Pretty average episode apart from a great quote of the day; ‘Mott is a huge pot smoker!’

    May 2010 on the thundershow?

    PAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

probably should go five episodes a week, all blind through June just to make up for all the GUESTS and WEAK WEEKS.

j/k gv love you would never take you for granted.

but man i've hit the archive hard the last few weeks.

  • I need to get more into winesssssssssssssssssss…what kind of wine should this newbie try???

  • The wine that I enjoy as an “occasional” wine is either a Canadian Icewine, a German Eiswein or a Trockenbeerenauslese. They are all phenomenal wines that you can sip on over the course of an evening and enjoy the intensity of flavor in them.

GV what happened to the old school? I MISS THE OLD SCHOOL!! BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!

  • Oh my gosh that was good, lot of smiles & fun…had my bit of port out, enjoyed you all.

What I like to have every once in a while is blush.

  • waynooo daaa wino

Yo Dude, I'd start out wit Domestic White Wines first. Say $7 to $10 Chenin Blancs,
Rieslings and Gewurztraminers…… Then go wit some Chardonnays & Sauvignon Blancs.

  • waynooo daaa wino

Then again, that range might have ta be $7 to $20………

  • Randall

    Mmmm…… Gewurztraminers…
    (Don't forget the Pinot Grigio…)

  • Randall

Hold on, man! HOLD ON!! Help is on the way… see? I think I can hear the sirens… You're gonna MAKE it!! πŸ™‚

  • Randall

Here, here, old boy… smashing… jolly good show…

Great call on the Roaring 40's and the Porto. Killer combo!!

  • I have to try Porto again sometime, I had a Porto Ferreira Ruby last year but didn't like the sweetness and density (It was almost like drinking blood, true blood!).

Anyone had a Sandeman porto? I'm always compelled to buy this wine only because of the label: http://www.sandeman.eu/

  • ErieWineGuy

It's great to be back after a two-month long vacation.

    My occasional wine? Gevrey-Chambertin.

    100% Gary, 100% Mott.

  • With the South Africa World Cup coming up thought I'd share a great saffa Port, Allesverloren Estate Port 2006. Aromas of fruit cake, honey, raisins and black currant with chocolate and mocha undertones. yummy and rich πŸ™‚

Please do a South African show for a World Cup feature, but get some of our best wines this time πŸ™‚ Bosman Family Vineyards Old Bush Vines Chenin blanc, Diemersfontein Pinotage, Ataraxia, Bourchard Finlayson or Hamilton Russell Chardonnay. Please please πŸ™‚

    Where's episode #870?

  • Hey Justin
Sparkling wines certainly have their place and I appreciate them, but like you say their not often my first choice. There's nothign wrong with drinking a big full bodied (Aussie) red!
    Cheers

God, how I love vintage Port!! Nice little show. But, what happened to this week's episodes? Nice job, Colin.

QOTD on WLTV: Mott & EK 95%, GV 5% πŸ˜‰

QOTD: Port certainly is not an every day wine or even every week. Well, actually, a nice Late Bottled Vintage (LBV) Port I would probably have once or twice a week. But a vintage Port, due to their expense and awesomeness, I would only have occasionally.

Now a message to GV: I have been watching WLTV since the beginning. I found Wine Library on Wine Searcher or some other search engine back in 2003 or 2004 when I was looking for a wine that I could not get in Ohio. I found it at WineLib so I ordered a couple of bottles. Good results, very good wine (Montevetrano). So, of course, I started getting regular e-mails from WineLib pimping wines. One day, there was an e-mail that said something about “Wine Library Director of Operations, Gary Vaynerchuk, rated this wine 94 points”. And my first thought was, who the heck is Gary Vaynerchuk and why would I care what he rated this wine – or any other wine for that matter? More and more e-mails mentioned what this mysterious “Gary Vaynerchuk” thought about the wine offered in the e-mail. Still, I really didn't care. Then one day, I got a WineLib e-mail that announced this video blog on wine (what's a video blog, I asked?) hosted by this Gary Vaynerchuk character. Curious as to who the heck this guy was and enticed by “video” so I could see someone talking to me, I clicked on the link and watched that first episode in Quicktime. He reviewed three California wines from VeritΓ© and I was impressed with his tasting notes. In fact, I ordered a couple of bottles of the Le Muse shortly thereafter. I thought, “hey, this little punk actually knows what he's talking about”. So I kept watching. I saw Gary's style evolve and become more “in your face” than it was at the beginning. I saw him grow as a host and as a video personality. So I have enjoyed the shows. But even more so, I have enjoyed the wines, the knowledge, and, frankly, if you don't get a few laughs out of the absolutely abominable pronunciations from Gary, you really need a sense of humor. But even that is endearing. I recall when the term “Vayniac” got coined and how I really wasn't thrilled being called a Vayniac for quite some time. I mean, the nerve of this guy? But then I thought about it and in the end, I had to agree that he had me hooked and I was a “true believer” and therefore am indeed a Vayniac. Now, I'm not active in the WLTV Forums – wish I was but I just don't have the spare time. I do try and comment on every episode of WLTV and I certainly watch every one. Sometimes Gary tries my patience. Sometimes he disappoints me. But he always entertains me. He always gives it his best shot. He is always real, and truthful and I appreciate WLTV and his efforts as well as those of Mott and EK before him.

While I am handing out kudos, I would be remiss if I didn't include Brandon, Ian, Jeff D in shipping and KMurph, who all do a great job at Wine Library and make me happy to continue to be a customer as well as a Vayniac.

So, thanks, Gary. I, for one, really appreciate Wine Library and WLTV. They both are a major part of my wine experience and enjoyment.

    Cheers!

  • Thanks Andrew, really appreciate the sincere comment.

This is what happens when so many of you out there complain about guest shows, look what you have done, look what you guest haters have become!!

  • njc2o

Everyone link up your favorite archive episodes you've been watching to kill time without new WLTV eps!

  • I understand the strain and stress to put out a video very often. But do tell if you are taking av vacation or not will have time to upload. Last friday episode hinted something about not being in next week, but trying to do an on the road show. More specifics are needed so people don't get disapointed or worse. I get it, the daughter turning 1, the missus need som love and there is business. Information is the key, don't forget that.

  • Cubatobaco (Ray)
  • Randall

Gotta have the Vinho Verde, too…

  • JayZee13

@cellarrat5: Yeah, I don't post that much but for some reason the lack of episodes got me nostalgic at lunchtime today. Thx!

  • johnfarrin

It just dawned on me that we're going about this all wrong. What is needed here is a little reverse psychology. Something like, “Yo G, thanks for the break. I've been able to re-connect with my family and other loved ones. You never realize how much time you have for the important things until you shake the addiction. THANKS, in a couple of more days I'll be completely cured.” That ought to guarantee a new ep in no time πŸ™‚

  • Randall

Unfortunately, ouya ustja etla the atca outta the agba about our lanpa… πŸ™‚
