QOTD – Baby Gagia Espresso Machine. My family knows espresso. I won’t get into it. For the last 6 years, I had a nice Francis Francis machine on my counter top. Eh, it was past it’s time. After lots of research, I followed the ratings and bought this damn machine. It is either faulty, or this is a very bad machine. At about $400, I know I can expect a lot more. My instinct was to go with what I know best. I chased the reviews and ended up paying the cost. Well, a mistake, I hope not to repeat.

Most show are sort of regional, so it’s easy to get a feel for where the wines are from. It would have been nice for this show if there was a bit more info. I sort of caught, off-hand, that the first wine was Spanish(?). The second wine seemed California, but I don’t think it was ever mentioned.

QOTD: Probably the continual amount I spend on HD-cable, considering the one or two sporting events a month I actually watch.

He rarely goes below 80 so why not rate on a 20 point scale. With the pluses and minuses you’d be back to a 60 point scale so lets throw the whole thing out. Delicious or NOT! Smiley face!

I’ll fly out. Or take the rv for a massive road trip. Do we have to plan the 5 year 1000th episode for Jerry Vahnerchuck?

If God intended wine to be Kosher he/she would have made it out of,,,,,,,oops wrong show.

  • QotD: playoff tickets for my Kansas City Chiefs when they hosted the Baltimore Ravens this year. Matt Cassel revealed himself to be a fraud, which was bitterly disappointing.

Great idea to focus on premium Kosher wines! Sorry it didn’t pan out well with these two ๐Ÿ™

QOTD: I’m going to speak for my room mate on this one: He bought a 2000 Jetta in 2009 for $4500 which ended up having loads of major mechanical problems which cost him a bundle to continually get repaired. Then, when he traded it in a year later in 2010, he only got $1500 for it. OUCH! That was a reeeeeally expensive car for one year worth of use.

  • sounds that that is a place NOT to visit

Whilst it is disappointing to have two dud wines, I’ve gotta say it’s good to get these wines out in the open. There is nothing worse than spending good money on a high priced bottle of wine, and being let down. For me $40 is the point where I am really hoping (and maybe even expecting) something special. There are too many wines out there asking too much money and delivering too little.

  • Anonymous

I have no issue spending money on wine but it completely sucks when we open a high-priced bottle that drinks like a cheap option.

QOTD: Airline tickets! Particularly on any US domestic carrier. You think it can’t get any worse but they continue to surprise and disappoint.

Not sure I’d seek out Kosher, but interesting show. Amazed at the price points for a special wine for Kosher folks. thanks

Yes, but if a salad is vegetarian, the actual salad is different. The ingredients it is made from are not the same as a non-vegetarian salad. That grouping actually helps distiguish one salad from another in a substantive way. Whether or not a wine is kosher tells you absolutely nothing about what is in the wine.

  • Thanks Castello. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m proud of my school as you can tell. I think I broke my “like” button.

Georg Breuer, Berg Schlossberg 2007. Drank it ten years too early, but it should at least have shown something. My most expensive white wine to date. Served it blind and all six guests said it was just regular “below par Wednesday night Riesling”. Still makes me feel bad when I think about it and it’s nearly a year ago :ยด-(

  • ALLAN

Too bad, I have had some of his wines and they are stunning. But not the big Schlossberg, how much was it 500 kr. ? ? :ยดยด-(

QOTD: My kids’ athletic shoes. They need shoes for football, basketball, baseball but they are growing. Once I had to buy 2 pairs of basketball shoes during one season because of a big growth spurt.

I bring non-kosher-for-passover wine to the passover seder. I’m not kosher any other day so I can drink whatever wine I choose. So there!
