    Way to go Jeff!!

QOTD: I paid for my sisters wedding this summer so she and her new husband wouldn’t have to use all of their savings just to have one. Our father is disabled and our mother passed 4 years ago so they were going to have to do it on their own. She works for a non-profit and he is a school teacher, so not a lot to go around. But that’s what family is for!

I still remember my first Chateauneuf-du-Pape, a 1962 Chapoutier. This was in 1972, at Chez Panisse in Berkeley. I went out and bought two more bottles of it the next day. It kills me to remember the prices- the meal was $8.00, prix fixe, and the wine was something like $9.00.

Hey, Gary. The price for the bags is great, but didn’t you say the shipping was free? It’s still showing up as a $6.00 charge. Which is correct?

QOTD: House sat and took care of the beagle for my ex-wife.

Ok, Gary, I love your “Sniffy-sniff… SNIFF!)

QOTD:… Nicest thing… Ok, I hate brining my job into this, but the nicest thing I think I’ve done lately was save a man who was having a MI. aka, heart attack. I’m a paramedic, so I’m called at the worst times normally… Ok, that’s all I’ll say.

Gary, I passed this episode along to 20 of my people! Keep it up! Thank you!

Thanks for the CdP show! I’ve always thought Pegau is one of those wines that could easily sell for $100+, but still manages to be reasonable. It truly is a special wine.

QOTD: One my friends is having a baby today – so I am going to bring him a bottle of Krug MV

We went to a farmers market this weekend & we were standing in line for some beverages. This little kid, no more than 8yrs old walked away from the counter with a handful of food & soft drinks & the $$ change in the other. Unknowingly he dropped a couple of Benjamins & some coins. I could’ve easily taken it to add to my WL slush fund but I picked it up & walked it over to him & his dad.
    Now how cool am i……

QOTD: Man GV, hate to pat yourself on the back!! I’m going to go with being a Cub Scout leader for 12 new 1st graders for the 3rd year running. Great kids, good families, just getting started on the adventure of Scouting. Really, it’s MY privelege to get them going, not vice versa. Life is good!! Thanks for your good work, Gary.

Thanks Jeff! GaryV: I just emailed at least a dozen people last week telling them to check you out, and in the email I included a collection of about 10 URLs (some of your episodes, the Ellen Show, the O’Brien show, and the Slate and WSJ articles). Yeah buddy, I’m passing you along. Love ya man (*bashfully self-conscious guy-hug*)

QOTD: I try to do nice things ALL THE TIME, but the latest? Hmmmm… well, I cooked a rockin’ gourmet dinner for my ex-wife tonight. Whole-wheat organic linguine pasta; organic / free-range sausage sauteed in olive oil, onion, garlic, bell pepper; sauteed some fresh zuchini (yep, organic) in there with the sausage after the sausage is almost done, with some basil, cilantro, black pepper, chipotle pepper, and coriander; then simmered it in my own tomato sauce made from fresh home-grown (organic!) tomatoes; added a little sherry to the sauce; topped it off with black olives and grated parmesan and romano cheeses. It kicked ASS, if I say so myself. Because even ex-wives need to be pampered now & then.

QOTD: My grandmother passed on Thursday and we had the funeral yesterday. I made sure that I stepped up and helped out my parents in the funeral and the following family gathering at the Jones homestead. I wanted my mother and father too be able to visit with the relatives and tell stories of my father’s mother and not have to worry about hosting, cleaning or any of those details. It felt great to step up and help out. There is nothing quite as fulfilling as taking care of your loved ones.

Thannks Jeff! Flavio, never apologize for giving info. Thank you! Good show! I probably should have added the 1998 Guigal CdP (my first) as a transition wine a few days ago.

QOTD: Not talking about the last one. I made it a point 6 years ago to try to do 5 nice things a day. Just small things like acknowledging kindnesses of others with a simple wave or head nod. Or looking someone directly in the eye and saying ‘Thank you’ when they’ve done something nice for you even if it was completely trivial. Think of how immensely better our world would be if everyone would extend five kind acts a day. Just count them on your fingers.

    Hey Gary, Lurker commin’ out!!

So I found your site because I was supposed to do a presentation on any subject regarding wine for my wine appreciation class. (SJSU represent!) Anyway, I got the wl.tv word out there for SJ State, so hopefully you’ll get some new fans.

Love what you’re doing man, I’m learning a lot between my wine class and this site. Keep up the work!

I do not know what’s all the hype with E. Guigal’s 1999 Chateauneuf du pape that you mentioned (WS wine of the year 2001)!! I tasted it this year and It was good but it pulled a little Caspar action on me!! No more than 90 pts on my scale!! BTW, I just bought the weirdest bottle of Chateauneuf du pape, La fiole du pape, which is a mix from different vintages. The bottle is all morphed up and stained with a thick dusty layer!! I loved the wacky design and bought as a gift to a friend wine lover..I hope it tastes as good as it looks…Have you had this before? Cheers.

It’s true, they do make great gifts. Now y’all need to make a bag for carrying glasses in!
Is that the first wine to receive a rating of meh?
    Loved the Pennington/Clemens demo.
Atari 2600, in the proverbial hizzy. E. T. was no Raiders of the Lost Ark, and you know it as well as I do.
QOD: I’m in the nonprofit sector so I do nice things for a living.

I Went to Six flags Great America and decided to stop at a fast food place to get lunch. I Found a season pass on the floor and looked around but did not see anyone who looked like the picture. I found the owner when i sat down to eat and gave it back to him.

Jeff, kudos to you! thanks, thanks, thanks!!!!

QOTD: Stopped 7 times today to talk to a woman on the street in NYC who lives in my hood. She’s kooky, but really sweet. I see her maybe once a day. Today she comments to my wife that she’ll be “watching me” Lo, and behold, we connect like 7 times. As I said she’s sweet, but kooky, nonetheless, I stopped to chat each time I saw her. And actually, it made my day!!!

Hey, did I say I love CDP? I was going to buy a wine from Almaviva to celebrate, but now I’ll be buying the Pegau!!!!!

    And keep on “Sniffy-sniffin”!!!!!!!!

CDP is awesome! I agree – give ’em 13 grapes to play with and explore.
QOTD: Most recent nice thing I’ve done — filled in for our winemaker in the middle of crush so he could go to his best friends wedding.
