Great episode. GV really is a natural in front of a live audience

Good show, you interact with a crowd very well. Too bad I could not be there, but didn't have the bones to fork out a ticket to NY. I have to be honest, I hope there is another show you filmed because if this is it it feels a little anti-climactic. I guess I am just jealous of those in attendance.

    QOTD: Australia's Gold Coast.

  • what an awesome time you all must have had. can't wait to head up there in a couple weeks.

QOTD: WineLib to sit in the quest chair on WLTV.

  • oh there is another one ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Fair point! VERY!

  • Clark so fun meeting u ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Will be fxing soon!

  • JiminAtlanta

I really wanted to be there on Saturday, but I will have to do it next time. QOTD – I am planning a trip to Poland and Hungary in September. It might not exactly be wine country (at least not Poland), but it should be interesting. Next time it will be NJ with Gary V.

  • aussiestockman

    Great show Gazza!
QOTD – I would be in San Diego! Or Spain for the wine!

  • bobbytiger

    Thank you.
I shall look forward to reviewing her site.

  • JIM u better be there in SEPT!

  • TheGreatWazu

That guy “Troutie” was a really really nice guy. He introduced himself to me. He knew of me from VM. He was a true professional and helped me on several occasions including directing me to the wine and cheese I am loving right now. What a great recommendation (Falanghina). One sip of this wine made me change what we had for dinner on Sunday to spaghetti and meatballs instead of London Broil. I owe that guy some lunch. Thank you for inviting us into the heart of your business and even your office. Thanks for the wine and cheese too. You're very generous and a gracious host too. Your dad rocks. We almost made it to the city but truth be told…we'd miss our kids too much at this point. Definately next year. QOTD: The Grand Canyon…all those stars.

  • DaveALL

phew. Glad I didn't buy that Syrah!

    Looked like a fun time.

good show. thanks. QOTD: Across Canada on Canadian Railroad trip – and it's planned for end of August!
nice ending – with the little peeps on display.

  • Emins

    QOTD: Somewhere in New Zealand.

  • Westcoastluv

    Gary,
Excuse any typing errors, I just finished a bottle of Las Rocas de San Alejandre Garnacha 2007. I'm new to wine library tv and I'm watching all the Past Episodes and you seem to always talk down about California wines. I'm just wondering why you always say that California wines smell oaky and fake? It seems like you always have something bad to say about California…why?

  • Phil G

Great time this past weekend – thanks to the Wine Library for hosting. Really liked the Barolo and that Chris Rock bit is also my favorite. Great job by Mott on this show too – the audience close out was an amazing call.

QOTD – I could get crazy with this question, but realistically, how about some good hiking in the Adirondacks…

  • Great crowd, I wish I could have attended, looks like you had a lot of fun.

QOTD: I would love to go to a cabin in the woods by a stream or a brook, maybe a house with a water wheel, to relax and think and write and play.

  • ONUMello

So glad I was able to be there!!
QOTD: Heading out there was probably my 'big' trip this summer, unfortunately- new job = no time off yet. But hopefully I'll be going on a wine trip with some of the Cindrella Wine folks to the Niagara on the Lake dessert wine region later this summer/early fall as well!

  • Great show Gary, Awesome croud.

Maybe one day I will make it up there.

QOTD: Have already hit two places this summer, Disneyworld and Asheville, NC. JUst plan to do some more fun stuff with family this summer. My 3 year old (almost 4) is at that age that we can just go do anything and he likes it.

    Jason

  • Phil so awesome having u there

  • corkscrew

Gary, I hate complaining with all you do for us winelovers…but if it's going to get fixed it will come from pressure from you. Had a great time sharing some wine with you in NYC.

  • Stanvh

Gary, Great July 10 open house party. Wish I could have stayed around for the taping but it was great meeting you again. I have a new respect for your Gourmet department after meeting and being able to talk with some of the vendors. Definitely, this should become a regular (annual?, semiannual? monthly???) affair at WL.

