How about a show about Austrian whites with some age already on them, e.g. quality rieslings and gruners that are 2006 vintage or older? Actually Austrian reds would be interesting also, especially Blaufränkisch

  • alexlinsley

    Yes! Doowit GV

  • Jvigil8

Weak Gary. Crush it? Too busy to do your show? Couldn't squeeze in 10-15 minutes to open up a bottle and review? Not feeling it from the most passionate wine blog in the world.!

  • It's OK, Gary.. We'll still be here when you get back!

RE: Tasting suggestions for next week-
I'll echo what others have already mentioned:
1 St Rita Hills Pinot Noir vs Anderson Valley, New Zealand or Oregon Pinot Noir?
2 Zinfandels (fruit bomb vs non-fruit bomb)
    3 Prioriat
    4. 07 Cali Cabs

  • Jvigil8

not feeling kmurph as a guest host, but it might be a good laugh.

  • NorthernWiner

How about Portuguese reds? I can't recall if you've any before. Ok, you probably have. I just don't recall it.

I'd also like to see you review wines from other areas of the US. For example, Arizona and Texas are making some interesting wines.

  • Understand the week can sometimes get away from you early.. how about revisiting some GV Appreciation love ala Episode 86?

  • Beeper

Wha….? Fine. Probably need to quit wasting my time learning about wine anyways…

How about expanding my palette into some value south American wines?

  • shoot on a tuesday instead? or at night, crushing 16 hours a day? 😀
    How's the new book coming?
About wines to taste next week.
    Monday: Strange dessert wine
    Tuesday: Big reds from Chile
    Wednesday: Low scores from WS
Thursday: Crisp whites from North America
Friday: Couch episode with some really nerdy grapes

  • A_S

Maybe a barbaresco tasting next week?
Produttori, Roagna, Bruno Giacosa or whatever.
    Looking forward to next week!

  • BillyClyde

Have you ever done a show about North Carolina wines? To my palate, some of them are quite nice

  • Giacosa is a good one!

  • You are one nasty person.

  • I third it!!!!

  • Nik_B

I would love to see a show on Collioure – pretty much unknown place in France. Just a shame there isn't any on the Wine Library site.

  • So how about this:
    Monday Double Blind Temperanillo
    Tuesday Dry Riesling from Mosel
    Wednesday Double blind Sauv B
    Thursday Giacosa Spumante Extra Brut
Friday Couch ep with nerdy Roero Arneis wines.

  • Nik_B

Also, forgot to say – a show on rosé bubbles (maybe cava and champagne) would be great too

  • richardvinifera

How about some ridiculously expensive wines to get some 97+ wines on WLTV, to make up for a week without wine?!?! Tokaji, old red Burgundies, vintage champagne, top cru classe Bordeaux, treat yourself!

  • zeppo55

Lets taste some Long Island wine Mr V…Some nice ones out there…Shinn,Sherwood House,Lenz,
    Paumanok,Grapes of Roth…

  • richardvinifera

@Jvigil8, may I suggest you ask for a refund on your WLTV subscription, then leave the forum for the real fans to enjoy. Click your heels together three times and go back to Trolltown.

  • AllanJonassen

Also, how about a show on Lustau Sherries?

    Sherry is soooo underrated!

  • AllanJonassen

Agreed with most others; COUCH needs to land on friday next week!!! Nerd it up!

  • AllanJonassen

Barbaresco mmmmmmmmm.. slurp! I love it! 🙂

  • AllanJonassen

“Strange” dessert wine? What is that?? ? If you don't mind me asking…. :0)

  • AllanJonassen

    Put out the fire G!

  • Oakmon's BF

    K-Murph! K-Murph! K-Murph!

  • I think we all understand Gary. Its cool. Make sure there is familiy time in there too 🙂 Which I am sure you do.

QOTD: How about Cali Rhone blends? Or as someone said below Zins(fruit bomb vs/ non fruit bomb)

    Jason

  • davidemillombard

Its all good; git er' done. Maybe for next week, a Summer Chard' Day w/ high rated, affordable to moderate, and butter-bandit to supercrisp picks…?

