This is my favourite episode ever. As a fellow Jets fan, that is exactly how I felt and exactly as I acted. We’re not greedy – just one Superbowl will do. Just one.

Now you’ve done it! First there was Kahuna’s page to bookmark. Then drunkandunemployed. Then Belching Monkey. Then Anders’ ChocolateTV. Then Dinosaur’s wine and burger site… Now yours! ;P
Yet another great site in the Vayniac universe…

  • :/ sorry homey.

  • Randall

Dude!! You need to Cease and Desist your lurker ways Pronto!! :D!!

  • Shonn Greene should have gotten the ball on the goal line!!

I’d rather see the Jets win a Super Bowl AFTER you buy them.

  • QOTD: How much water did you add to that dram of whiskey?
QOTD2: Are you glad you’re not a Lions fan like me?

awwww… sorry Gary. No one hates the Steelers more than Baltimore, so I definitely feel your pain. I was rooting for you!! Everyone would rather of you lost the 1st, won the 2nd, trust me.

  • Gary,

Just be glad you aren’t a Bills fan like me and suffer 4 Super Bowl losses in a row. Believe me, it hurts a lot more.

  • That means the world to me…thank you!

Bro I feel your pain! Those jerks decided to show up to play only in the second half. Poor tackling, horrible offensive play calling, didn?t capitalize on the steelers mistakes in the second half. That steelers team was very beatable. I?m wondering if we had a healthy Kris Jenkins anchoring that DLine what the outcome would have been.

  • I would say the end was near obvious by around 4:20, so GV can’t be held responsible for the last 40 seconds.

On another note, your comment about the millionaires is spot on. The top athletes are somewhat akin to the Bordeaux first growths – amazing, but likely over-valued. Trouble is that, at least in professional sports, the astronomical salaries can be traced to consumer (aka die hard fan) demand, and no matter how inflated a player’s salary is w.r.t. his actual merit, there are still plenty of people willing to look past such details.

    1) I didn’t know you could be so quite… 😉

    2) The only thing that matters is who you see when you go home after work…

GV, I feel your pain even though I was rooting hard against your Jets. I am a Boston Sports fan across the board, so your team ripped out my heart last week, and the Giants ruined the Pats perfect season in 2007. However, NOTHING will compare to the pain of 1986 & 2003 as a Sox fan. That said, the pay off in 2004 was like nothing I can even explain. I went to the victory parade in Boston and Pedro Martinez dumped water into the crowd. I kept telling my friends, I was baptized by Pedro. I will NEVER root for the Jets, but I will say that someday, they will find a way to win. When they do, all this will make it even sweeter.

And now, I will root for the Packers.

  • Sorry about the Jets, Gary. They had a great run. I don’t really follow football ( sorry love wine more), but since watching this show over the last year, I always check to see how the Jets are doing and think about how happy or sad they make you. Selfishly, I was really hoping they would have made it to the Superbowl so that you would go crazy and taste something absurdly expensive or rare…. so we’ll just give this 61′ Latour a sniffy sniff …next year. Sorry Gary.

    GV,

As a PSL holder I lost out on the opportunity for XLV tickets, very disheartening.

…baseball season is right around the corner tho…

  • Real emotion elevated to performance art! love it, sorry for your loss, but it could be worse: you could be a Bears fan like me.

  • Cheers to an epic season bro! Sorry it had to end this way..

  • JOEYdaMUSH

    hahahaha

    same old J-E-T-S!

  • Not sure when was the last time I saw GV this quiet!

Always next season Gary, the Jets have most of the tools to go all the way, just need a bit of tweaking. Reminds me of the Bucs the year before they won the superbowl.

  • I am sincerely sorry that the Steelers blew away your favorite team. As a token of my sympathy, I would like to send you a free 2010-2011 NFC Conference championship T-shirt. Please send size and preferred color (green or gold).

  • HAHAHAHA for some reason i just kept laughing all episode… i couldn’t believe you would would go all episode without saying anything (other than whispers)

  • this was the most depressing and heartbreaking 5:07 minutes of your life we’ve ever seen. I knew you’d take it hard and i guess whiskey helps I am confident that you will see several superbowl games wins by the Jet’s in your lifetime…be confident in that! Sometimes we want to be victorious today but in some instances it’s better and victory is can be much sweeter when it happens tomorrow..sip on that thought.

