Those meatballs looked so good. Too bad I didn't buy that package of ground veal I was staring at for 2 minutes in the grocery store. I could have made Patsy's recipe. Have no idea about the QOTD or desire to Google the answer. Might want to visit Ireland one day, but would rather go to Italy first.

  • voxmystica

I loved watching the conversations back and forth…Mott did a fine job! One of my favorite episodes.

  • Jparadisee

Part 2 definitely brought it way more then part 1. Dominick Chianese is a very interesting guy. Love hearing stories from people with some age on them (dont want to call him old) he has definitely seen and experienced a lot. He seems like the kind of guy that would be an amazing dinner guest where you hope to go through 4-5 bottles after dinner chatting for hours and hours getting his life story piece by piece.

    QotD: Mott goggle it up!

Oh and for the giveaway, I hope he agreed to throw in a bottle of the wine or two or five;)

  • Randall

'Put my hat in the name'? Too funny, DAveALL! 🙂
And at the risk of opening foot, inserting mouth…
'No… you don't get boo'ed for simply stating an opinion unless you start pouring out the snobbery against truck drivers again…'

  • Tofferotti

I want to find some of that riserva chianti. This was a great episode. Looks like you all really enjoyed yourselves. I gotta try those meatballs!

  • orangebottle

I hope you had a great time as well as us watching the show. You are getting so good at this. I love to have older gentlemen or ladies eating at the table; you can learn so much from their ways. Great show.
QOTD: Google shows 7 counties. so I'm going with 7, unless this is a trick question.

  • gomestar

Nice episode. I've seen these bottles in stores but have always passed figuring it's nothing more than a marketing campaign. Now I will be happy to pick one up and try.

  • DAveAll

IMHO – you are right, Randall, I was just stating my 2 cents. Though I loved both characters. For truck drivers, it is my dream in retirement to handle a rig from North Carolina to California – 18 wheels and a load to deliver. The unsung heroes of the highway.
(I try to contain snobbery to my in-laws)

  • ChrisNY2

    QOTD: 7 counties border offaly.
    Nice show GV.

  • Cheater? Tullamore dew my friend gives you insights

  • Jay

    Fantastic two-parter, GV! Loved it.

  • scottEJ

Gary, please go back and watch some of the earlier episodes…any one or two…and then ask yourself if you ever in a million years think thought you'd be having lunch with two of the Sopranos while breaking down some wines. You nailed this one. Home friggin' run. To get these guys to open up like they did is unbelievable. Jay F'n Leno should bow to you on this one!! AND…what you probably are going to do for some of their wines? Oh yea…you'll be getting a gift basket this holiday. Great, great show.

QOTD: Sorry, Mr. Chianese, I can't help you. But, I will be picking up some of your wine, though.

  • Lady L'egance

Great episode, looks like everyone had a good time. I really enjoyed listening to everyone's comments about the wines.

GV – you should really go back and watch some of the past WLTV eps. If anything you could ask yourself how your pal has grown since the early years.

QOTD: I'm guessing 9 without google.

  • madonna! the satellite is moving so slow, I don't know if this will download before I crash. I'll go down to cellar, I need to rack the the Cabernet…see what it is like when I come up. Supposed to hit the road for the city in the AM, may have to let this go all night so I can watch it for breakfast. Ciao.

  • hmmm…last post stalled.
it's a while later and this is still crawling, only 20% there.
worth a try, heck I would take a lo-res version at times like this.
    buonanotte.

  • winecrazy

Now that was a good ending to that two part show. The first part really was blah because of Pastore just feeding his face with Calimari salad and not knowing anything about wine……but that was a very interesting second part.

I'll try that last wine, and,……I'll eat at Patsy's and get the cook book because that's how I make my meatballs!!!!! All Veal!!!!! That's-a-nice-ah!!!!!!

    QOTD: Between 1 and 10…….was I right? 🙂

  • winecrazy

Also I wonder if Vinny saw my show and why he didn't comment on ity….or is Vinny Pastore a LURKER……….???????????

    Hummmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting…… Come on Vinny….comment on my show will ya already. I'll give you a Fuhgeddaboudit.com hat and shirt if you do!!!!! Now there's an offer you can't refuse!!!!

  • laposte

Fun episode even though I have never seen an episode of the sopranos, no cable/dish TV

QOTD: Every one that touches it…

  • winecrazy

Hey Vinny..here it is if you can't find it. It's episode 868.

  • Counties? Ummmmmm….

