qotd: gv man, i’m all behind the sherry episode, and you might as well swing next door for port as well while you’re at it.

but aside from those things, i’d really like to see a show on some of the lesser known italian varietals, specifically focusing on, say, regions north of tuscany.

and do some more wacky science projects… freeze a wine, boil a wine, launch a wine with a slingshot, filter a wine through a sock to see if you can make burgundy… whatever.

    have a good weekend y’all

QOD- Wines you would drink if the jets get to 12-0 this year.Or wines you would drink to kill the pain when they actually scrape there way to 4-8 with only a slim mathematical chance for a wildcard.

  • Russ J

Sheesh, one of my selections gets chosen and it’s the time I throw out The Ballbuster for laughs! Good show anyway!

Tough rant on Vinny, GV. I think he still has family in Elmont…..Better watch your step. He’s taller than Conan. Could get ugly.

I noticed that you mention that you respect RP a lot. But I have noticed, you never seem to agree with him. I am interested for a comment back. Not a big fan myself of RP, am fan of GV.

Hahaha Gary SHOULD have been a perfume guy… we’d end up with stuff like “Eau de Bordeaux” and such.

QOTD: I like the idea of a sparkler themed show. Maybe “Bubbles under 20 Bones”… There’s a lot of good bubbly out there coming from other places besides Champagne…

Gary, I was thinking why not do a special tasting from everystate in the US. I think it is very important to relay the information that it is not only Cali and imports that make amazing wine. If the 365 movement is to reach the far ends of the world, (which would be truly the greatest thing to happen to the wine world) we must spread the word that great wine can come from anywhere and everywhere!!! Let me know what you think about this topic.

Aright GV – Here are the themes that are gonna win you the Oscar:

    1) Wines for seducing the opposite sex

    2) Labels that start with a G or a V. 😉

    3) Wines on which top-notch wine critics disagree. (Only wines where there’s a 5 or more point disagreement by Parker, Spectator, etc.)

    4) Wines that will get you punched in the face by a sommelier, but that you want to drink anyway

    5) Wines that pair well with hagus [or M&Ms, or artichokes, or some other weird food]

    6) Organic wines

    7) Wines that appear in “Sideways”

    8) Wines with the best descriptions of themselves on the label

    9) Pretentious American wines that come from “chateaus”

    10) Wines so outside the price range of WLTV viewers’ budgets that we can skip the episode and wait for the next one

Tried the 2002 Pavie at a tasting, was very impressed.

QOTD â?? How about 2005 Bordeaux under $15 that you have in stock. Would be interesting to get your take on some of the lesser know Chateauâ??s, mostly from satellite appellations, that we all see in our local wine shops and think â??$9.99 can this be good? 2005 is a great vintage….is this better than an avg. $10 Cali Cab., etcâ?.

    Thanks man.

QOTD: I just watched Episode 106 (with Super Tasting footage), and I think the question that ended that episode would make a good theme. What are the best wines we have never heard of?

“a little truffle action too, let’s get really serious” OMG HAHA CAN’T STOP LAGHING!
Excellent show Gary, great questions answered, but super boring picks 🙁 …
Theme: Culture wines, that is, super under the radar wine regions, you know bring the georgian, italian under the shadows, etc.. And I’m very pumped at the sherry tasting….
    Have a nice weekend Gary!

Oh, I just thought of another possible theme. How about a food-wine pairing show, like “What’s the best wine to have with double-cheese pepperoni pizza?” (I vote for something with a lot of Negroamaro in it, like Salice Salentino. Aglianico also works very well in my opinion. Sangiovese seems to be a popular choice. What else do people have with pizza? Zinfandel? Syrah? Barbera?)

You could taste the food and wine separately, and then together, and comment on how the food changes the taste of the wine and vice versa.

FREEZE IT UP…I also hope you do the WLTV Super Tasting in NYC. That would be off the hook. No need to drive home.

Sitting out on the deck with a glass of Four Vines Zin watching the G-Man on my new MacBook Pro laptop. Amazing technology.

First off, great show. Thank goodness you liked the Truchard. Whew! I loved it.

Freezing wine? I know this answer hands down. Being a dummy, I come home asking myself which wine should I have cold vs room temp? First glass, room temp, I place the bottle in the freezer and FORGET ABOUT IT! I “defrost” the wine and try it. Well, I’ll let the G-Man decide.

QOTD: I’m still asking for SEAFOOD WINES, i.e. what wines go with fish, crabs, seafood paella, or mussels. Or you can do an East Coast, specifically VIRGINIA WINES. They have come a long way baby!

    Cheers!

P.S. Vinny sucks and is a traitor as do the Pats. Randy Moss??!!! Pleae. We will spank them again, even with Randy Moss.

Great show Gary – will look for the Truchard – thanks.

QOTD: Can California Napa Cabs age compared to Bordeaux? Your own Taste of Paris – take a ’90 Chateau Montelena and a ’90 Ridge Montebello and put them up against a ’90 Pichon Longueville Baron Pauillac and a ’90 Leoville Barton St. Julien. Let’s settle this thing WLTV / Vay-ner-chuk style!

QOTD: Wines from states that aren’t known for their winemaking abilities – we just received a bottle of non vintage Biltmore Estate American Pinot Noir from a friend in North Carolina, that we’re reluctant to taste because then we’ll have to comment on it to him.

    Very enlightening show.

  • Gary !
    Really nice episode.
I think Chenin Blanc deserves much much more attention than it gets. The Loire valley is one of the most intriguing old world regions. Moulin Touchin is a great example of a beautiful Chinin Blanc and it has a super duper cool story too.

QotD : Since the dessertwine theme is allready suggested, how about wines that are changing the wine world as a theme for next week.

  • QOTD: How about a Long Island red’s theme. Maybe you can get your hands on the Grapes of Roth (Roman Roth’s private label wine RP Gave it a 90+) LI reds rarely get any love.

Great show….both this one and the late night show!

QOTD: Pinotage…..Pintoage…Pinotage……curious about this one. I am guessing that this and pinot noir are completely differennt….I am a novice, clue me in Master Wine Critic!
