Lines of the day – ‘Sardine juice meets raspberry juice’ and ‘I’m a huge fan of red radish – Lizzie gets mad because I eat ’em then burp a little and it smells terrible.’

Like the wines, GV gets a bit funky before the Jets big game.

Hey Gary, here comes a suggestion, why don’t you come over to Italy (Tuscany) in the second half of february and do some on the spot tasting? The new Brunello vintages and Chianti Classico are going to be released.

    QOTD: I like the quickies!

Good show, to bad the wines were not. QOTD: I like tight shows with 3 or 4 wines, double blind. If you have a guest a bit longer is great if they have true passion for wine and are interesting.

  • NY Pete

    hey hey

    i love brunello

QOTD: Like I have said many, many, many, many times before when you have asked, I like the tight, focused shows. I like the brown bag shows. I like the nerdy shows. I like the traditional “taste 3-4 wines” shows. I like the lengthy interview/guest shows. So keep mixing it up and doing all of these formats. That’s one of the things that makes WLTV great.

  • Alexandre-CF

QOTD: i like this formats, but i like the longest ones beter.

    yesterday qotd 500 to 600
today qotd i like mixing it up

QOTD – format is okay. would like to see 3 wines per show.

Too bad about the poor wine choices today but it was worth it to see the emotional Jets fan come through here.

  • You’ve asked this question before, and I definitely feel that whether it’s a short 5 minute episode, 20 minute full, or two parter each it’s place in the show. It’s not like people can’t watch the longer episodes in parts and come back 2 or 3 times to finish one, but it’s nice to get a whole episode at once. And for those who want to stay longer they can always go watch a previous episode on days you do short episodes. They’re all great in their own way, I guess.

  • Forget the Jets, I’m pulling for Fed to win in Australia! But sure, it’d be nice if they won, I suppose.

GV, the shorter (“tighter”) shows work better with Italian or South American whites than they do with red wines. Just my feeling…

QOTD from Barbera Show(!) – I’m guessing I’ve watched about 250 WLTV’s. Probably right there in the 54th percentile when compared with other vayniacs.

I do like the tight shows for their informative and nerdy content, but the more wines you get to, the better – maybe you can capitalize on your ‘tight’ format to do 4 wines in 15-20 minutes or something.

My favourites are the blind tastings, though. I love the climactic endings!

  • Episodes from Dallas would be amazing! …and so would another garyvaynerchuk.com update..

  • Throw another dagger my way why don’t you. You think it will be a repeat of the Colts game? Same score, last minute FG. Hmmm.

I was hoping these wines would come to the table with something especially since these guys have been working it since 1352. I guess they put everything into their label which is gorgeous.

QOTD: As long as we have you pumping out shows, whether it be 5 or 10 minutes, I’m a happy camper. I like it tight! 🙂

    Cheers!

    P.S. Caldwell needs to go.

  • Ahhh, a tennis fan. I hope Fed wins too but he barely got by Gilles so he may lose before he meets Nadal.

  • Where or where can I get a big ass glass? I have looked EVERYWHERE!!!

I like a mixture of different formats as some have noted already. I’m definitely over football at this point! I love college ball & the dh is a Giants (yeah, i know…) fan.
QOTD: I guess I’ve only watched about 25 WLs, but I do enjoy checking in! Just started a wine class locally and intend to take their viticulture and enology programs and dream/plan for my retirement/rethinking work years!

That’s the way I’m thinking abaut it.

NY Pete….when he talked about going to the Super Bowl at the end, he didn’t mention that he was going with NY Pete. I’m starting to worry…..

    Good episode, good information.

QOTD – Each episode has it’s own style, and own advantages and disadvantages. Stay with a variety, it is what you are good at. Blind tastings, special guests, focus on one (1) wine, one (1) on one (1) comparisons, all you really need is a Bobby Flay “throwdown” to froun it out.

Reidel makes a stemware line for Target. The big ass glass is called the Burgundy I think.

  • This to me was the perfect format. A couple of wines, good length, good info… well done. Keep them coming just like this.

  • Edward Salonia

It’s called “Sommeliers Burgundy Grand Cru” available here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006E9ST/ref=oss_product

QOTD: SS likey the short, tight episodes…

that was some bad Brunello, wow.

qotd; not falling for this again

Really liked today’s show. Good mix of education and classic-GV personality. Kinda sucks the wine wasn’t great.

