line of the day – ‘I used to do ‘other things’ to bring out my personality on stage.

The lighting was horrible in this episode and that ruined it for me – either my eyes are going or everything looked dark. Also, it’s always tricky when the guest knows so little about wine, no matter how much of a good bloke they might be.

    Great guy, talented band.

QOTD Wine: anything good, but not too subtle.

Tip: I’ve heard that Reds sometimes have a chemical in them that emulates melatonin, the body’s sleep hormone, especially Italian reds – “wot can induce the snoozy”.

QOTD: I agree, white all the way- I try to tend to think about the wine more when I’m drinking reds, not that there aren’t fascinating & complex whites too, but I’ll pop a bottle of white or bubbles anytime I just want to hang out & have a good time.

I like to check your playlist GV, no way u have any semblance of rock n roll in your i pod

When did Howie Mandel start playing for “Train”? πŸ™‚ Great show! Great “Thunder” Love It, Love It, Love It!!!!!!!!!! Wat to bring the “Thunder” back! That Riesling sounds right up my alley, I’m going to have to try and find it. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!!!!!! You are looking good GV and relaxed. Good for you GV!

QOTD: A nice bottle of Sparkling Wine or Champagne like Veuve Clicquot or a great Pinot Noir.

  • problems with sound when the text is shown.
Well I guess I have to listen to a song today????
QOTD: Actually I would drink a well chilled lager, but if pressed I drink a good syrah and eat som chorizo and cheese.

And you all jump into the pick-up truck and take turn in the parking lot with your shirts off.

  • Good shit Jimmy!

QOTD: I’d def be beasting of the riesling before a rock concert. Headed to an Aiden show tomorrow. I might crack a bottle and tip a glass or two back for rock and roll!

  • haha has the term “popping bubbles” been coined yet? I think ill write a rap song about it called “Pass the Bubbles” featuring Busta Rhymes, P. Diddy and Pharrell.

  • To get technical, what kind of band is Train?

Missed hearing from you in a while. Very cool interview. A wine and rock festival. Maybe some good food. How could you go wrong? I had the Que Syrah in September at the Wine and Chile fiesta in Santa Fe and liked it enough to buy 3 more bottles. Wife hates Riesling so I rarely buy any. Red wine goes with most rock to me though I do think herbal preparations are best before rock concerts. What was with that Jets coach Sunday? Made the worst of a bad situation. Hard to watch any of it.

Oh and didn’t link the website.

  • Oh btw the last rock concert I was at was Chris Isaak at Chateau Ste. Michelle in Woodinville, WA. We slurped reds all night. AND IIIIIIIIII WANNA FALL IN LOVE!!!

  • Tony B

Great to see the Australian style of riesling – bone dry, as Gary V says – get a look in. And with a bit of bottle age too. Yes, I’m biased, I work at Yalumba, but I do love a good aged riesling and try to get my friends in USA to taste it every time I’m over there. Tony B

  • That is definitely a great link. Thx bud.

QOTD: I think before a rock concert I would drink a basic red table wine with a nice snack. Or I think this is an occasion that I would prefer rose or champagne. I’m not sure why but I like the idea of sharing a rose with friends before a show.

A dry Riesling from Australia, 90 points for 14 dollars…(flabbergasted).

  • I would call them a Pop act based on the songs I have heard, same as Nickleback and the ilk

  • NY Pete

it’s a $38 bottle at WL … take it Jimmy!

  • NY Pete

a rock concert … pass the doob.

  • Oh ok I can see that.

  • QOTD: I would have to go with a crisp and high acid Riesling with a touch of residual sugar on the tip of the tongue… maybe a bottle from the Mosel. I could see myself rolling to a Mayer Hawthorne show or Built to Spill concert with a bottle for sure. Great idea, Jimmy.

p.s. GO DUCKS! We are going for back-to-back wins tonight against the Isles.

  • Anonymous

    That’s cool.

I think the green bottles are from Mosel and the brown from Rheinhessen or Rheingau

  • QOTD: I’d be drinking a couple of bottles of Prosecco before going into any concert, that would get me sufficiently amped up!

  • succinct.

  • Nice.

    Definitely something sparkling.

  • Ha! I said craft beer, craft beer not Bud or Coors Light. πŸ˜› If I brought that I would get my ass kicked as well.

    I said consummate V’s! consummate V’s!

ps…any possible shirts coming off….a dinner and movie needs to be added to that bottle of wine. πŸ˜‰

While I am more into alt. country,
my wife loves Train. (ok, me too, to a degree).
Very nice show Gary, and good conversation with Jimmy.
QOTD. Would depend on who is performing, and where.

  • Jay

Quite a fail on the basics of lighting (never shoot into the light source), but just nice to have a new episode to watch so it’s all good. =)

  • Industrial or Prog Rock? (Tool or NIN)

  • Awesome! Thanks for the Link. I just listened to a Reggae version of maneater. πŸ™‚

Yeah, I’ve heard of that chemical…it’s called “alcohol.”
