Pretty average episode apart from a great quote of the day; ‘Mott is a huge pot smoker!’

  • While it wasn’t decanted it was opened long before we recorded the episode if my memory serves.

  • While it wasn’t decanted it was opened long before we recorded the episode if my memory serves.

  • Someday I’ll sit Gary down and we’ll chat about our long past. Or, maybe I’ll interview him!!!

    Thanks for commenting.

  • Actually, Allan, his office is MUCH cleaner than I’ve seen it before. Boxes usually mean wine or shirts or other products… not mess.

  • “an explosion of minerality”. Nice.

  • I told him he needs to bring back some of the earlier episodes that had skits in them. Maybe he will with you asking too!

  • RosΓ© huh? Hmm. I _never_ have any. Might add this to the list. Just to try something I normally don’t. Good suggestion.

  • BALLER! Thanks for answering.

  • Hey hey hey I picked the Port. πŸ™‚ Glad you like it.

  • ALL. MOTT. YESS!

  • Exactly the reason I think I like them occasionally too. Because they are simply nice to drink.

  • Glad you enjoyed the episode (and the format!). DP!

QOTD1: I would not be able to watch 869 episodes from the flip-cam.

QOTD2: Occasionally I'll have cabernet sauvignon.

  • Mini QOTD:

    Gary 90%
Mott 10%…. although that last 10% to get to 100 is sometimes the toughest

QOTD: i have a few drinks that i keep around for the occasion. Sake, Buttery Chardonnay (to eat with Popcorn), Cognac, Late Harvest Fruit Wines

  • Allan

    Mini Qotd:

    Mott: 33%

    Gary: 33%

    Sasha: 34%…………………………..

Now make the next one a Sasha-show!!!!!!!! would make me a happy…… πŸ™‚

Hey, Colin is alllllright and totally funny!
I am looking forward to more “just the wine” episodes, but geeky guests are always appreciated.

Gary & Mott are definitely a team, like the Jerry Lewis & Dean Martin of the wine world ; )
The interaction between them, especially when Gary passes the glass and the discussion that follows adds to the magic of the show.

Please sir, for those of us with sensitive stomachs, can you try to use the tripod for the flip-cam whenever possible. Thanks!

QOTD: Sweeter Rieslings, Muscats, Dessert wines and Bubbles. All delicious and better when shared with either friends & family, fabulous desserts or both.

    Amen brother. Amen.

You mean every guest except the fraudster MM don't you? That guy pissed me off with his dishonesty.

Amen brother. That is why I have started the following Face Book Page:

I will be completing the layout and info sections this evening if anyone wants to join the effort. I will of course be donating one cent for everyone that becomes a fan to a charity that feeds some kids or something*

    *(maximum contribution $20).

You've got it in front of you. Ports are my stress relievers. Enjoyed, felt totally relaxed. Colin has got me beat. I calculate that the first episode I saw was #12 then went back to the first ones. I think I have been writing comments since #22.

All I have to say is that everyone should join my new Face Book Page:

It is time for the return of Sasha!

  • Use port often in chocolate tasting. Got a colheita 1961 in my stash for drinking next year.

QOTD: Don PX (spanish dessert) with two pieces of dark chocolate while taking a hot bath.

  • Alexandre-CF

100% you; 100% mott and 100% the vayniacs

QOTD:late harvest and port is that kinda wine for me. i think i drink port 2 or 3 times a year

  • divyamistry

Every time I go to a store, Port is usually >$30, so I can't buy that. Has anyone had a <$20 Port that you'd call “bang for your buck”? I'd like to try that.

  • I've always been a bigger fan of Mott than of Gary. And I can't hide it!

  • Yeah, I definitely don't bring anything to the party when it comes to wine knowledge. But, what I lack Gary makes up for in spades. So, I hope it was bearable. Thanks for watching!

  • I regret to say that I have never tried Vayniac Cab. Must get my hands on a glass.

  • Pairing with grapes? Great insight there. Must try.

  • +1

  • How about a photo of you and the iPad and WLTV? !!

  • I've found that most wine newbs start with crisp or sweet wines and slowly graduate to dry robust ones. Not sure why, but it sure seems like the trend.

Welcome to the Wine world and thanks for answering the QOTD!

  • You know what? I need to pair my wines more often. I find that I will just drink wine or have it with a meal but I really should get more cheese and other things to pair with it.

  • Hi fitfortwotv! Thanks for using Viddler and for watching WLTV!

  • I can't roll as heavy as you but I can wish! πŸ™‚

  • Always delicious when sharing with friends and family! Agreed!

  • I wish I participated in the comments more often. Maybe I will.

  • I know what you mean about value… that is why I only keep one port around at a time. I go and buy one and keep it until I “need” it. So, I'll have it for 6 months or more usually. Maybe try that?

  • Thanks so much! I tweeted about it. Sweet photo.

  • Corkshack

    Shasha is wayyyy overdue!

  • lawrenceleichtman

Lease do, it is always fun to read people's comments here

  • My pleasure! Thanks for the hard work. I’ve always thought your player was good and am glad to be able to use it from the iPad. I will be sure to mention it to other fans at work… BTW, great job on the show!

  • Mauricio_Fernandes

Nice show GV, great guest too. Mott is always a nice backing voice on the show, always great. How is Misha doing? Found the dress I sent her? And how is Sasha??? He is the Man.

    Side QOTD: 60%GV, 30% Mott, 10% Sasha V.
QOTD: Port, and whites (at the beach), I`m more into reds?

Question on Port: Can you open a Port bottle and drink it from time to time, or you have to get people to finish it on the same day?

  • Cigar or dessert wine, yeah-my favorite way to drink wine! That copper and penny thing….please tell me you didn't put that in your mouth too pick up on that.

  • Unlike most wine it does have a slightly higher alcohol and could probably last longer than the typical bottle. I'd suggest within 5 days. That is only based on my own experience and I'll defer to the expert Vayniacs!

  • Watch my face when he says “copper”. I didn't pick up on that at all. But, everyone's palate is slightly different. (And yes, I've had copper and nickel in my mouth before.)

  • CharlieTN

Great QOTD. My answer: Ice Wine. I love 'em love 'em love 'em, but if I had them too often I'd sick sick of them real fast, and I would be broke.

  • passion4wine

Port is a guy time drink? ummm… me think not. I love Port (I am a female), I am partial to Tawny Port though..Warres Optima.
Fav once n awhile.. must admit that would be a Silver Oak Napa Valley, I love the wine-hate the price, but every now and again I must indulge myself.

  • QOTD: Port. I keep about 12 bottles stored and drink with friends or as an after dinner drink. They are nice to enjoy with cigars.
