    QOTD – Double Blind Tasting!!

  • Yay for mention! (DarkSoldier)

QOTD: Non-grape fruit wines. And NO Arbor Mist.

(I suggest that because I’m a sucker for raspberry wine…yummy.)

I’ll give you some choices for the themes.

    Cornas
    Aglianico del Vulture
    “Value”-price Spanish Priorat
    “Value”-price Chateauneuf-du-Pape

I’d love to hear your take on any of these.

  • Looking forward to the Sherry episode!

QOTD: Sangria… Take a bunch of different wines and experiment with blending juice and spirits into it.

Have the wrist bands been sent out yet? I haven’t seen it yet.

  • Robert F

Love the couch episodes! I was curious about that pavie also – good call! I also know nothing about jerez, xeres, sherry, whatever, so i’ll be looking forward to that.

QOTD: I’d like to see a show on prosecco or cava. You’ve done a couple shows on champagne, but not many sparklers outside of the region. (plus we all know how much you love sparkling wine!)

    I love laid-back Fridays!

    I’m all about the Sherry.

QOTD: Grappa – its made from grapes?:) Cognac? Finger Lakes wines like Great Western bubbly vs. Cali bubbles vs. French or Spanish bubbles: good education for us trying to celebrate something but don’t want to spend more than 20 beans, go too far from the local grocery store or standard liquor store, get a head ache or think too much? Tall order? Gary V can handle it.

    Keep it FRESH.

    How about:
    – Left v. Right (St Estephe v. St Emilion).
    – Bring Tom Ciocco on with some Italian grapes we’ve never heard of. For that matter …
    – California takes on Italian grapes.
    – Bierzo! Have you done Bierzo yet?

  • dOtis

    QOTD: double blind tasting.

GV: Have you guys ever though about filtering out the worthless comments? Maybe your friends over at digg could help you out with this, there system seems to work pretty well. The reason I bring this up is because worthless comments are what kept me from leaving comments for the longest time. I think they are counterproductive, and cheapen the entire commenting system. Thats my two cents.

    Theme: Sierra Foothill Zins
I know Sierra Doc whould support this one. How about a horizontal tasting of Amador and El Dorado county zins? The Vayniacs may not be aware of these great wines.

    3. Fat or phat? Michel Roland
    4. Ultimate Pinot Smackdown!!!! Helen T. vs. DRC!!!!!

Good show. We’ll check out the 2001 Truchard Syrah.

QOTD: I like the suggestions from other comments: Tempranillo, Priorat, and I really like the Sangria exercise — you can really get your creative juices flowing on that one….

    Have a great weekend

  • QOTD: Themes? Let’s get rare. How about Georgian wines? I understand they’ve been making wines longer than anyone in the whole world, and their wines are supposedly great. But hard to get ahold of now, because of the Russia-Georgia trade disputes.

    QOTD: Verticals

    QOTD
    1- Stags Leap
2- Wines with odd names like Bored Doe from S. Africa
3- Canda Vs. the US in a glass to glass showdown
4- Washington State Vs. California to see who really brings the thunder on the west coast
5-Boutique wineries might be interesting too.

  • Man, I love the Friday shows! I’m waiting for the day when a bird goes kamikaze right into one of the windows in the back.

QOTD: Going to think about it for a while, but that’s a great one.

Gary, stop avoiding it!! Nothing goes better with sushi than cold premium sake. You are kidding yourself if you think that a sauv blanc, reisling or any other white wine can complement sushi as well as sake. Do a show on sake or else the sushi fans (growing exponentialy) will continue to be disappointed.
    Great show.

QOTD: We need Sir Gary Vaynerchuk to do an episode on Ports.

Denise who? #1 fan and out of the loop at the same time? I think not… =)

Vinny Testaverde… in Spanish slang, his name means “green-balls”. Go figure.

  • Bossman

    Hey Hollywood,

If you’re stankin’ software didn’t put my comment into “awaiting moderation” status because of the egrigious and unforgivable act of giving you a link to a Herm Edwards article (tell me though would you want to be known as Herm?) you would’ve seen I also suggested you try Ball Buster amongst all my other astute comments. I can’t tell you how many emails I’ve rec’d stating that that was the first show in months I haven’t commented on (mainly because I haven’t found any yet). Er, ball buster? …. and you were expected a refined, subtle, ethereal experience were you? not a 15.5% fruit blast? I think it’s in the order I rec’d today, sounds like a good Sat night at home wine to me, but that’s just me.

My QOTD for you: how come I can get a 2 case shipment of 24 diff wines in 2 days when ordered on, arguably, WL’s busiest day of the year and we’re now on 2 weeks after the crumb hunt and I STILL haven’t rec’d the new wristband?
My camera’s battery is about dead, dude.

I am without doubt the #1 fan, show me one other NY State resident with a Vayniac license plate and I’ll defer.

Good show, nice level of energy, this weekend lay up on the email and spend some quality time with the fam. You’re at your most successful point in your career to date, take some time chill out and savor the moment with you’re loved ones (and don’t lose sight of what’s important), stay grounded.

QOTD: Theme – do a Pirate show, wear an eyepatch, a faux peg leg, and drink you’re swill out of jugs marked XXX.

Ssshhh – don’t say anything but I think we have a comment snob in our midst.
