I expected the worst when i found out that the guest was a commenter on the show…but it turned out that there was a great chemistry between him and GV so it worked pretty well.

Thanks! Great show btw. You were a fun guest. You seemed a little bit reserved, like there was more there but you were holding back. You shoulda stolen the show from GV. It woulda been fun.

The main reason I never came out before was that I couldn’t figure out how to register. I got it all figured out now, so hopefully I’ll be really active now!

For a change, a beer: Mikkeller 'Black', the darkest black chocolate mix with peat, comes in piccolos… 17.5%, had to be finished with champagne yeast, BIG…
Wolf Blass Grey Label Cab Sauv 2007 was huge for price (we do get hammered with a 39% tax on wine downunder). Voilà.

WOW..So much love for my friend…makes me happy to see so many love Glen, as I do.
    Just sayn…

Oh yeah, Best before is '12/12/2017', on the 'black', see you in 7 years then… Also was meant to be the 'darkest, bitterest chocolate”…

  • WineTechie

Great show! Gary, your wine knowledge shows through in every episode and it is a pleasure to learn from you.

QOTD; I vote for a 1997 Harlan. Can't afford it for the price. Also, give Tait Ball Buster a try.

  • great show, you are worth the repeat kudos!

  • smiledoc

LOL! Must have real glassware somewhere!

  • ChrisV

Lots of love taps going on early in this episode! I smell a bromance for sure.

  • lawrenceleichtman

Now this is a guest, though he is really isn't a guest from all of his copious notes here. A true Vayniac. This episode we learned something, went through wines that Glen picked no diss to K-Murph. My most bombastic cheap pleasure right now is Michael David Petit Petite with Petite Syrah and Petite Verdot. Over the top black fruit and not expensive. I bought a 3-pack of the T-vine and have not opened one yet. Petite Syrah is fast becoming a favorite.

  • DCaragher

GV – Great show, nice to see a quality Vayniac, keepin' it on the real tip! Going guest crazy aren't we…

QOTD: Check out the Black Noval…it's a port, but not in the traditional sense, goes for about $18! Really pretty nice…enojy!

  • Great episode, great job Glen. Sorry I have no recommendation for you, I'm just at the start of my wine journey. Always cool to see a real Vayniac as a guest.

  • XpensiveWino

Great show, nice picks Glen. I like Gary have not had a Dalla Valle in quite some time. I too felt as though I could find similar bottles through out the Valley for a lot less money. I would love to try the Pinot, but sadly I'm Pinot'd out. After purchasing my allocations from Kanzler, Kosta, Sea Smoke….etc, my cellar needs some diversity!

QOTD: Glen you should try the Elderton Command Shiraz. Big and ripe, with tons of depth, but extremely well balanced. If that doesn't work for you there is always Luca Malbec. If that stuff doesn't turn your teeth purple for four or five days nothing will lol! Since you're a cigar smoker (which I love btw) try the Padron Little Hammer, big, strong, smooth! Best cigar ever. I'll be having one for Fathers Day while at the beach.

Gary, I guess in order to get my DOMESTIC SPARKLER show, I guess I'll need to do something cool with Crush It or comment more, so that I can come on the show and pick the wines myself! Is that what it's going to take? Just asking. Have a good one 😉

  • smiledoc

Hey, already posted y-day, forgot to give you guys s..t about the mini wine glasses for the big wines you tasted on the show, what was up with that?????

  • Anonymous

Glen, now we understand why you dont watch TV. Big up’s to responding to everyone in the Vayner nation!!!

  • Although not technically a first time poster I am a terrible lurker – I get more involved in the Twitter and ustream. Great show guys enjoyed the bigger wines.

QOTD – many choices but living in Big Wine Central, home of the oak-monster South Australia, I would love to recommend a few wines that are big but also well made: 'The Freedom' 1843 Shiraz (Langmeil Winery – Barossa) and Michael Shiraz (Wynns Coonawarra Estate).

  • romtina

Really liked the show and the guest… but how about some ladies as guests? Just sayin'…
QOTD: My recommendation would be the 2006 Larkmead Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa. Great fruit, very complex. http://www.larkmead.com/wines/06nvcs.php

  • FriscoGrapes

WineCrazy, I love you dude! I can drink those over-the-top wines all day long without food too.

QOTD: One of my favorites of all time… The Heritic Petite Sirah by Four Vines. Take it easy bro!

Favourite show of the year so far……

Also, Glen, more Segehsio. They have some turbo-charged Zins, but you probably know them already….? Also Venom?

  • Thanks for being on Glen / @WineCrazy. And having picked some great wines.

