a 1989 Semillon right now (trying to expand my palate), and it's funny you should ask that question because this would probably go really well with veggies (unfortunately I don't have any around right now, or I'd find out). It's incredibly dry, with alot of herbal components. It's an interesting wine, but not very tasty – reminds me of a dry gin. Which leads me to ask myself: “Self, why bother?” I think it's cool to try different things, but I know I'd be having a better time if my wine were delicious!

  • Steve_T

    qotd: new zeland sauvignon blanc

  • guymandude

    How do YOU, miss pickles?

  • I also wish to the dogs bollocks that I lived in the U.S. why is Cinderella wine not in the U.K.?

  • drt999

    QOTD — Chenin Blanc

  • SourGrapesFC

I hear you on this one. I'm always wanting to try new things (new varietals, new regions, new pairings, etc.) and sometimes I also stop and ask why I bother. Wouldn't delicious do? Then I remember that I get bored with delicious pretty fast, which is why I start bouncing around again looking for interesting. (I'm sure that Gary would turn it into an analogy about women, but I'll leave it at that.)

  • steve r

firstly i gotta say i really dig the shirt you have on in this episode. the fact that this wine has some pickle tendencies seems interesting. i had a barolo the other day that i swear had the taste of green pepper which was really kinda weird. my favorite wine with vegetables is a nice full bodied Shiraz with some yellow squash and zucchini cooked with a little onion and bacon its a nice complement with the saltiness.
