QOTD: A friend of mine collects knives and saw one that he really liked but did not purchase it and was regretting it after. I went back to the store and purchased it for him and gave it to him as a gift. But that was last week, I should probably get busy doing something really nice this week as well.

We’re went to the lady next door, who has just gotten out of the hospital, got past the live-in nurse, and offered our services as neighbors. Wine not an option in her case.

Great wines and you’ve inspired me to pull some goodies out of the cellar for a dinner this weekend with the little woman’s work associates from Albuquerque. Now to pair them with some venison or lamb? Hmmmmmm

QOTD: The nicest thing I did for somebody was maybe yesterday. I had a customer who called us from NYC;she was flying in here to LA for some kind of event and she had arranged a cheese platter and some bottles of wine from my shop to be delivered to the place she was going when she got here. When I took the order initially, I thought to ask her if there would be a wine opener there – she said no, but she’d throw one in her bag from home. Well, apparantly she only packed a carry-on, because of course when she got to airport security they didn’t let her take it on the plane. So she called us to have an opener included in her order. Thing is, we don’t carry any (except the Rabbit) right now. But I knew she was pressed for time – my boss was about to tell her she’d have to stop for one on the way from the airport– but I told her I’d be willing to run down to the liquor store and get one for her. So I did, included it in her delivery, and she seemed really grateful that I went the extra mile to help her out.
Kind of a small thing, but it felt good to help out a stranger for no reason other than knowing it would aleviate some of her stress.

I’ve had the last wine man, it is PHENOMENAL! They have it at the store near where I live in CT…It’s a great wine to bring to parties, etc.

QOTD: Mowed 3 lawns for three friends of my parents that cant get out of the house anymore….for free.

When I took her to the vet last month to be spayed, they confirmed what I already suspected — she was already going to have kittens. Apparently, most people just let them abort the kittens in this situation, but I couldn’t let them do that. I’m going to find good homes for them instead.

My cat had the kittens yesterday, and she is so happy. I definitely don’t regret the decision.

Love all the sniffy sniffs!

Had the Guigal at a five course tasting meal paired with five Guigal wines. The Chateauneuf du Pape Rouge was paired with pan roasted alaskan halibut with french green lentils and balsamic vinegar reduction. The sweetness of the vinegar helped with the wine, but it was kind of an odd experience. Thin but fluttering all about. Plus, it doesn’t have the cool Chateauneuf du Pape bottle insignia work going on.

QOTD: Not driven my car for three weeks? Instead choosing to bike everywhere. Which, incidentally, means no big trips to the wine shops and no riding the bike with bubbly in the backpack…

That was the bomb G ….. Love the Chateau du Pape dude —- Always a great blend of wonderful…
