I expected the worst when i found out that the guest was a commenter on the show…but it turned out that there was a great chemistry between him and GV so it worked pretty well.

Great show! Fun week so far. I'm not guest'd out yet, Vaynerchuk!

QOTD: 2007 Tor Kenward “Cimarossa Vineyard” Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is the closest thing I've had that you'd be looking for. It's pretty good. 93 from Parker and Tanzer.

  • dsallen

I can't 'full screen' this weeks shows, but it still works for all the others…hmmm…

  • winecrazy

I just got some TOR…….Thanks!!!! Gonna try it soon… 🙂

  • winecrazy

  • dsallen

Great! I am sure you will enjoy it. It was recommended to me by my “Master of Wine” buddy. LOL Sorry, John – I always gotta throw that around!

  • cabdrinker

have zero idea who you are? sorry

  • cabdrinker

I miss the good ol days 🙁
    😉

  • Try the Tobin James “James Gang Reserve” I think it's their best zin. I found it at Bevmo of all places. 🙂

  • Michael D

QOTD: Glen, first of all – good job on the show with Gary. I keep track of the wines that I have had, and when I look at those that I scored the highest, they tend to be big, dark-fruit flavored, somewhat oaked reds that have what Gary calls a “delicious factor.” I went through my list and came up with the following, which are pretty much in the $15 – $20 range, although it sounds like you generally pay more for your wine. For what it's worth:

    Artesa Elements
    Juan Gil Monastrell [mourvedre]
    Cline Cashmere [gsm blend]
    Hedges CSM [Cab/Merlot/Syrah Blend]
    Valentin Bianchi Famiglia Malbec
    Shea Wine Cellars Pinot Noir
    Parkers Estate Syrah ?Riverside Crossing?
    Marquis Phillips Sarah?s Blend

I am sure that others have some better suggestions, but I enjoy drinking all of these wines. Enjoy!

  • orangebottle

That is a great show. You guys made me laugh. I love all the genuine reactions. You?ve made this a fantastic community.
QOD: I felt Silver Oak cab was juicy and big to me.

  • castello

They have a great tasting bar with country music playing and cowboys everywhere.

  • GregB

Big G, Great show. Lots of fun. Every thing in context. I love it.

Qotd: 2002 or 03 Shafer Hillside Select. Yum!

  • castello

I'm still gonna push the Castello di Amarosa Cabs and Merlowwws.
    http://www.castellodiamorosa.com/
    Rafanelli blew me away also.
Great show Glen and Gary! I think I'm gonna be on the show on 7/10!

  • John Rogers

One of the real shows and a great quess The interactions between Gary and Glen showed mutual respect . Even if their respective palates are different, there is still some common ground.

QOTD; I thought the Columbia Crest Merlot H3 2007 was great. Not into big wines but this merlot made an impression.

  • BuddhaChu

QOTD: Sorry, can't help ya with the quest for big-n-juicy.

  • Anonymous

Good…short hair accentuates your positive. 😉

  • Allan

Oh Yesssssss!! Great, great show. Awesome!!

Nice going winecrazy. And we actually talked about this on the last ep, that more of the “hardcore” Vayniacs should be on the show, so this is really exciting. Keep it up G! Thnx! : )

*But you should have brought out the big-ass glasses for these “monsters”*

I love all wines, if they're well made. Big as well as “not so big”.

Glen was like the ultimate down-to-earth, cool dude. He has a little of “The Dude” 'bout him. 🙂

Professor Mott? hmmmmmm, has a ring to it! 🙂

Qotd: soooo many…… (I will be back with more later) but first off; in recent times i have actually enjoyed a Barbera from Segehsio that was biiiiiig. And you don't see many Barberas outside of Italy….

One of my all-time favourite bottles; 1995 Diamond Creek Volcanic Hill, which i had last year, blew my mind! As close to a perfect bottle of wine i have ever tasted! ! ! It made me weep,,, I had it when it was still a baby, i know.
It had many more years ahead of it; in the realm of 30 years is my guess. 99points.

