  • Mott

Everything needs to be up to date, your browser, your OS, Java. Firefox most current version is 3.6.13

  • Anonymous

    No show today?

  • Anonymous

Okay, let’s agree to disagree. πŸ™‚ I would DEFINITELY decant this wine.

  • Randall

Amen, Mott!! No more “whining” from me… just “wining”!
Firefox has been the Loooonnnngggg awaited answer.

  • RobinC

Disqus is thwarting me in every way possible, but I did finally get a chance to say that I know virtually nothing about St. Chinian and I don’t have a real feel for what a nerdy wine is. I’m thinking that it is something that is very difficult to pronounce correctly unless you are a native speaker of the language spoken in the country from which that wine came.

  • Randall

Look at the comments below for the answers to the “Disgust” problems…

    GARY:

I get it. The Jets lose, again, which means – in your world, anyway – more days off to sulk. That’s cool. Well, lame actually, but whatever. It’s just the new WLTV. We’ve all adjusted by now. No matter. Still: Boo hiss.

(ps – Remember the old WLTV? Remember the love, the heart?)

  • Adam

waiting on #960, come on Gazza.

P.S any plans for the best of the year show? Like a best red and and best white Under $20, $20 to $60 and $60 plus. I think it would make a great “Year in Review” show

  • JerseyJohn

QOTD: Know nothing about St. Chinian.

Nerdiest wine as of recent: 2006 Col Di Bacche Morellino di Scansano “Rovente”

  • LurkerKing

    nice mix.

  • ALLAN

    Weak sauce!

Hey Gary, what are you waiting for? Reload the thunder machine!!!

  • Kat

Hi Gary… I’m pretty much a wine noob but I like your energy.

You guys should think about putting a random button for people new the site, for old episodes.

  • Anonymous

Kat, they do. It is at the top of the page that says; “Past Episodes”. Just click on that and you have every episode since the begining, “And then there was Gary Vay-ner-chuck!”. Enjoy and Cheers!

  • Dcaragher

GV – Good show, I know nothing about St. C, so it’s great to learn something new! One of the hundreds of reasons I love this show!

QOTD: I know nothing, but the nerdiest wine I’ve had lately was a Viura from the Rioja!

  • Anonymous

Thank you for your response, so you think a few hours would be better? In the bottle or in a decanter?

  • Anonymous

Never heard of it!! Must find. More nerdy areas and wines thanks.

QOTD: Domaine de la Janasse, VdP D’Orange from Rhone…nerdy because it’s mostly Merlot based (am I the only one who thinks Merlot will be making one hell of a comeback and will pound the s*** out of Pinot…revenge is near!!)

and I had semi expensive AligotΓ© from a good Burgundy producer who’s name I can’t recall right now. Would be cool to see AligotΓ© and Gamay getting some more attention in stead of Chard+Pinot.

Gary, aren’t you back from Paris yet???!!

Oh come on. It’s the 14th of December and we’ve had *three* episodes so far this month? Maybe I should just stop checking for the rest of the month and hope Gary’s New Year’s resolution is to stop letting episodes slide like this. At least then there should be a steady stream of shows for the first half of January, until he forgets about it, like how there were going to be fewer guests this year.

By now it has become obvious to everyone that the WLTV that was is not going to follow us into the new year. It just isn’t; Gary has taken on too many things to keep putting out the same level of content that he has been for years. He’s been telling us he can, but the evidence just isn’t there, and I don’t know why anyone would still believe him. This is too bad, and some people will argue that he’s snubbing the people who made him, but it doesn’t have to be a completely bad thing. Gary needs to be honest about it, and tell us how he’s going to change the show so that he can still do it in some form, alongside the rest of his committments.

Whatever the new format is — shorter episodes five days a week, normal-length episodes three days a week, whatever — it needs to be consistent. It feels like more often than not lately when I come to check to see if the new episode is up, it isn’t, because there isn’t a new episode that day. I’m tired of it. There needs to be consistency.

So my suggestion would be to change over to the new format at the beginning of the year, and then actually deliver on it. But there’s still half a month until then, and can’t we try to make it a good couple of weeks, for old times’ sake?

At one point I might have tried to argue with you regarding his work load, however, I have nothing. I might acctually agree with you, and I am ushually the brown nose in the group.

  • LurkerKing

    Lurking is not a crime.

  • Anonymous

    Nice.

  • Anonymous

Yeah. It’s hard to yell at the guy, because the reason he doesn’t have as much time for WLTV as he used to is that he’s been so successful, and I don’t think any of us begrudge him that. I’m glad he’s raking in cash, and I understand that family comes first, and after that WLTV is one of the only places he can trim the fat since it isn’t a contractual obligation. I just think he needs to make a WLTV State of the Union of sorts and put it all on the table; why have there been so many weeklong absences the past few months? Has it really been a spate of bad luck, or, as we all suspect, had the workload just grown to be unreasonable? I think we’d all be a lot more understanding if there were something to understand, instead of a bunch of guesses to make.

