Good show, I liked the guest. She didn’t try to pretend that she knew more than she actually did.

We brought the Bandit because it’s a “juice box” for Moms! But forgot to mention it. : (

    Thanks Dan. And great answer.

  • Anonymous

Definitely good that they weren’t all crap. Not that I would have known the difference!

  • Anonymous

Sorry. Didn’t mean to cause bleeding.

  • Anonymous

    i hope that’s a good thing.

  • Anonymous

now there’s an idea. Might have to work on that one.

  • Anonymous

thanks for the feedback. Much better than the “this chick doesn’t know diddly about wine” that I was expecting.

  • Anonymous

    Chocolate covered pretzels.

  • Anonymous

    I know. I know.

    Thanks. But Go Pats!

    Agreed.

salty. sweet and salty together can be pretty nice, too, and of course I like sweet things, but at any given moment there’s a much greater chance that I would want a salty snack as opposed to a sweet one.

The Mommy’s Time Out is an interesting product to me as it is always listed as a Pinot Grigio (and even referred to as one on the show here) despite the fact that it is mostly Garganega. On the label Garganega is listed first, as I believe it must be by law, but it is printed in light colored letters while “Pinot Grigio” is printed in much darker, more noticeable letters. Even on the wine’s website, it is listed with Garganega printed first, but underneath where it says “grape variety” (not “varieties”) it shows pinot grigio first. It’s an interesting marketing tactic to get people who might not try something new to think it’s something familiar. I like to encourage consumers to go try a Soave (predominantly Garganega) or something else new instead of drinking that same old Pinot Grigio all the time. They won’t realize how boring the pinot grigio is until you branch out a bit. With maybe a couple of exceptions, I tend to prefer some Friulano or Vermentino or Verdicchio or Vernaccia or Gavi. There’s a ton of variety of light, easy drinking Italian whites out there.

QOTD: Yes. It’s the chocolate covered pretzels or sweet and sour chinese sauce, sweet and salty Chex Mix…….

However if forced to make a decision, it’s salty

Kris pinot grigio is $12-$15 in DE and PA. I haven’t tried it. It sells well in PA even at $15.

  • I’m used to it. You should see me try change the clock on the microwave after a power outage. Like an episode of CSI….

    ;P

    QOTD: Salty!

  • Anonymous

Yes it is! And you are sooooo good looking!

  • Alexandre-CF

QOTD: Right now i might say Salty!

  • passion4wine

    def salty

Good show! These wines are perfect examples of why I won’t buy any wine with a gimmicky name or label. They rarely turn out to be good. However, if anyone has an example to the contrary I’d love to hear it.

QOTD: Both. I’m easy to please.

  • Nice episode. I’m glad you gave Marilè a chance to give her impressions before you. I imagine it can be a little intimidating, particularly if you’re not deep into wine, to sit and compare notes with you.

Marilè – Good luck with the site and FB content.

    QOTD: I’ll go with sweet.

Laughing out loud, funny episode! The sippy cups had me on the floor! Love the lemonade story too. Will definitely recommend this website to a few of my mom friends.

QOTD: Definitely salty. If I’m craving something unhealthy, it’s usually chips, not cake. And don’t really like them together. Like chocolate covered pretzels just aren’t my thing.

  • DaveAll

She was a fun guest. nice!
    QotD: salty.

  • Anonymous

“That was really hard!” The sippy cups were a nice touch! Great to have a guest who isn’t such a nerd.. so many peeps out there enjoying wine from a simpler frame of mind. Also, it’s interesting that all these wine enthusiasts prefer salty… i’d say i prefer the same.

  • Hi Gary,

Nice show – Cheers AUSSIE SAMMY S

    qotd…Sweet

  • Anonymous

    What about salty-sweet-sour-bitter?

  • Great show! Fun to see some of these themed wines being seriously (but not too seriously) tasted to see how they fare. I always wonder and rarely buy. QOTD: Unless it’s chocolate, salty. 🙂

  • i have had the mad housewife. i bought it purely cuz the label was funny hehe.
    qotd: sweet for sure

  • WOW another guest that brings thunder! http://www.happydiabetic.com

  • Sweet

  • A dumb Rhein king

Mad Housewife doesn’t look mad at all. In fact, judging by the look on her face, I’m pretty sure she wants me.

QOTD: I enjoy either on occasion.

  • Let’s face the fact. Who here doesn’t 😛

  • Gary is gonna bring some green thunder this week. I can feel it!

  • NY Pete

    ya think … 🙂

  • mmmmmmmmmmm could be…. ;P

  • Don Simpson

    QOTD: Salty

  • Anonymous

QOTD: Both…especially if it’s that time of the month! Sorry guys!!

Even if the woman behind the facebook page isn’t an expert on the subject, I appreciate her efforts in getting mother’s everyway interested in wine. Cheers to all the mommy’s!!

  • Allan

How about doing a show on CdP or the Rhonè Valley? Could bring the sunshine and the thunder back to this show! 😛

    Cheers! YEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!

  • Anonymous

Those wine?s didn?t bring the thunder, the guest was really nice. Great QOTD!

QOTD: Although I love the sweet stuff, Salty like a big Chorizo grilled in coal fire is the way to go!

Gary I think I have an idea for a show: You could try the same wine in different bottle sizes to see if your palate can spot any differences! Would be fun. That?s a wine MythBuster!

  • Thanks for being on the show.

    QOTD: Both!!!…at the same time….

  • Anonymous

Good to see a gimmick wine that isn’t poison.

GOTD: My poor heart…either both together or neither when I feel guilty

  • Keep it nerdy, my friend! 🙂

  • Nice show. You continue to break down the artificial barriers to entering and enjoying the wine world. Thanks for being yourself. You weren’t patronizing or artificial, which in this show, would have been easy. But then, you’re not a wine snob.

QOTD: Both. My favorite is peanut butter vanilla ice cream (Rutters, when we can get it) with pretzels.

  • Anonymous

    Sweet. That is all.

  • QOTD: Salty!

  • Anonymous

Interesting concept. I admire Marile and what she is trying to do. As a wine program, this wasn’t very useful other than to illustrate that most gimmicky wines are lousy – but that shouldn’t surprise anyone.

    QOTD: Sweet

  • Anonymous

Was without internet this entire weekend so I’m just getting to the video now.

QOTD: I will go salty before sweet any day of the week. Although the best chocolate I ever had, had sea salt on it so there’s something to be said for the combo.

  • Allan

    “It’s a marvelous night for a moondance….”

  • Allan

    Top 100. YIIIIIIIPIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEE 🙁
