  • A dumb Rhein king

Great ep. Love to hear those small time start up turned huge growth stories.

  • Rodolfo Sommelier

goog first episod, I love beer a lot too, If you can explend about the difference beteween wines and beers fermentations, good look for all.

  • Mott

This show was supposed to air on Monday with part 2 airing today. There simply was not enough time to prepare the show and air it in a timely manner. So that’s why things seem Helter Skelter.

Cool guest, we never did hear how he got the name.

  • Anonymous

    Try Prozac. 😉

  • Great first half. The restaurant at Victory is almost always packed, they have a great local following. If you get the chance Gary, let that golden monkey warm up and you will find a lot of crazy spiciness.

I don’t mean to complain–I still love all of your shows. I’m grateful to Gary and you for pumping them out. I do feel that the show is pretty inconsistent though, and that may turn off new viewers who expect to see what they’re told they’ll see (if that makes any sense). But I understand that with everything going on, it’s very difficult to make good on all of the promises and ideas that are put forth.

  • Noleesk

amazing show. Drinking a “fin du monde” beer right now! (Quebec beer).

Bill is a great guest- looking forward to part 2!

  • Baltic Porter is awesome. There are definitely some of the victory greats (in my opinion) missing from the table, but I like the theme of pairing more “traditional” versions to the victory takes on the style

  • Just Jack

    OK bro you win
For you I lay off the guest
    cause I do like beer

Beer?!? Who gives a sh*t about beer? Where’s the show about cider, apfelwine, pommeau, and calvados? Nothing against the guest, but we’ve already had shows about fermented grains with hops, not to mention shows about fermented rice. Let’s get get a show about apples.

I like beer, and beer shows. Although I would like to see more scotch shows, G would do well with scotch aromatics. It can be hard to get past the alcohol though, or at least a lot harder than beer and wine. Victory is not bad, but if you want to live up to your nerd status there are so many more avenues to explore.

  • pezman

Not much of a beer drinker except for an occasional Guinness or Leffe but you (as usual) made the subject very interesting. Looking forward to Part 2. Vegas has the over and under at 22 minutes for Part 2. 🙂

  • waynooo daaa wino

Yeeaah, They are a taaaad outta control…… :o)

  • Must have been that cat burglar that tried to sneak into your wine cellar the other day that riled them up.

*whistle, whistle, whistle, looks innocent, whistle*

  • Cool, Beer!

One thing: the has to be a MOTT CAM!

Love the beer episodes. Great stuff. Question for Bill, What beer do you drink other than your own?

  • Anonymous

Would love to learn about apples, but this is one of the modern beer gods living and brewing today. Think of him as a Kermit Lynch or a Heidi Barrett.

LOVE the beer episodes. Was tweeting with @belchingmonkey aka @schneidermike about the golden monkey last week and how it is my current go to beer, makes @belchingmonkey hallucinate. This beer is epic. What people like Bill and Garrett Oliver are doing for the beer world is huge! These are the movers and shakers of our time in the modern beer culture. A demi-god.Cheers gary.

  • I saw the 4Sq check-in at WL on FB from Victory, so I was totally looking forward to this ep! I actually have 1 Hop Wallop left…probably will be gone soon. 🙂

Garrett, Bill, Sam, et al really continue to bring thunder to the U.S. craft beer movement. We totally love our culture, and totally support each other. Just peek at all the collaborative brews out there now. For example: f you haven’t tried Saison du Buff, definitely track it down.

    Bring on Part II!

  • Hey thanks for the shout out Slim. This was an awesome show. I love Bill and I’m working on getting him to do an interbrew with BelchingMonkey.

  • Have to agree major pazzzz. If it isn’t going to be “wine” tv at least do something new.

  • He definitely drinks Dogfish Head and Stone Brewing. They did a collaboration called Saison du Buff. They came up with a recipe full of excellent herbs and then all made their own version.

  • A show about apples would be absolutely awesome. Do you know how many kinds of apples there are? And how many you can find in wine and beer? That’s a great idea.

  • Mott you’re doing an amazing job.

  • I just wanted to keep this thread going

  • The Monkey part on the 2nd glass is CLASSIC!!! I’ve never had a beer affect me like Golden Monkey does. It has hallucinogenic properties. It’s a really fun beer.

  • waynooo daaa wino

“hallucinogenic properties”???? Gotta get me somma dat Brew!!!!! :o)

  • Do as Bill says and drink two. I recommend opening them up, pouring them into a pint glass, smelling them and enjoying them slowly. In the middle of the second glass, stand up. You’ll see what I mean.

  • waynooo daaa wino

    I’mmm Iiiinnnn !!!! :o)

Agree completely about a cider show! I’m drinking a beer right now (Magic Hat Odd Notion) that, while not a cider, definitely tastes like apples!

  • Anonymous

GV I agree, this guest looks no older han you! I’ll second the comments made by Phredd & Schneidermike that we need an apple/cider show

  • DaveAll

    good show!

  • castello

We need an online taste test for this brew!

  • castello

The randomness is what keeps me coming back day after day after day after day after day

the fedex guy stole my wine!

  • Anonymous

but have you had 2 golden monkeys in a row?

  • Randall

    Boo.

  • Randall

    Still ‘disgusting’… Over.

  • Randall

Are you SURE it wasn’t MelbaLI after she left waynooo’s house… laden with “presents” for herself?

    😛

  • Randall

While I may not be the over-emoting James Tiberius K., I resemble that remark…

  • Randall

I think if you actually took the time to read the comments for the last year or two, you’d see that a HUGE amount of Vayniacs DO care about that most blessed of all brewed beverages… BEER!!