  • ALLAN

Yo, G! “Changing da Wine World” means pumpin’ out new episodes!! ;P

  • redmon

saw phis perform that last year..was awesome!

  • larsS

a wltv state of the union? deliver us from evil, please, let the man be free of every charge, and let you people read a book in the meanwhile or change the world yourself..
the show is here to inspire, not make addicts of wineentertainment..

  • If it was you would be so in detention right now…. πŸ˜›

? What are these boko’s you speak of? Are they some sort of ancient scroll passed down through the ages, placed on moveable type press, slaved over by many tiny hands and giant machines the size of buildings? This concept you speak of scares me, I do not believe I will take your advice, besides, I need my fix. Cannoot tyyeept hangds shjaking,,,,,,,l,vklfdhiuwhefukrbevjkbare.

No; the show is here to entertain, and to educate.

Which is besides the point, since it can’t do either of those things if it’s even on. Take your dismissive silliness elsewhere. Yes, WLTV is a free show on the Internet. But many of us have been watching it for the past two, three, four years. We like it. We watch it during our lunch breaks, or when we get home from work. And, because of us, it has grown into something hugely popular. If there weren’t people watching his show, if we weren’t here backing his brand, Gary wouldn’t have gotten his book deals. Wine Library’s sales wouldn’t be quite as good as they are. His radio show wouldn’t be on the air.

I don’t call Gary an addict when he skips a show because his sports team lost a game. I don’t watch sports, but I get it; he likes it. It helps him unwind. Screw you.

I concur with all of your statements. Regardless of the content that may or may not produce itself in the future, I will always remember the good time; brown bags, shows almost every day, Sir Gary, all the amazing guests he has had on despite certain individuals qualms with that content. However, I do not believe those times are over. But a “reality check” if you will might be in order. LONG LIVE WLTV!!

You and audiofan can go “spoon” on the couch while you “find something else to do”…
    We’ll wait on Gary…

I find it ironic and slightly absurd that people such as this recommend us “addicts” find other forms of entertainment. It seems to me that taking time out of one’s day to post in response to another individual and say their post is wrong, inane or a waist of time is completely hypocritical and downright preposterous. We all have our own posting rates, some of us post religiously and constantly, others post after they watch or when they can. In my humble opinion all of them, no matter how many people feel they are gracing us with their words on a screen, contribute to the community of this forum. I for one am thankful for all the complements, responses, information and insults I have received over the years. GOOD TIDINGS AND A HAPPY NON DENOMINATIONAL PERIOD OF CELEBRATION TO ALL!

  • I want my WLTV

  • Adam

I hope Gary didn’t trip! Sorry bad joke in tough times for the Jets

  • Dino jr is cordially requesting more thunder.

  • Randall

    You’re SO p.c….

    πŸ™‚

Agree. Only if someone has “fired the first shot” do I post something negative in response. Why do people even Bother to post if they don’t like something? Do they walk down the street and window shop, see something they don’t want to buy, and then Rush into the store to rudely and nastily let the proprietor know that there is No Chance that they will purchase anything at his/her store?
In the words of the great philosopher Bugsicus Bunnitus… “What a buncha maroons!”

    Play nice now

I think it’s more about wines or grapes or areas most of us haven’t tasted or even heard of.

  • Randall

With the possible exception of the final words,
I think she has played EXCEEDINGLY politely.

Dearest Lord Gary, and all members of the Nation of Vayner!

Citizens of the Nation of Vayner are so wonderfully passionate! This fact was brought to my attention over the past couple fortnights whilst I perused the comments. It is quite obvious Lord Gary has succeeded in changing the wine world. Rather than spend the nights drinking the fetid urine water of Gallo and Carlo Rossi, fellow vayniacs unite and thirst for Lord Gary to expand their palates! While these prolonged absences in shows bring out the foulest language amongst our people, this is when Lord Gary’s influence is most noticeable!

Lord Gary! I salute you! In the morrow, I plan to shag a top of the line wench in your honour!

Fellow citizens of the Nation of Vayner! Just for a moment, hold your tongues and drink with me in the name of Vaynerchuk!

    Cheers!

    Jeremy

  • frank

It cant be that bad,the jets still have a chance at the playoffs but look on the brightside if the jets don’t make the playoffs you can come up to foxborough and play with us new england fans! PS you bring the wine i’ll bring the food.

  • RobinC

Thanks for your response. Nerdy to me implies some precocious awkwardness, not fitting in well, not on the same wave length as others – like Sir Gary. I think the wines you described are inaccessible but impossible to describe until tasted. I’ll think about it though.