QOTD: I enjoy these tight episodes, especially when they’re put out on a regular basis. It’s nice coming home from work and knowing I can sit down and learn something.

Favorite line: “I’ll cry like a man should when he gets to his destination.”

  • TheSmirkingLurker

    Gary:

    This show did not suck.

    Good job.

QOTD:I have no life nor any prospects of getting one anytime soon so I like the longer episode as they proportionately vill more of the void 😉

  • Jay

Totally hoping for a crushing Jets victory this weekend!!! JETS 2 THE BOWL 4 THE WIN.

G, I like the concise format. But, it’s best when you’ve got a few different wines to compare/contrast with. Today was good because you went w/two biggies in the wine world as far as region. Doesn’t matter that they both sucked, that’s part of the game.

Should be a great weekend of football. How about a kickoff Friday w/something special. Maybe power 2007 Chateaneuf, 05 Barolo, 07 Napa Cab? Something to put us all in the mood for one rockin’ weekend loaded w/playoff football.

Liked the episode. I dont feel that its a bad episode when the wine isnt as spectacular as originally thought. I feel i can learn as much from an episode with a dissapointing wine as one with a great wine.

I like the short ep, but I’m a bit ADD.

I’ve been enjoying the pithy-ness of the latest shows. I’m more interested in wine talk than Jets’s talk (although I do love me some football). Let’s say 80:20 breakdown, wine:sports. Keep it up G!

Liked the episode. Good length of time. Also good to know that a wine sucked, saves me some cash.

  • Randall

    Ouch to the pezzle…

    QOTD:
Wow. Didya notice, Gary, that there seems to be Even More love for the brown bags than the last time you posed this question? AND more fans wanting you to keep mixing it up, as you have always done? Count me in under
    D) All Of The Above
Although you Know I love those Brown-Freaking-Bagz!!

  • DaveAll

QotD: 10 minutes is great. 5 is too little, and 25 is too long.

great show. again. thanks for doing these. stay closer to Mott. smile.

  • Anonymous

I like the way you mix it up with short and long episodes, guest and no guest. Love the show! There is no other show like this out there. Thanks Gary!

Good show. Question for you. Since this is not the first time that you have been in serious disagreement with critics that you respect, how much of this disagreement would you say is due to variations between bottles? I know I have often thought that the second bottle of a wine I really liked was not nearly as good as the first one. How much variance have you seen between bottles of the same wine and vintage? (question open to all, of course.)

I like the educational shows, but I like them all. If they were all 10 minutes, 2 wines…we would all get bored. Keep it fresh. Sadly, I dont think your Jets can win in Pitt this weekend.

  • Anonymous

I like a mix. Brown bags rock. One and done is too little, but better than no show at all. More often than not the guest episodes are good ones, with a few bombs mixed in. You’re great whether the Jets win or lose, but I surely hope they win!!

QOTD: I like the shorter 10 to 15 minutes shows. It’s hard to watch a 30 or 35 minute
episode when you have kids. Keep up the good work and I look forward to episode 1,000!

  • Randall

Throw down with another critic? Or two wines “head to head”?
    p.s. Agree on variety…

  • Randall

YES! It pairs well with Pinots and Belgian beers…

QOTD: Shorter is better. New to the program… and its much easier to commit to 10 to 12 minutes rather than 20ish. Great show today… I enjoy the brutal honesty. Tell it like it is my friend.

Sharapova, Hantuchova, Zvonareva, Dementieva, Clijsters, Wozniacki, Ivanovic, Now thats some tennis. I got all the ah’s work’n, but I think it’s time for all the grunting to stop. It’s a bit much.

  • Thank u!

  • Thnx Daveall!

  • Thnx Major

  • thnx TSL!

QOTD: I’m a fan of the the short episodes. A couple wines, some personal reflection and musings, and off we go. I don’t mind the longer episodes per se, but a little goes a LOOOONG way with them.

Throw in some brown bags, maybe some LAID BACK COUCH ACTION (hint), and where’s Vaynerchuk Sr? We want Sasha!

  • SS 🙂

  • 🙂 rad!