If it's over the top, bombastic fruit-bombs i want i usually go to Australia i must say:
Amon-Ra i love, Jasper Hill Georgia's Paddock was the most elegant fruit bomb i've ever tasted. Stonewell from Peter Lehmann.
I think Greenock Creek might be something for you Glen, Alice's or Apricot Block or somethin'…. I had Apricot Block once, and was a little scared because it read 18,5% on the label, but it was all in control.

    See you in the comments-section………………………………………………………………..

  • Great show guys! So here is my suggestion:

Warrabilla Parola's Limited Release Durif / 18% abv.

    http://www.cellartracker.com//wine.asp?iWine=37

    The real bang!

  • QOTD: If you like big juicy fruit try the Greg Grahm Zinfandel out of Lake County. It's like drinking jam or Jelly. My wife loves it, I'm ok with it. It's well made, but it is truly over the top!

    Merus!

  • Anonymous

Mr. Harder is Regusci’s partner @ Nine North. I liked Parcel 41 (Merlot).
Mr. Easley is from Lynmar. Yummy. Pinot Noirs. and Chard.

  • YoungDave

QOTD: Just for you, Glen: 2006/07 Opolo Mountain Zinfandel (rolling in between 16.5% and 17% alc/vol, at least that is what is printed so it may be even higher, this is pure viscous raspberry liqueur… but the fruit somehow contains most of the alcohol so that you don't heat in your throat… but you'll feel it in your chest after it goes down, Glen! Cheers!)

  • Agnieszka

what about Clio (Bodegas El Nido), from Jumilla. I had the 2003 some time ago. pretty tasty and big for my taste.

  • Mr. Magoo

    Glen,
Good job on the show, there is only one wine for you Switchback Ridge Petite Sirah, love the T-vine Zins too.

  • Anonymous

    Thanks a miilion!!!!

  • Anonymous

Thanks…you can never laugh to much I always say. 🙂

  • Anonymous

Thanks Michael….. I was just talking to someone I haven’t seen in years and he was telling me how he wants to find cheaper wines so I’m all about trying anything regardless of price. Wouldn’t that be nice if I can find a Harlan for $20…..lol I’d buy the winery!!!!!!

    I love Shea Pinot!!!!!!!!

  • BenBurch

GV – I was a little disappointed you didn't have the Big Ass Glass out for the Big Ass Vino. Oh well, great show none-the-less.

QOTD: Chronic Cellars Petite Sirah. I'll have to get the vintage and exact name for you Sunday when I go back in. We just got it at my wine bar and I tried it on Tuesday. It's pretty big. I don't drink a ton of huge wines, I try to keep them balanced. So, I'm not sure how it'll hit your palate, but for me it was enormous. I liked it a lot oddly enough.

BTW, I am a lurker who has finally come out!

  • Richie

QOTD: 1998 Sterling Cab. Had it for my birthday in january.

  • Anonymous

Their Earthquake series is better across the board. I am not too big of a fan of Michael and David in general, but the Philips brothers are good guys for the most part. Michael use to give me the cold shoulder whenever I would come in, but now that he knows that both my dad and I are in the industry he actually talks about his wine. Their Earthquake Cab is one of the better ones in Lodi, but that is not saying much. Lodi appellation can grow over 60 varietals in some cases quite well, but Cab is not one of them.

Hi GV & Mott, the show with Glen ?WineCrazy? was awesome, made me dream of being on the show, take some bottles of Brazilian Sparkling for tasting there? Nice guests lately.

QOTD: Yacochuya 2004, malbec, from Salta, Argentina. Another Michel Rolland consulted wine, so beeee careful. Just kidding. 😉 Good wine.
And there is always the Amarones, man!

  • Mauricio_Fernandes

Awesome show Glen, Congratulations!! I think we have simillar taste on wine.
I had a Spanish wine, full of fruit when I went to Barcelona for my honeymoon, it's the Atteca 2007, old vines garnacha, from Bodegas Ateca. Great wine.

  • Oakmon’s BF

You retired in 1995 and you speak of turning 50 as some distant future event.

    Sounds like a good deal.

  • nitaT
