I expected the worst when i found out that the guest was a commenter on the show…but it turned out that there was a great chemistry between him and GV so it worked pretty well.

Same here, although this show always makes me hungry when I watch it, so I usually eat something while I watch. 😀

  • Stepping out of the lurker shoes… fun show! Maybe bringing on loyal fans on as guests more often would be cool? Looked like fun!

  • smiledoc

Great show and great guest! 2007 Spottswoode! Thank you GV.

  • zrm

Just so jealous of fellow Vayniacs on the show.

What a great guest! He seems like he'd be everyone's best friend. Nice to see a regular guy on the show.

QOTD – Nugan shiraz or durif, or Marquis Phillips shiraz – all big in your face tasty bombs.

  • LOL That was a fun show especially having one of our own on the show and putting a face to the name. Good job Glen and it does not surprise me that your '98 Insignia was worthy of the drain. There were very few CA '98s worthy especially after the stellar '97.

QOTD: Penfolds Grange (no link needed), if you find one bigger, tell me about it. I may bring one on 7/10 just for you to try. 🙂

    Cheers!

  • awesome show, great job glen…unlike these posers who come on the show and don't know s….thankful that you guys reviewed two napa wines today, going to napa in july for a week of wine appreciation with good friends.

    07 Del Dotto Cabernet Franc

Okay old timer coming out of hiding.

QOTD: About six months ago I had some old vintages of Turley Meade Ranch zin (maybe 04'?), huge, bombastic, and yet still silky as all get out. If you can find it-it'll be your fix

  • QOTD; BIG WHOOP you will like the screw cap, and I really like an old vine 'zin' from the Pines, grown in The Dalles OR.
    Great show.

I was thinking Caffaro also. Big and juicy!

  • Tnx JonE

  • Enjoyed the guest. (I think we found the East Coast Jeffrey Lebowski.)
Bad QPR today on the first 2. Major passes with 7 zzzzzzzs.
Spider hands on the table is the new “air quotes”.

  • time to root out all lurkers once and for all….

I really enjoyed this episode with Glen. He is a true Vayniac and his enthusiasm was apparent. Glen, I would suggest trying the Mollydooker wines (The Boxer, Two left feet,Enchanted Path). These wines will surely knock your socks off as gary can attest to this.

Boy, Glen living the dream. Wish I could be there too. QOTD, Opollo Mtn Zin (Paso)- my standard for big and jammy. Everything else is judged on the Mtn Zin jam scale.

Saw this today. I'll grab it the next time I go shopping.

  • winecrazy

Thanks I have had several….like those wines a lot. Have a couple of Carnival of Loves I'm waiting to drink……they are just too nice to look at…..so I leave them there in the wine cellar…..lol

  • howlr5

Is Pacific Breeze using BC fruit or bringing it in from USA?

  • howlr5

I agree with the Blue Eyed Boy. Now that Gary's palate has shifted, I think he should do another episode with Mollydooker wines and see how it goes.

  • msmichigan

Great show. Gary, more guests, more often, (not fewer like you mentioned the other day)especially Vanyiacs. Great fun!

  • WineWoman

QOTD: Peachy Canyon Petite Sirah, Coturri Zin, Nalle Zin,Chase Hayne Vineyard Zin, Chiarello Zin,Brown Zin, to name a few.

  • murso

Greg Brown has moved on from T-Vines.
New partners are Jim Regusci, James Harder, and Chuck Easley. Winemaker Fernando Calanderio remains at the helm. Chuck was there, and poured the wines for me on 2 stops of a winter Producer's Tour (Which, fantastically, included stars Doug Shafer, Robin Lail, Sherri Staglin, Don Patz, Josh Jensen, Rudy Von Strasser, Greg Brewer, David Adelsheim, Harry Peterson-Nedry, Dr. Jerry Seps, and several more). My quick scribble on the '07 Petite Sirah says “huge dark berries, + TANNN!! All six of the T-Vines wines there, were a punch in the mouth of generous, dense fruit, and good balance, for the considerable weight, and alc. levels ofd a few. Not my requirements, or, general request, stylistically, but I found them all in all, very generous for their mid- modest pricings in the 30's to low $40's level.

I have the 2005 Carnival of Love. I am scared to drink it too soon. I think it was rated 99pts by RP.

  • winecrazy

    Thanks

  • howlr5

I will have to try the Opollo again. The first time I had it, the Oak Monster kicked me in the mouth.

  • howlr5

Glen, Have you tried Cameron Hughes wines from California? They have awesome Zinfandels and Petite Sirahs.

  • arpster

first time in the forum. regular guy, great show tonight. from just around the corner, the wife and i both love the show.

  • murso

QotD -big, chewy, juicy, giant, in your face, and Awesome, (but NOT GOOPY like some Aussie names,… and better than Grange) would be:

Jim Barry Armaugh Shiraz!! Please get an older vintage, or age 10, min. You're Welcome.

Yalumba Octavius!! – pretty damned dense.

and the high end of Roman Bratasiuk's Clarendon Hills. -Shz, or Grenache. Don't matter.

and , of course, high end, low-yield/ low-production ($40+) Zins.

  • murso

I had that Nugan Estate Durif a couple months ago, and was really impressed.

    LIKE!

  • murso

And Charles Smith's high end wines, various sources in Walla Walla, Red Mountain, and/or Yakima.
