Pretty average episode apart from a great quote of the day; ‘Mott is a huge pot smoker!’

    Hey Gary,
My wife and I are wondering where in the finger lake's your guest's port came from? We live in Cuse' and want to learn more about the local wineries.

  • orangebottle

Dose GV speak Na'vi? I didn't know. Nice.

  • A dumb Rhein king

Great laid back day. Where's that “I'll be there next week” at?? 😀 Lazy Friday again tomorrow!

At least you ended the guest show week with a couple of home runs.

SQOTD: GV, I'll give you 15%.

    QOTD: A white dessert wine.

  • Hey Colin

No problem mate, you did very well. I can imagine it’s a pressure situation being on WLTV!

I know! It’s a 91 Dows I think. I still have not watched the episode.
I acctually tried that vintage, not bad at all. I did not see your
post, just give the winery a call with your info and I’ll get those
    packed up for you.

  • Michael C in MKE

Gary I've always been pro guest. I would however like to see some more real quick solo episodes again.

I think you have a pretty good connection.

    Kind Regards,

Guess GV ran out of hustle. Oh well, nobody can bee 100% all the time. Perhaps some of us should hold open tryouts via comment section.

HELLO AND WELCOME TO WLTV COMMENT SECTION MY NAME IS CELL-LAR-RAT-5, AND THIS MY FRIENDS IS THE LONGEST BREAK WE HAVE EVER HAD IN HISTORY. LET?S GET RIGHT DOWN TO IT…

TODAY WE WILL BE TRYING THREE DIFFRENT WINES WITH SOME OF MY FAVORITE FACE MELTING AROMAS, ONE THAT SMELLS LIKE SHEEPS BUTT ANOTHER THAT SMELLS LIKE A TIRE FIRE AND ANOTHER THAT SMELLS LIKE STRAIGHT DIPER…

HOWS ABOUT WE GIVE THIS DIPER A SNIFFY SNIFF!!!!

  • cellarrat5

happens to… well… all of us. I am guilty of haveing a little too much time on my hands, and therefore post often and at great length.

  • no, no, 15 min tops and packed with thunder, it's friday and I can't spend more time infront of the screen, unless the gilr get really p…..

2006 Dead Letter Office hittin' my palate this evenin': (Henry's Drive to some)

Pepper for days, Burnt tire combo, fleshy grape, Liqourice-funfest. Bright red and BLACK/ BLACK fruits, Great acidity, which keeps things nice and tidy. Not at all goopy like some Aussie Shiraz i've had. But…….
Not the most complex Shiraz of all time…………………………………89p. (That's not bad)

Dispite what some people say, GV is still among my top 5 coolest people of all time!!!!!!!!

    And that's a compliment.

    Cheers

    🙂

    Happy Birthday Mischa!

    I don't understand why Mott didn't do a show. . . . .?

  • Anonymous

Of coarse youre correct, but it was a fortified wine in that style, there
    was
no pretense, as you know Shafer in Napa is a reputable winery. thanx

Hah, great end to that show. May have been another guest show, but who doesn't love 13 minutes on the couch with a friend?

  • Paul A. from LB, NY

If you want to learn more about FL wines, you should definitely makes plans to go to the Finger Lakes Wine Fest in July every year. Check out http://www.FLWineFest.com for more info. The event is awesome, $35 in advance for all-you-can-taste over 200 wineries, and you can buy the wine, if you like, on the spot.

Lurker here… I feel as though karma is getting back at me with the lack of videos this week for being a lurker, so I'm posting a comment in hopes that it will change our luck.

  • cellarrat5

See Gary!! We are starting to get so emaciated without our WLTV that Lurkers are coming out of the woodwork. Just set up the flip cam and put it on the table for christ sake, anything!!! We will watch little Mischa eat her birthday cake (happy birthday by the way).

  • hey thanks so much for the tips

  • OK enough is enough! I'm sitting out here on the deck with a glass of vino wanting to relax watching a show and there is none to be found!

I guess I'll go check some oldie but goodies.

    TGIF

    Cheers!

  • Here, here, I agree!!!!

  • With this sabbatical, I may ponder what will I do without Gary? Oh the agony. 🙁

Will I need to get a life? Nahhhhhhhhh

  • Top 5? Give me 4 others.

