Great episode. This is what you do… you leave… disappear… break my heart… phone it in for a little while, then… THEN… you come back and make me fall in love with you all over again.

QOTD1: Patriots 27- Dolphins 24
QOTD2: Some Firestone Double Barrel Ale from Paso Robles, CA. It is so hot down here in central
California that I need to drink a refreshing beer. I always tell everyone that drinking Firestone DBA is like drinking a Sprite, you have that Aaahhhh… moment after every sip.
Good luck to the Jets, but I am hoping for a Buffalo win.

I don’t follow football.
Right now I’m drinking a decent sub $20 Chardonnay (rare for me) from Limoux. Later in the weekend? probably some cindy stuff among what I hope to be several bottles so I can further clear out the basement. maybe the Toro you did on the show a little while back.
The bags rule!!! You are back big time,GV, and I am loving it. This is the GV and WLTV we all love. Just pissed we didn’t get to see you take your pants off tonight.

I predict the Giants will lose again. 21-20 I agree with your Jets prediction, it will be a fairly high-scoring game for the Jets, at least in the 30’s, the Bills between 17 and 24 points.
Since you enjoyed the Unti Grenache so much, I believe I have an older bottle of that in the cellar I will have with the Roast Chicken I will be making. Also have some whites around that I should get into, especially a Bedrock blend.

QOTD1: Patriots 31, Fins 27. This pains me as a Fins fan, but I have to be honest with myself.
QOTD 2: Project 3000, American Grenache.
Love the brown bags! They keep you honest. Way to stick to your guns on the CDP. Maybe just a bad bottle? Nice call on the Australian wine!!!

I predicted this last week (see my post from episode 920 in the midst of all the bashing). Lots of GV jocking this week 😉 He’s earned it though. Let this week be known as the week of THUNDER!!!

Gary, surprised you didn’t remember but you gave the 07 Barroche a VaynerPAZZz on episode 738 about a year ago (Mott – link it up!) calling it “good, but a little disjointed; a little one dimensional as well”. Gotta give you credit, you’re palate is consistent.
QOTD: My Vikings are on a bye so I’ll pick the NFC Central match-up – Green Bay 34 Detroit 17.
QOTD: Easts 20 – St George 13 (NRL Grand Final – Australian Rugby League) and thinking of a Bordeaux Blend but probably from an Aussie producer… or maybe a malbac… its been a while..

QOTD 1: I’ve got to agree with Steve’s Bengals-Browns prediction 34-9
2: I’m finishing off a bottle of the Fireblock Watervale Riesling from Cinderellawine tonight, after that ??
Gary, I started watching your show for fun, I use it more and more as a wine index. Meaning I pick a wine, search, then check what you’ve said about the wines and learn as simple as that. It’s a lot of fun, and adds some live tasting notes to my classic references like the world atlas of wine and the big guys.
California.
I usually not a fan of California, but I have to say one can find from time to time a fantastic producer that tries to get a balance btw old world / new world. I find the best CA wines are true to their nature, but don’t go over the top. I still can’t drink 95% of the CA cabs though.
QOTD1 – Giants lose
QOTD2 – Dolcetto d’Asti, casasta Monticello, great wine for $10!
QOTD – Stanford 35 Oregon 31
QOTD2 – Fume Blanc that is left in the fridge. Not very exciting…

QOTD: Do many non-US viewers know enough to make a football prediction? Not saying you shouldn’t ask such a question, but it may lead to less comments. Just something to consider.second QOTD, good thing you asked as tonight I opened a bottle of (Bodega) El Esteco, 2008, Tannat (Argentina) it is only £6 ($8-10?), exclusive to Marks and Spencer in the UK market. It has so much fruit, but the tannins are holding it down, arguably making it an unusual wine that is simultaneously food friendly, as well as a fruit bomb…. that is until the nice high-cocoa style bitterness on the finish. One of the best values i’ve ever had.To put my tannat comments in context: never tried tannat based wines before, (just as a minor player in some Cahors) as I only just bought some Madiran wine so it’ll probably be way too early to drink.

Glad to hear that the best grenache was from California. Enjoyed the week and the format,
going back to what you do.
QOTD: 1. Seahawks 24 St. Louis 21 2. Amavi Cb 2007, I told the lady at the wine store that you rated it highly. She said that she did not know. I was crushed.