QOD: I wish I could go back to France – especially now that the Euro/Dollar ratio has improved somewhat. But we are going to Newfoundland for some great seafood and wonderful people. We will be doing the St. John's waltz once again.

    See you in the Fall.

    StanVH

  • Genius! But rather than have the show before the Pat's bury the Jets next to Hoffa, have it the day after. That way I'll be able to hear more of those famous Jet's excuses.

QOTD: If I could be anywhere it would be Italy for two weeks of just wine and food.

  • excellent fun, the brunello sounds bellisimo, glad you folks had a great time.
Maybe I can make it down for an autumn event.
QOTD: I'd like to go sane…two weeks at home, with no need to call the office, or check email.

  • ErieWineGuy

That really looked like fun and with a bunch of nice people!

    Perhaps next time.

QOTD: I just got back from a 2 month vacation, but if I could go anywhere, it would be to visit Wine Library, and then on to Montalcino for all the Brunello's I could possibly taste.

    Say……..now that's a pretty good thought……maybe I will!

  • my family is up where the mountains meet the lake on the eastern edge of the park…my brothers are both peak baggers, but I kind of enjoy the lesser hills. Have probably climbed Pokomoonshine close to a hundred times. Turtle Island Cafe in Willsboro is gorgeous food and a surprising wine list.

  • ErieWineGuy

    Ditto on Asheville, NC

Had about 5 of the greatest weeks of my life there.

  • John Farnsworth

    Hey Gary,

Great event! I was in the store, sorry I missed the taping, selling Tiger Teeth Pepper down below. hope you and all yours are very well!

  • unfortunately it's because a fair representation of CA wines are oaky and fake, especially inthe price zone of mere mortals, and surprisingly frequent on the high end…and I end up buying around that factor myself. To be fair, I've had a couple of naked chardonnays recently that were pretty racy and perked me up. Also had the 2006 Riesling to Live from Bonny Doon…no RS, ultra Brut, reserved stone fruit, very surprising, in a good way.

  • PS. we like the Las Rocas here too…could have brought that up in the grenache episode a few back..pretty reliable. I kind of wonder what it's big sister the Vinas Viejas is like…

  • Michelle

QOTD: (for the nice lady) Our weekend cabin in the Hood Canal area of WA state.

  • paz levinson

Great show, Great party, I wished I could be there and say Argentina when you asked: where are you coming from?. but not this time, here working and studying but I keep watching you. maybe I will start making tasting videos in spanish so maybe is the way to know each other someday!
I shouldnยดt say so many times “maybe” but you know, maybe maybe maybe

QOTD: here is winter and I am not going anywhere!

  • laposte

QOTD; Dordogne France, what's not to like; truffles, foie gras and the inky black cahors!

  • aussiestockman

I just changed my mind for QOTD: Dordogne – Don't forget the Cheese, the Sauternes and Monbazillac

  • scottEJ

Nice show everybody. Very upbeat. G, maybe next time crack out some o' that cheese w/the wine; pairings are always fun and interesting.

QOTD: I wouldn't mind going to a season ending crush in the central coast region.

  • Gary, thanks so much to you and the WL team for an awesome day! I guess I'm spoiled in some respects – a lot of people here (with some serious commenter seniority, to boot) would need to shell out quite a bit of money and spend 3-5 hours on a plane just to get to NJ, when all I have to do is sit for an hour (or two) in the Holland Tunnel… Anyway, I had a great time interacting with the portion of the VaynerNation that DID make it. Also, this was a great place/occasion to taste my first Barolo ๐Ÿ™‚

QOTD – Besides Israel…? I'd say California, as I've not been there in some time, and have never been there for any wine-related reason. Or Seattle, but only on the condition that it'd be sunny for at least one full day while I'm there.

  • pujonny

QOTD: lurker coming out for the lovely lady! I'd go to nyc because that's where my fiance is and I'm stuck in new mexico. great show!

  • J Crazy

    Great show.

QOTD: I'd run away to a cave and be all primal for a while.

  • JohnsGSD

Great stuff Gary, wish I was there! Glad to see a Barolo tasted. I've been getting more into the Italian wines lately although I'm drinking a 2007 Vinsobres tonight (Perrin & Fils, Les Cornuds).