Great episode(s) – Loved the idea of either dispelling, or proving the potential stereotype that surrounded these “branded” wines. Booyakasha

  • Lady L'egance

I think he's a lurker! I loved your show winecrazy.

  • gina

Gary… your show gets better and better all the time!
    I absolutely enjoy watching!
    Great entertainment and great education!
You are the best, keep up the wonderful show!
Yes, you are changing the wine world and it is GREAT!

  • Lady L'egance

^Give this guy the picture GV!

PS – How is wine in Brazil? Do you drink a lot of wine from Chile and Argentina?

  • Randall

Ok, but check your prev. comments…
    Anyway… nutthin' but love 4 ya, DAveALL… 😉

  • Good stuff – very enjoyable.
    QOTD (no googling): 6

  • Gobi

GREAT episode! Being a fan of the Sopranos this was AMAZING!!! Keep it going GV!

  • Jgoodwinj

Great show, Gary. I know it was hard to beat the wines up, but I was really, really entertained.

  • Nogun

I think it was a mistake to include the gun in the Sopranos logo on the bottle. The glorifying of violence is the main component that makes the Sopranos brand corny (though yes, it was the greatest TV series ever written/produced/performed), and this perception will hurt these wines more than simply the fact that it's “gimmicky”. Without the gun, you'd still get name recognition, but without all the cliches that go along with the show. Big mistake to include the gun.

  • Randall

    🙁 Give Me A Break!!

  • howlr5

What an honor for Gary when Uncle Junior said that he was learning a lot from the show. This was a classic WLTV.

  • howlr5

How are you doing these days? You would have fit right in on the Sopranos episode.

  • Great show!!! Anybody in the NewYork City area, maybe Brooklyn or Staten Island, know a store where you can pick up any of these New Soprano Wines. I'm from Florida and will be visiting in late July and would love to try a few of them myself

  • castello

Wax on wax off. Patience my man. Cable rocks! but not a great qpr

  • castello

Leno retired last year. Say la vie(sp)

  • castello

    autographs are useless!

  • Jpatt

awesome 2 part show, i posted this on facebook and am getting a ton of comments.

    Call me Jamie the EX-LURKER

  • ErieWineGuy

    Always a great time.

Thanks Gary and Mott, thanks Guys!

  • YoungDave

QOTD: By my count- 7!! Galway, Westmeath, Meath, Roscommon, Kildare, Laois, and Tipperary! Cheers!

  • Randall

The schedule is the only stressful aspect (not counting the assinine drivers out there). I only do Norcal, not OTR. I’ve also done the RV/van/car/cross-country thing quite a few times and it’s SO much better… but either way, it’s STILL a beautiful country… Wish I could do it again, around, oh I don’t know… 7/10 or so… 😉

  • ToniV

Very entertaining double episode! Coming back to the first QOTD – I think JLo's butt must be quite close to the size of my 24″ iMac. Beautiful thing.

  • ToniV

By the way, what did Mott think of the meat balls?

  • Love the Sopranos, loved this show – pure entertainment coupled with solid info. Great effort to change the potential buyer's perception of these particular “novelty” wines. Respect!

  • RichieHell

    Fantastic guests! Really fun.

  • ssravp

These two episodes are probably two of my favorites in quite awhile.

  • Good show guys – lots of entertianment

    QOTD: ?

  • Anthony

This one was even better than the first…I have had the Chianti at Wolfgangs Steakhouse on Park Ave and noticed the last time they have the Riserva on the wine list…Interesting that when I ordered my friend who is a serious wine drinker dissed me until he tried the wine and agreed that this is a steal of a wine!!! Good call GV Love Dominick class act

  • Mark Gonsalves

After the Show I went and dug out the Sopranos Chianti Classico 2006 the previous vintage definately is a better representation of the winemaker than the 2007. The Good news is that you can still find some 2006 out in CA, AZ,NY,NJ, and IL. The 2007 needs to be cellared for 2-3 years and will mellow with age.

  • Unclemeate

Funny yet informative ………………….. Mott rules!
AotD#1: Krackin' me up!!! And uh Big P#ssy!!!
AotD#2: Hey! Forgit abowd dit ……. but I do luv Chianti !!!
    Gotta try the Reserva.

  • winecrazy

I'm great thanks. Yeah I woulod have done it in a minute. I used to hang out in the 90's with Tony Sirico but I don;t go into the city anymore and hang with that crowd or I would have been able to get on I'm sure.

  • PurpleGrillz

Great great show. I will try the reserva, even though Sangiovese is not my favorite.

    QOTD…..7 counties