    QOTD: Chateau Montviel Pomerol

This is how to guest show should run

  • BillyClyde

Almost felt like I was sitting in the house with two buddies. What a great time.
I'm an occasional commenter( that make me a semi-lurker?), mostly because I don't have much to say. Maybe as my palate develops my commenting skills will too.
Don't drink many big wines though so, sorry…no recommendations for you.
WineCrazy… you should be a “regular” guest. You two guys made my damn day

  • winecrazy

Thanks Billy!!!!! You just made mine!!!! Try some big wines…you'll be glad you did. 🙂

  • winecrazy

Thank you Dan…!!!!! I had a blast. KMurph knows her stuff. She helped me on the picks. I just narrrowed it down to 3. She had some awesome wines though but I had already drank them so I went with these. Glad I did…that T-Vine rocked.

  • Fun Show! Def. a classic!

  • winecrazy

Yes, I have had them. Thank you!!!!! ….show of the year huh.. I'm honored.!!!!

  • winecrazy

Thanks Frisco….I'll try it for sure. Did you see my shirt!!!!!

  • winecrazy

Romtina….thank you!!! I was just out to Napa and visited Larkmead. Nice wines!!! I just picked up a few 06's. Now I have to loose 20 pounds before I can go out and enjoy it with a nice steak. 🙂

  • winecrazy

Thanks not technically Lurker #13….Yeah!…. The lurkers are out in Droves..!!!!

  • winecrazy

Tell me about it……. I was scoping out the big a** glass in the office but there was only one. Would have brought my own if I knew… 🙂

  • winecrazy

Thanks Wino..!!!!! I know how those allocations can be. You need to buy more to get more so then yuo find yourself with all this wine yuo don't want to drink because it look too good in the wine racks…LOL I have the same problem.

  • FriscoGrapes

Glen, I did actually, but I just went back and reviewed it again to see what it said on the bottom. I live in Frisco, Texas, hence my name. I look forward to meeting you some time. Take it ez my friend. Oh, and I loved the line near then end when you said you just wanted to hug Gary and pick him up. That made me laugh so hard. LOL!

  • passion4wine

The grapes are from the US
    http://www.pacificbreezewinery.com/killer-cab-pacific-breeze
Again… I wish it were easier to get wine here from the States, one of the most frustrating things about moving here. We do get some wine from France though that is not exported to the States, such as this -we always have at dinner parties in Grenoble as it is so good and inexpensive!

  • A second on the Mikkeller for sure.

  • Anonymous

Naw, I haven’t yet. I bought two bottles of the ’06 off of WTSO when they still could ship to Texas. Drank one at a Wine Festival here in Fredericksburg, Texas, and saving the other for 2012-2015. I think it will be very polished by then. Read my review on Cork’d,….user name amsgpwarrior.

  • winecrazy

    Cool Thanks…..a “Classic” huh.

Nice!!!!!! I may just land up to the right there with all the favorite episodes if this keeps up….lol

  • passion4wine
  • winecrazy

Thanks Mott for fixing the misspelling of my last name…. took me two years to get Gary to pronounce it right….. it only took you 2 mins to spell it right….lol

  • BillyClyde

QOTD – Wwhat's the record for comments? Glen's show might challenge it

  • cellarrat5

You should have snagged it, would have been great if you had the big ass glass and Gary had those tiny little things.

  • Fun episode Glen, you both did a great job and seemed like you were just hanging out having a good time. We aren't that big of fans of big wines, we prefer more mid range type wines that go well with food. Reislings, Chinons, Sancerres, and Rhone wines are my (Andy) favorites. Edie really likes New Zealand Sav blancs and Moscato D'Astis. I really liked some of the big wines I tried in Walla Walla last month. I have a bottle of “The Boy” from K vintners that was really good, Saviah cellars “Big Sky Cuvee” (had to get that one since we are from the Big Sky state, plus it was super good!), Spring Valley Vinyard's “Frederick” was redonkulously good and super big! If you haven't been to Washington state to try wines you should go Glen, they are very nice there and have delicious “BIG” wines.

  • Krunch

A great guest, Enjoyed the fact he was right at home in the Co-Pilot seat and he was trying to expand his pallet, (and keep “his” wallet in check) was well.

QOTD: MIOLO LOTE 43 -2004 (2002 if you can find it) 50% Cab. 50% Merlot – From BRAZIL even Gary hasn't had this.

Thanks, for doing the show Glen, Enjoy.

  • wekemas

Great show! Really enjoyed the “down home goodness” feel and fun energy. And so nice to see the who behind winecrazy!

Wish I could help with the big, huge, exploding, gigantic wine question but honestly nothing comes to mind. Clearly I need to venture out more. 🙂