QOTD: I'm heading up to Cooperstown, NY to visit family. We've got a place on a small lake up there that's been in the family since 1955. Looking forward to catching up with some childhood friends who will be there too. But if I wasn't going there, I'd be heading to somewhere in the South Pacific.

  • Steph

    Hey Gary, Great show!
QOTD: to Biarritz ( my hometown) and then to Fronsac. see my relatives, enjoy some good food and wine( especially Chateau Villars: some serious juice with true terroir!).
The owner is one of my friend, and 2009 was its best year, 92 RP. I cant wait to taste it this summer, since i cant find it anywhere in the US.

  • Best. Episode. EVER! I was smiling all the way through it. It looks like you all were having an incredibly fantastic time. If that's not changing the wine world, I don't know what is. Awesome!

QOTD: I would be headed to Oshkosh, Wisconsin for AirVenture 2010. It's Mecca for aviators, and all of my friends will be there. AirVenture is the biggest airshow in the country with over 800,000 people and 12,000 airplanes arriving throughout the week. Good times.

    Thanks for the incredible show!

  • gabriele

Great episode Gary, I would have really loved to be here with all of you…
Unfortunately from Italy it's too far away.. ๐Ÿ™
Maybe next time I'll try to organize a trip… at least I would be the one coming from the further distance…

Perfectly agree with the Barolo, I had it a couple of weeks ago….

thanks Gary you are very inspiring…

  • Jekaczmarek

I'm sorry that I didn't come upstairs to watch the taping but I was afraid that I wouldn't get to the front of the line to taste the wine nad I'd been waiting so long………I didn't know that I'd have a chance to try any upstairs. I met nice people on line .on the line. FUN episode. For this summer I'd like to stay semi close to home and visit the Finger Lakes again. Decent wineries and good hiking if my knees don't give out.

  • NJStickist

Gary…had a great time at the party and watched the first and most of the 2nd taping (after a personal invite from your dad to do so in the case of the 2nd taping). Everyone affiliated with Wine Library and Gourmet Library were friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. The other Vanicas there were great and it was a distinct pleasure meeting you. We had hoped to make it to NYC, but a minor emergency on Friday necessitated a return home to Allendale, NJ later in the afternoon. Hopefully you'll do something in the fall and if so, maybe we'll have a second chance.

QOTD: I would be headed to Napa Valley, of course. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Jekaczmarek

Ok, so I don't know how to edit once I've clicked, yes, I'm a lurker, and it's early in the morning! After wine it should say “and” not nad.
QOTD: I was at Brigantine and Cape May for the 4th weekend and was at Long Branch a couple of times already including yesterday. Living in NJ makes it easy to enjoy the beaches.
Thanks Gary for all your great shows! I browse Wine Library weekly in the store…….and you're right about hte name, I think of it as brwsing the library but my head is upright.

  • Julius

    I think you mean blo

  • QOTD: Colorado Springs

  • phredd3

Bummed I couldn't make it up there for the big event. Sounds like it was a blast. Maybe I can make it up there next time. Good show with the enthusiastic crowd.

QOTD: Was in Northern Minnesota a couple weeks ago. Does that count? If not, I'd rather be with my kid in Amsterdam.

  • nitaT

It was a fun event. Bought some wine! nice selection, beautiful store.

QOTD: well– I always want to go to california… but this year I am going to the Champagne region of France – can't get much better than that.

  • ssravp

Awesome show. Loved it. Wish I could have been there.

QOTD: I would love to go to Scotland this year.

  • adam_riley

Awesome epidsode, wish I could have been there! Is there a part 2, 3, or 4? I heard Gary a couple of weeks ago say that the July 10th party was going to be a multi-part episode.

QOTD: I'm going on a sick Euro trip in August: Istanbul, Budapest, Vienna, Berlin, Brussels, Dublin, Barcelona. Then to Spain to work on a harvest at a small winery in Menorca. Boo ya baby!