  • His last “Laid Back Friday” has taken “laid back” to a new level.

My QOTD to the Vayner Nation: What person has had the most profound, i.e. negative or positive effect on humankind for the past 2,000 years?

P.S. Let's take JC (Jesus Christ) out of the mix so we won't get too religious and one would believe an obvious choice.

    Cheers!

  • lawrenceleichtman

A whole week with nothing. Is GV OK?

  • njc2o

    TO GARY –

Its kinda hard with you not around
Know you in heaven smiling down
Watching us while we pray for you
Every day we pray for you
Till the day we meet again
In my heart is where I'll keep you friend
Memories give me the strength I need to proceed
    Strength I need to believe
My thoughts big I just can't define
Wish I could turn back the hands of time
Us in the 6, shop for new clothes and kicks
    You and me taking flicks
Making hits, stages they receive you on
    I still can't believe you're gone
Give anything to hear half your breath
I know you still living you're life, after death

  • beaulieu99

Lurker #2 here hoping this post will bring GV back. I feel empty, a whole week on the traine with no WLTV.

  • lawrenceleichtman

So I assume that WLTV is dead based on the video!!

  • Mott

Don't worry everybody WLTV will be back next week. Gary was nice enough to let me take off on Monday for the holiday and he was traveling the rest of this week so that's why no new shows this week. He'll be back on Monday.

  • winesaurusrex

Sweet, maybe we can get a brown bag show sometime next week? eh eh 🙂

  • njc2o

    motttttttttttt bring him back

  • David M Roberts

I like the idea Dominus had, so here is my answer to his QOTD: a tie between Freud and Bill Gates. Freud because I never tire of inuendo involving cigars, and Gates because of his influence that made the PC a household tool, thus giving us WLTV… even if the lads at Apple really invented Windows first…

  • JR Laz

Another naughty Lurker…thanks Mott, serious withdrawal setting in, need GV fix, getting ugly.

  • CanadianChris

Awesome show a lot of fun. Posted a twitpic watching this ep on the iPad.

    Mott is a solid 25%

Qotd: for me ice wine is definitely one of those have to have around cause every once in awhile you wanna bust it out.

  • RobinC

    Pinotage or Rose

  • Ironically, I was enjoying a Jonesy Tawny Port when I watched this one. Great episode…

QOTD: Most of my purchases are pop and pours (budget's a little tight lately to restock the wine cache), so it's hard to find one. Probably my Port. I sample a little now and then between the other bottles I buy.

As for %, it's a 50/50 split for GV & Mott. GV brings the energy and the passion, Mott's the behind the scenes guru holding it all together.

In the meantime, my QOTD: Why is it that cheaper Chianti and Rioja wines are better than their more expensive counterparts? The first person to answer correctly will be a guest on WLTV!*

*Terms and conditions can be found somewhere in the fine print. 🙂

  • Oakmon's BF

    They stole it from Xerox.

  • Loved the episode. Great to have Colin on the show and recognize Mott for his contributions. QOTD: Sauternes. I'm not a sweet wine guy, but every once in a while I like to splurge on a golden bottle of nectar.

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)

    BREAKING NEWS:

    This just in….

Cubatobaco (Ray) has checked himself into rehab due to lack of WLTV. We'll keep you posted as we get the news!

Now back to our regular program…

  • If it wasn't for Creative and their superior technology, Steves Apple “copypod” would have been a flop. Jobs stole the user interface from Creative and had to pay 100m plus other damages.

  • Just Jack

You shouldn't exclude him because it leaves out an interesting question. Who's actions had the more profound effect, JC or Pontius Pilate? (I know the rules re religion, but it has been over a week since the last episode so I think the rules are suspended until GV's return). In any event it's not really a religious question. I had a history professor posit this question once and it has stuck with me. It can be answered on many different levels. The professor was using it to illustrate that the martyr-er is just as critical to the process as the martyr. Most folks would find it a useless inquiry, but I have always been fascinated by it.

  • Just Jack

Actualy I would prefer to watch Mischa eat her birthday cake over some of the guest episodes lately (MM for example). We need more family involvement.

  • Just Jack

I'm with Dominus. We need to know the other 4 to put GV in context 😉

  • cellarrat5

Razzzzzzzzzzz, but I might have to agree.
