Slightly better than part one but someone should have told this guy that he was on Wine Library TV and not a visit with his shrink. ‘Put some strain on my marriage’. No one wants to know matey.

Not a real fan of this guest… just my opinion.

    Ditto….just sayin. No thunder. πŸ™

Hey everyone I am from western Canada and heading into New york city for the first time to catch a Giants game ( sorry Gary Jets aren’t playing that weekend) was wanting some info on some killer restaurants, just flat out awesome food and wine

  • Zach

I give this guy credit, you saying you don’t like him, no thunder ect. He is a hard working wine maker trying to make it in this economy!

  • email Ian idorin @winelibrary ,com he will hook u up, but 1 word Marea!

  • CLEhitman

Gotta admire this guys passion. I hope to give his wine a try in the future considering the level of intensity that he applies to the winemaking process. Good luck Tim, i really enjoyed your take.

  • good luck selling a wine to little monsters

A very different type of guest! I liked the show! Maybe I’m just old-fashioned, or prejudiced or judgmental…. but I never imagined a wine maker like this could exist. He’s cool, creative, out-of-this-world, funky, different. I’d love to try his wines. In fact, I’d love to find a way to work with him to get his wines this side of the world. Can you imagine sitting in the middle of the winter night (i.e. the night that lasts 6 months) on beautiful reindeer skins in a house made of ice watching the northern lights (aurora borealis) whilst drinking a clean 18.5% red wine? Couldn’t be better, could it?!

  • Tpierce1

Tim has done two things that many of us probably never will, he completed a marathon as well as produced numerous accredited wines. I totally respect him and he has the same attitude Gary had years back so you people who boo him are ignorant.

QOTD: Not a clue, as I don’t follow hockey- sorry! πŸ™

  • I was impressed with Tim’s passion for making wine the way that HE thinks it should be made and following through with it despite the risk. I wish him well and I hope to try some of his juice at some point.

A dislike-comment-button would come in handy sometimes ;). Nice show, liked the nerd stuff about yeast, oak, barrels and the wacky biodynamics! Would definitely like to try this 18,5 syrah.

    QOTD: no hockey for me…

  • Interesting guest… nerdy wine making stuff… still diggin’ the King’s Throwback…

QOTD: depends if they win or lose the game… some bubbles if they win πŸ˜‰

    GARY!!!

QOTD: Sorry, I just dont know…but I would think whatever they want!! LOL

BTW…I havent said it here on WLTV..I was out of the loop for a while…but want to say I hope you had a wonderful birthday Gary!!!

  • Chicago Mark

As a die hard Chicago Blackhawk fan i think they’d even drink md 20/20 if it came in the “CUP” again this year ! Kings looking good so far this year..looking forward to our game with them Nov 27th.

  • I have to go on record as saying this is by far the saddest and worst guest of all time. And I am suprised you liked the wines given your description in all honesty, sounded like they were pretty big forward wines that usually don’t do too well on the show.

  • Hope we end our losing streak by then πŸ˜‰

  • TitanicJack

Still not a Tim Spear fan personally, but I certainly acknowledge and respect that many others are. I believe their is a market for his wines in the industry and hope he continues pursuing his goals. Wish he had left out the political comments. Hope he understands Bush hasn’t been President for the last 22 months and it is a crime to give wine to toddlers–at least in the United States. QOTD was bizarre. Who cares?

  • Hey who saw the crazy offer we did at WL today? http://bit.ly/dcpDvS

  • He is setting real high profile for the different wines. 18.5 % !! and that is al natural from the start. Gary, did you let your dad try the syrah? So were can I get that syrah? Would you like to import to Sweden Tim ? Oh you have I see thet the Hommage a Henri Bonneau is availableQOTD: Wine? Hockeyplayers? Beer dude, beer πŸ˜€ at least all the swedish players in the NHL. I think that is a nordic thing πŸ™‚

  • castello

When did he get politcal? I must have missed it.

  • Oh he just said, I don’t want to be political, but I would never vote for Bush. No big deal.

  • Saw, but refrained from buying. Had just baought the Secret pack for my brother i Oregon and you don’t ship to Sweden so….I’ll save that money for another wine. Maybe I order Hommage a Henri Bonneau 2003 from Clos Mimi, It’s availabe in Sweden …

  • NY Pete

    pimp … πŸ˜›

  • castello

    Thanks.

  • I’m trying to figure this guest out. He immediately turned me off when he said “I’ll drink Champagne over domestic sparking any day.” in part one. Maybe if he stops worrying about being a “celebrity winemaker” and silly marketing ploys and just being a good winemaker and businessman the accolades and business will come.

Can’t even give a decent QOTD I’m so confuzzled.

    meh.

  • WING NUT here! I’ll drink anything LidstrΓΆm drinks!

    Great episode… love the honesty.

  • Two words for you my friend: Free shipping. πŸ™‚

  • Yes, yes you are. πŸ˜‰

  • LurkerKing

QOTD: NHL Players are rich. They drink top wines from top producers. Mark Recchi is one of the biggest collectors in the league. He drinks Napa cabs and first and second growth Bordeaux. I’m also told he supports the lurker movement in the WLTV discussion section.

Interesting, sincere guy. Overpriced couple of wines (I don’t ever remember $75-93 points flying off the shelves but I suppose you know more than I). Terrible QOTD, completely wasted opportunity.

  • LurkerKing

seems like a nice guy but the past life thing was a little odd (even for a lurker like me). I’m just glad he didn’t cut his ear off like van gogh as a gift for the vayner*nation

  • LurkerKing

Here here. I second that. FREE SHIPPING!!!

  • Anonymous

    QOTD — sparkling riesling!

  • QOTD: When Tim Thomas and the rest of the Bruins win the Stanley Cup this year, I’m sure they’ll be drinking a very nice Ice Wine. Just kinda makes sense to me.

  • LurkerKing

PS The Lurker challenge continues… πŸ™‚

  • Hahaha. Now who doesn’t love a gift of ear? πŸ˜›

Yeah, agreed. But the past life thing didn’t bother me that much. It didn’t help when he mentioned his love of Renoir. Not a fan of impressionism.

  • Alexandre-CF

    G-R-E-A-T guest.

QOTD: maybe some 2004 Clos Mimi Mcginley Vineyard Syrah… πŸ˜›

  • Cabfrancophile

Like the sincerity, creativity and originality at play here. But he does seem kind of focused on making his wines compare to other “greats” so he can be a famous winemaker. Like the drive there, it’s just getting wrapped up in making wine for high price and prestige maybe turns me off a bit.

  • If I guess correctly I want a bottle of something sparkly and a box of something dark chocolaty (nothing with mint or fruit…bleh)

    Guess #1: Randy Blackmore
    Guess #2: Jack Burton
Guess #3 : Justin Navello (aka Cheese Girl)

THANKS GV @ TIM, really enjoyed this episode. The honesty and passion really rang true with me. I have today become a Tim SPEAR fan. Man, you blew me away!!!!!

QOTD: Big Reds – Bordeaux Left and Right Banks and Cali Cabs

  • A reallly great show and guest. Kudos to you both. I just wish he had bottled a Merlot. Don’t cave to the Hollywood masses!

QOTD: Since most of my boys are Russians, I’m guessing they would prefer vodka but since you said “wine” maybe they would go to Champagne. Of course, after they hoist the Stanley Cup this year, the bubbly will be flowing!

Unleash the Fury should be the name of your next wine.

    Cheers!

    FO CAPS!!!

  • Cabfrancophile

    One word: Syramarone!

  • ahhahahahaha u guys want it, email me!