QOTD: How long have YOU taken to get over an enormously derailing loss by your very favorite sports team?

QOTD: Hmmmm, good question. I guess when the ‘Hawks lost to those damn Steelers (NOW, you know what I felt like! A game within the grasp and yet….) in the Super Bowl a couple years back, it took me a couple-three days. I suspect you’ll be over it by….maybe…June?

Hang in there. Sheryl is right, sometimes waiting for the prize makes the fruit that much sweeter.

  • Cudos for making this a real comedy show 🙂 keeping a straight face must have been hard and I wish I could have seen Motts reactions
2:31 a little frown to the bourbon 🙂
I wonder if the jets players had the same blues?
But ,bourbon, really? Belarus vodka should have been the medicine!!!!

  • This is the best episode of WLTV ever. Mark this one down in your calender Mr. Vaynerchuk. It’s all down hill from here. Your courage to give us this moment in your life, your devotion to the Jets, has let us feel your pain. Thank you for letting us witness your unending feelings for your team. I too am sulking in the what could have been. I too am wondering if only… Would we have won if Cutler would have stayed in the game? Would we have had a chance if on 3rd and 2 Martz doesn’t call an end around. So many what if’s, so little answers. I feel your pain my friend and I know you feel mine. God speed to your Jets in the future and God speed to my Bears!

  • I’m sorry for you mate…next year

Oh honey! That is just painful. Sometimes it takes something a little harder than wine to ease the sorrow. There’s always next year so keep the faith!!

I hope little Misha isn’t watching Daddy drown his sorrows.

Gary, how do you act when something really serious goes wrong? I totally get the “love your sports team thing.” But isn’t sports about entertainment, fun, sharing something in common with someone else, etc? I too love sports. I love NASCAR, and I am a Steeler’s fan. Yes, I am thrilled they are going to the Super Bowl. But how about focusing on the positive rather than the negative? The Jets fought an excellent fight. Be proud of their accomplishments this year. Often our difficult times make us stronger and that could very well mean that the Jets are going to be crazy successful next year. Stand tall, chin up, chest out! Be proud and go get ’em next year!

    GREATEST EPISODE EVER!

    Hahahahahahahahahaha

    No offence Gary but YES!!!!

If New England can’t make it to the dance then there is no way in christmas that the Juts should.

The bourbon looks very good but the bait and switch with the ice tea rather deflated me.

    hahahahahahahahaha

You?ve shown your dedication to the Jets over the years so I?m not going to try to match it, but I have felt pain too. Giants? fans don?t have a clue. Their disappointed this year, they don?t always make the playoffs, but when they do make the playoffs, a significant number of times they go on and win the Super Bowl. You think Steelers? fans know what pain is? As an Eagles? fan making the playoffs has become old hat. Real pain is losing the conference championship game in consecutive years. The Eagles lost three straight years. It reminded me of my youth and the pain of the Phillies losing the NLCS three straight years 76-78. The first one?s not as bad because the team progressed from the prior year. The next two (both against the Dodgers) were torture. It has scarred me for life. I despise the names Garvey, Lopes and Cey even though the Phillies have won two World Series since then. I started worrying about you in episode 972 when you talked about how you would react when you finally reach your goal. This signaled something in my mind that you were setting yourself up for a hard fall. This was very different from the New England game where you were protecting yourself.

    hahahahahahahahahaha

Payback is sweet…specially since it was the JUTS getting stomped.

Don’t woirry Gary, good thing is just like my Eagles the Jets are improving, another year will be hugely beneficial for Sanchez

  • Anonymous

Thoroughly entertaining, though I do feel bad for your loss. I love the show because of moments like this. So keep your head up and maybe you won’t have to take the hard road next year like my Packers were lucky enough to pull off this year!

Ouch, So happy my team’s going, but I can only imagine how tough it was for you. The Jets played a killer second half, and had me worried the whole time. Chin up, nothing to ashamed about.