  • Saritasalcedo

I know your a wine guy but if you have a chance to find it try a very strong drink made from distilled sugar cane, It's called Aguardiente, is from Colombia (where I am from). that is what I am definetly drinking this weekend. It is strong but exciting and we say back home it raises the dead. Let me know if you find !

Chateau Canon la Gaffeliere; awesome wine, great price and unique terroir, it's always good.

  • For those of us on tight budgets, how about an “Under 10 Bones” show. I've been working with a small wine shop in my neighborhood and have found some excellent wines for 9-10 bucks. One Italian white called Falasco that is 8.99. I've bought it 3 times. The shop is called Fermented Grapes in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, NY. Also, I just finished a Liotro Nero D'Avola, fruit bomb goodness!

  • Mmcole

I'll miss yah this week. I have would like to see some Portugeese wines tasted this week, particularly from Duoro

  • Thanks for letting us know about this week. It will be tough but we will persevere.

QOTD: Here are a few I would like your take on though don't know if you carry them: Haywood Los Chamizal Zin, Emmolo Sauv Blanc, Bridlewood Viognier, Cherrier Sancerre Blanc Les Chailloux Cuvee 2008 or of course, any recent bottling of Dominus works for me.

    Stay cool

    Dom

  • Allan

Ok, just curious. It could be cool. Let’s nerd it up. I’m rooting for the COUCH next friday, just like you…. 🙂

    Cheers!

    (Zinfandel port sounds mega cool)

  • zrm

How about a double blind or maybe a head to head Viognier.

  • lovanc

I was surprised that you did not do an South African wine show during the world cup. How about looking at some of the better producers of wine from South Africa, Meerlust, Thelema, Rust & Vrede that one can find in the USA?

  • DaNeener

My new wife and I will be renting a cabin for a few days next month in southwestern MI. There are a number of wineries in the region. So…we were wondering if you're familiar with the MI wine region? If so, which wineries would you want to stop and visit (would help us get started on our tour itinerary)? If not maybe you could taste a few MI wines for us and the rest of your viewers.

  • Benfranco

No problem business first… Next week let look at Carmenere!

  • DrewM

Actually, family first…but business second is ok. This comes at a good time…I need to catch up on the WLTV backlog.

  • Find some Moldavian Wine from Chateau Vartely, or Purcari, or Cricova, and show us what value they have.

  • KAHUNA

I like it better when you do not explain why there are no episodes that leads to lots of is Gary done, is Gary going to TV, is Gary going to put on a leather biker outfit and join the re-union tour of the Village People?

Oh well speculation be damned – guess I better up the bandwith on my site as I am sure with everyones free time they will be tuning into The Galaxies Most Popular Food and Wine show – My Mother gets pissed when viewship jumps to 13 people and the site bogs down

  • Totally understand if you are buried…got to keep the cash cow fed, since it supports the show. However…we'll see how long you can hold out. |
Should we run a pool guessing whether and when the flip cam will make a quick appearance this week?

    more Alsace please…

  • Dawn9850

For next week……How about wines from the Paso Robles area in CA…..Four Vines Winery is very interesting and so is Denner.

  • bg3034

How great is it that GV's desk is covered with wine bottles? Mine only has reams of paper 🙁

  • Can’t she be the stand in when Gary is not on screen?

  • I wonder if the man could not squeez in a couch episode this week, Tape it like midnight thursday and let Mott post on friday morning. G says he just sleep 3-4 hors a night so what’s the problem 🙂

  • Magichanzz

I'd like you to review some futures that are good to buy and put away. Like some sauternes maybe?

  • Paulbradymusic

    Primitivo and Zin!

  • Xune Sinafey

I really love this show and Gary just amazes me. I am completely hooked after randomly finding the episode her did with Maynard James Keenan on youtube. I plan on trying to watch all of the episode when I have a spare minute or two.

I must confess though I really am not a fan of wine. Maybe I just have not tasted the right one. Though to me, alot of wine just tastes like vinegar. Still love the show though!
