    Hi Gary,
QOTD: Had this great wine with a strange pedigree: a cab sauv, cab franc, merlot from Venet (?!)that tastes like a Beaujolais. Really fruit and fresh : Accordi Le Spinee 2009.
Hope you will support the Dutch now the U.S. is out of the Worldcup !
    Love,
    SEb

Gary, thank you for the Burgundy show! I Love the classic shows as well! Great Job!!

QOTD: lots of plans this weekend. Picnic on Friday night with the Hartford Symphony and fireworks.. maybe Domaine Cauhape Jurancon sec… James Taylor at Tanglewood on monday-I'm thinking champagne– maybe Bolliger.

  • scottEJ

Thanks, G. I am still not on board w/Burgundy and their lack of QPR. I did, however, have a nice Chablis 1er last weekend that I thought was a pretty solid for around 20.

QOTD: I'll be rocking out the refreshing whites and creamy rose' wines w/alot of grilled meat and veggies.

Randall..there would be many more comments if this Disgusted system worked correctly…I think some people give up when they have to refresh their system all the time to post. What a pain in the a$$. http://www.winelx.com

  • Thomas_DK

You are back on track for sure.

    QOTD: nothing, im not american

  • 3 and 4 is still a weekend in Denmark

  • Thomas_DK

  • adam_riley

I will be celebratng in Tel Aviv and drinking an Italian Montefalco Rosso I bought in Rome.

  • Flash

I plan to open and share a 1995 Celestines from Henri Bonneau. Those 2006 burgs are just not ready to drink or even taste yet. My experience has been that they either taste good on immediate release or after 10 years.

  • Allan

2002 Grant Burge Holy Trinity comin' up…………………………. I need me some GSM!! πŸ™‚

Question of the day = Crios Torrontes, it's pool season and this one is packed with tangerine flavor that still handles being served at beer temperature. Gary, we love your brutal honesty about Burgundy wines today. We have all been disappointed, like your first 2, and we have all been wowed by an occasional kick butt complete balanced beauty like the third, and we keep trying

  • MikeFielden

Ive been a lurker for months now… but I have to say the Robert Parish comment ah.MAZING.
Nearly spit my coffee all over my keyboard…

  • Loving the Ol' “Gangsta” style of show. I'm going to start calling you “OG Gary V!” lol

QOTD: I am pumped about a varietal I tried for the first time Sat night. CARMENERE! Carmen with her great color and light body is bringing not just the Thunder but the whole STORM. Not just any storm, I mean Late Summer South Carolina Hurricanes off the coast kind of STORM!

  • amm3rd

QOTD & Comment: It does not matter what the wine it, it's all 'bout the family & friends. That said, I will be down at the Jerzy Shore grilling, and will be drinking Aalto 2003 & 2004 perfect for steaks and burgers. Drink up! AMM

  • My burgundy exposure is still way too limited, but I have to say the Nuits St. George have been the most interesting and classy reds.

QOTD: will be with family and friends up on the NY side of Lake Champlain…definitely be enjoying a white blend from grapes grown just a few miles from where we will be hanging.

  • Anonymous

    i didn’t know you enjoyed infanticide πŸ˜‰

haha. gary, this episode made me giggle a few times. especially when u said something about the first wine being a baby, “wa wa.” hehehehehehe…

qotd: well im a member of the ckc, so if i actually had any cash to spend id like to try a viognier. a fatty barolo would be rockin too!

  • QOTD: It's the Canada Day (July 1) extra long weekend here in Canada. I'm going to a wedding in the Southern Okanagan. Looking forward to a variety of Okanagan whites (riesling, chenin blancs, pinot blancs) and rosΓ©s.

I am stoked by the rationing of guests going forward – average of one a month. Will GV be able to keep his promise?

Happy 4th of July to all Americans & Happy Canada Day to all Canadians!

    Cheers,
    Edwardo

  • JayZee13

I have had rather inconsistent results with Nuits St. Georges as well, but I usually like the wines from this area. These weren't stellar, apparently.

QOTD: I'll be flying to Cairns, Australia on a business trip. I can only hope there will be a drinkable wine onboard. 25 hours on airplanes – can't wait (dripping sarcasm).

