Not a big fan of the short format. I imagine this is what other wine video blogs might be like. Cut down to purely an info show, GV’s personality has no chance to shine, and lets face it, that’s why we watch.

I must admit that this wine, the Clos Cloutale, is my favorite malbec right now. We serve it by the glass where I work, and people dig it. Good stuff GV. Thank you!

Favourite Malbec? – La Comandery de Chateau la Caminade, Cahors 2005 – cream, dark chocolate and cherries – like big slice of black forest cake. Divine.

QOTD: I did a Malbec brown bag tasting at a friend’s house last month, and I was SURE to bring a Cahors. Although it was not the favorite, it did well. HOWEVER the favorite of the group (including my personal favorite) was a Malbec from Patagonia, Argentina that had LOADS of mineral, as well as solid acid and tannin structure. I forget the name of it, but I will find out and track it down soon! It was a solid value at $17 as well.

Do you know the area of Cahors?

It is interesting to see the landscapes to understand the style of the wine of Cahors. Those which like the wine of Cahors adore also its area, marked by nature and the gastronomy.

If you don’t know the Cahors area, you have a clip on You Tube : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdDT5_OwQXU&feature=related

QOTD: 2006 Viña Cobos, “Bramare” from Mendoza, Argentina. Wild stuff, and way way over the top, but great when you’re in the mood for going over the top! Had the Catena Alta Malbec too which was also very good.

I like this format. It definitely has its place in WLTV. For me you could even make it more educational (boring some might say), as long as it’s not every episode. I like the crazy stuff too!

  • “. . . squirrel meat”? Yum, yum. I used to hunt squirrel many moons ago for subsistence and this wine sounds like its right up my alley. I will need to find some for sure esp at 12 bones.I like this format now and then, especially giving the history and background of the appellation. Nice show today, for me, this morning.QOTD: You reviewed this and it’s great.http://winelibrary.com/wines/49574-2007+Monteviejo+Lindaflor+Malbec+750MLCheersGO COLTS!

I like the old world earthy taste of Cahor, but not sure about squirrel. I tasted one last week at a wine tasting and it was pretty good (can’t remember which one). I prefer this style to Argentina.

I very much like the new format G. This is the first WLTV epi I’ve watched in a while, because of the length of the episodes mainly, I just don’t have the time (that’s a good thing if you’re wondering ;o)

I would say mix it up a bit as far as the length, switching it up is always good.

Will try the Cahors. I have not been drinking much Malbec over the last year or so.
