Lines of the day – ‘I literally want you to take a bell pepper, turn it into a boxing glove and punch me in the face’ and ‘If this was the 1960’s Mott would be smoking a lot of pot and I still wouldn’t be talking about Merlot.’

Great show, GV absolutely on point and pumped full of energy. This is what WLTV is all about

Great show GV, that Chinon is intriguing.
Mott!! Put that fire out!! Kkkkkkk?
    Funny recordings on the end.
Nice video with James S. (He shouted your name wrong!) the Store is awesome. I must go!!

    Big shout from BRAZIL!!

  • My Mom, who is 74, just got her Ipad and loves it. I gave up on my Iphone because of AT&T. Will return with Verizon. Great shows and can’t wait to help celebrate your 1,000 show.

Never heard of MPD. It looks good. Is it easy?

  • Anonymous

    I’m hoping he still does.

  • Anonymous

I don’ think it’s really released yet. He’ll let us know!

Randall wouldn’t go near the Grappa or the hippie lettuce!?

  • Randall

Let’s just hope his noggin doesn’t expand up into the ‘Kobe Bryant’ stratosphere. Then the moon will be torn apart from all those opposing pulls of gravity on it… 😉

    Welcome!

  • QOTD. iPhone.

Disappointed in your Chianti comments, Gary. You seem to be determined to bring the category down. I agree there’s a LOT of bad ones, but there are plenty of great examples too! Just like everywhere else! Why only singling them out? Let’s fight ALL bad wine instead!

  • Sweet…well I’m glad the CKC will still accept me…besides I just feel like I’m on perpetual winter vacation!

  • A shame about the tannat. I’ve actually had a few, and liked 2 of the 3.

QOTD: I have an old-school 5th Gen Video IPod, but not iPhone or iPad yet. My buddy who works for Apple insists I will be an all Mac househould by the end of next year.

I tried to watch it last night. Arg, fake drama! 10 minutes is all their getting from me!

    QOTD: No

TW&More has a Tannat from Uruguay that a I tried a couple of years ago, not bad. Producer starts with a P?

I like the Tannat from Madiran and I had a red blend from Gascogne not far from Madiran that was Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Tannat. It’s very good, Domaine du Chateau Larroque Cotes de Gascogne from Moore Brothers.

Some of us are still kids. You should try some of that chocolate when you have the munchies!

Allllan may never comment again. Where you at dude?

  • Randall

Yes… but I went WAAYYY too near the vino and the beers and the dessert wines that night…

Wauw. Amazing energy on this show, Gary! A shame about the Tannat. The label should’ve kept you off it, though. What a terrible sight….The cheap white stellenbosch play was huge in my household this last summer. How about doing some Austrian wines soon?
    QOTD: No.

    iphone and ipad.

Interesting with the Chinon. It’s not an area I’ve explored a lot, and weak cab franc scares me a bit, especially when Trouty gives it a shrug. Maybe next time. I have a good South African white just waiting for me to give it a whirl. Still not sure when I’ll get to it, but I’m intrigued.

QOTD: All I have is a dumb phone.

Good show Gary. Gotta love the Chinon, at all price points!

    QOTD: I have an iphone.

So true! I had to see if this comment would get buried, and you proved mr absolutely wrong! Thanks for reading and replying GV, and as always thank you for another great EP. Something tells me that you ‘re hustling to get to 1000 by the anniversary… I wish you luck! AND congrats on ALL of the CKC comments! They remind me of when I started watching the Thunder Show. Cheers, my friend!

  • Hmm I think I actually have to plan to meet Randall in october when I’ll come to the States 🙂

  • he’ll be back, ecstatic by the shout out

  • Oscar Carlsson from Sweden, on a sleep strike to promote Gary’s book!

That is correct about quality Madiran. Although you now have some Madiran producer’s coming out with fruitier versions in the hopes of gaining wider appeal. Those won’t age nearly as long and are of lower quality.
    How’s the wine in Thailand?

  • QOTD: No, I have an Android and and iPod touch.

  • John__J

Tell me about it. I from MD too and our liquor laws are absurd. It ‘s looking like 2011 will be our year however.
If I may make a suggestion, check out the MBBWL (Marylander’s for Better Beer and Wine Laws) online or join them on facebook. They’ll let you know how you and your friends can help if you want to. If I can, I’m hoping to testify in Annapolis again this year to help try and get it passed.

  • John__J

Yeah Lebanon. The great unsung country in Europe for wine! They have some killer values going on there, and not just from Chateau Musar.

  • ALLAN

I Am LAAAAAAATEEEE!!!!!! Sorry everyone. Shout out again??, please stop G ;;;))))

Von-Ner-Chuk,,,,, you gotta be kidding! 🙂

Qtod: No Sir! But I’ve got a pen and some paper so I will get by.

Tip top show G, me likes da values!! I see you’re getting excited too, as we move even closer to 1k. What a journey, huh? Makes you think. Good energy today 94p.

P.S. I was really sniffin’ sniffin’ last night and got arrested not long afterwards 😉

Having a Barolo as I type this really exciting comment (Pun) 2001 Bersano “Nivasco” and it’s only la-la. Seems a little bit jaded, but it wasn’t that expensive so I probably won’t pour it down the drain…….. 🙂

  • ALLAN

    Hey dude!

on the subject of value wines from around the world, I want to throw out a recommendation.

2009 Hughes Beaulieu Picpoul de Pinet Hughes Beaulieu. Picpoul is underrated in general, and this one is both cheap and great. ~$8-9. Comparable to muscadet and a little sauv blancish. Great acidity, crisp and clean, but not as delicate as you might think.

  • QOTD: iPhone & iPad- both friggin’ rock.

And Gary, long-time lurker here from ’08… Love the energy, and you’ve been unusually funny the last dozen or so episodes- thank you. I feel like you’re a friend, and I talk to others about you and your success with much joy! Excited for the new book, tour and the 1000th episode(hopefully on 21FEB- its my bday!).

GARY!! That’s all the love us packer fans get? I’m surprised you didn’t talk up your tasting with Suckling. It was a pretty cool tasting. Vahhhhnerchuk. Even though you were toned down, you brought the thunder.

QOTD: I talked my boss to get us each an iphone, my gf has an iphone, and now my brother and his wife both have iphones. It’s ridiculous how awesome they are, I hope something else comes along to challenge them, but I haven’t seen anything yet.

    QOTD: No, No

  • we have Ipad and love it!!! Iphone is ordered, verizon starts Feb. 10th Been lurkers for awhile and this year I will comment, I promise!

  • Anonymous

QOTD: No i phone & no i pad. Also I cancelled my cell phone once I met “stay with us” requirements. My wife travels for work so she still has her cell phone so she can call AAA whenever she backs over a rock or doesn’t put the car in park and wonders why the car won’t start etc. IMHO too many nerdy texters, too occupied to make eye contact let alone smile!

I have an Ipod touch 4G. Are you planning on releasing an app? That would be Radool!

It’s french. Tannat is pronounced “ta-nah”. The last “t” is silent/un-stressed. Like Merlot.

Oh yea re: the Super Bowl: Started on the Chenin Blanc then then some Chilean Carmenere probably a little early in the day in retrospect. Shortly after some HOT Buffalo Wings, sometime early in the 2nd half My wife and I both zonked out and woke up just as they announced the final score.

Have had an iphone 3 and iphone 4 … they are great, use them for everything. Like the value show.

  • Anonymous