  • Allan

    2002 Grant Burge The Holy Trinity Barossa. Grenache – Shiraz – Mourvedre;

Was expecting something much darker, this actually has a Barolo-esque rim, brick-like in colour. NICE!. Very strawberry candyesque on the initial attack, but that soon goes away, and the wine starts to show some muscles. Rubber, gunpowder smoke, sweet licquorice, raspberry cream, light pepper, tar and flowers. NOT AT ALL over the top. If i had this blind i would say top CdP. Very elegant and complex at the same time.
This is holding up nicely and will continue to do so over the next 5-8 years, is my prediction….. but don't trust me πŸ˜‰
If you love the Rhone Valley, you need to dig this! ! !
I can see many a Vayniac enjoying this. 90-91 points.

    Salud!

    Old-school ROCKS!!! G?

    I miss Sasha

  • Benjaminprice3

First time for this producer, but W.S. gave all the 2001 Damilanos 92-93pts…I’ve had a 2001 barolo from vietti and Pio Cesare, and really liked them both. I think the vintage was very good. If it is their entry level 01, it would be a really good deal.

  • Benjaminprice3

Funny…We got the Shramsberg Rose for this weekend too! Got any suggestions for light food with that?

  • πŸ˜‰ thnx bro!

  • MikeFielden

No more lurking for me… That episode brought the lurker from the bushes. πŸ™‚

  • Brunellofello

Hey Gary, I just got back in town and watched the Reisling and the St. Georges shows. They were both awesome. So glad you are focused and back to basics. I can't wait to experience WL in person on the 10th. QOTD: I turn 50 on Saturday so I think I'll share a couple bottles of 01 RunRig with family and friends.

  • A_S

    YES!!!!!!!!!!
    Classic episode! GREAT!
QOTD: Hm… Haven't thought about it yet, something from the U.S I guess. Cigare Volant from Bonny Doon or a nice Ridge perhaps?

  • Allan 2.0

    Hit meeeeeee tooooooooooooo ooo ooooo oo o o o o o!! πŸ™‚

  • Great old school WLTV ep. Loved the pants-ripping and Mortal Kombat lines. I can't wait to see the mashup that's been promised, LOL. I like these tight eps, though a guest show once in a while is great. Wine Nerd of the month perhaps?

QOTD: Undecided. I may have to be a DD this Sunday, but we'll see. My 2nd wedding anniversary's today, so I will have to choose something special with tonight's dinner.

  • Nothing like a show on overpriced Pinot.

QOTD: Lots of great Champagne for Jahlove's B-day get together.

  • Derek B

Funny that you mention wine classes and college students. I just got home about an hour ago from my Beverage Appreciation class at Johnson & Wales University, and I also just told my professor in that class to check out your show!

  • waynooo daaa wino

    YEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dsallen

Classic WLTV! Love the nuance, but gotta put a freeze on the spending right now – reppin' the CKC's here. Oh, and CNN had an article of ten things you can do to be happier in life, and one of them was 'learn about wine'!

  • πŸ™‚

  • laurieinvt

Thanks for the old school show!
Mott's not alone in thinking he jinxed the US soccer team by finally watching one of their matches. πŸ™ If they'd played the first half the way they played the second half (and if Gomez had been put in sooner), we might not be blaming a jinx… but I'm not entirely disappointed. If we can build from where we are now, 4 years from now, who knows?
QOTD: Since our budget seems to have devolved to CKC days, we're probably going to pick up more il Prosecco. Crappy name, but a very pleasant $12 bottle that can go from porch sipping through cookout fare nicely, I think.

  • Alexandre-CF

YEAHHH dude , keep rocking, great show
Ste Georges really brings the thunder to me.

QOTD: BUBBLES, a nice bottle of DOM P.

  • lawrenceleichtman

This was like the old episodes of WL. Great stuff. Keep it up. You are better than most of your guests at telling us about wines without seeming like you are trying to sell them.

  • lawrenceleichtman

Somehow lost my comment. This is like WL of old. Keep it up GV. Commenting not selling.

  • NY Pete

    ok it's tuesday …
    where's the thunder?
no show on my bday … WTF

  • waynooo daaa wino

    I WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANTS MEEEEEEEE TUESDAY THUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNDDERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • waynooo daaa wino

HAAAAPPYYY BIRTHDAY, NY Pete !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;o)

  • “Whoopsie” yes, that was Mortal Kombat

Old Skool here, tv.winelibrary.com only baby!

QTOD: Excited to share a 2009 ChΓ’teau Graville-Lacoste Blanc (inspired by the Kermit Lynch episode)

  • “It's probably not going to take my pants off and excite me.” -GV

That's was quite amazing! Thanks for the subtle oops facial expression but leaving it alone. I love the composure.

The show was great. Glad to see you continued commitment to hanging out with all us peeps on here.

QOTD: I'd like to find a value sparkling wine, non french. Spumante or something.
