  • Thanks for the show Gary, and for your SQOTD – U.K., as you know.

QOTD – I’m not, have a couple of entry level basic, a St. Emilion and a Bord. Superieur, but no plans on breaking the bank to get any more.

Did you use “you and I” as your example of the least able wine makers? Even “you and I” could make a good 2005 Bordeaux? I think you are greatly underestimating our cumulative skills at making wine. I have faith. I think with your guidance we could be darn good.

So Garry I run a high end wine shop in Healdsburg and NEVER buy wine on line (I run a shop and get cost).
But I sprung for a couple based on your reactions to the wine and yes thats a screaming deal for wine from there and the year and all
QOTD: not good on positioning for 05 Bordeaux,But doing real good on Pinot from Anderson Valley from 05 and the Rhone as well ……and thats what i drink way more than Bordeaux!

My wife and I received a gift of a bottle of 2003 Chateau Lagnet- Bordeaux Superieur, last summer, from a Brazillian college student, studying in France, that came to the US to be a bridesmaid in our nephew’s wedding. So, we have one Bordeaux.

    Or invite me over…..

Had a couple of 05 Bordeaux, but they have not been easy to find. Sadly, the higher end wine stores here dropped the ball, and many of them ignored all the hype since so many recent vintages were hailed as great, so with the escalating prices, they decided to pass. What is it that is said about hindsight again? Anyway, QOTD, 2005 Chateaux Caronnes SteGemme, Haut Medoc, and 2005 Chateau Sainte Marie Grande Reserve. Nothing in the cellar yet, which is not radool.

Edmonton Canada, and thanks for the shout out!

Side-QOTD: Denmark Gary, Copenhagen Denmark! Sipping Aalto 04 – tastes like I would think a random barrel sample would taste like.

QOTD: Havn’t bought any – Being a student, and a lover of bourgogne, I’ve concentrated my cash towards 05 Bourgogne. Also 99 and 01 Barolo and brunello, so sorry to say, havn’t bought, or will buy, a single 05 bordeaux…

QOTD- I have ordered 33 bottles total, so I am in the 2005 game in a small way at a range of prices. Plus, there is still time to buy more, yes?

  • Hi Gary – I watch on my iPhone most of the time so I don’t get a chance to comment that often, but I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate not only your show, but the passion and vision you bring to what you’re doing.

Your mantra of “because you, with a little bit of me, we’re changing the wine world, whether they like it or not” is seriously empowering – it’s a cause that people can identify with and hook into, and get passionate about helping you with.

It’s even inspired us to take another look at what we’re doing here at clipmarks and remember that what we’re doing has the power to change the world as well and embrace that potential.

    So, thanks 🙂

In other news, it looks like our mutual friend Tara Hunt is coming out for BarCampNYC3 – any chance we could entice you out for a weekend of hard-core geekery? http://barcamp.pbwiki.com/BarCampNYC3

QOTD: I have spent every spair penny I have had for the last two years on 2005 bordeaux. (If I had more spair pennies, that might have ammounted to something).

I have gone to every wine shop in town, and no one here has the newest wine spectator. Very annoying. Perhaps you could post some scores from the new mag…

My first wine love was Bordeaux so it holds a special place in my heart. When I began hearing all the ’05 vintage hype, I took your advice and purchased wine futures for the very first time. And the excitement begins as I recently picked up a few bottles of the early arrivals. I’m looking forward to sharing these special wines with the special people in my life!!! That’s how I will spread the Thunder Thanks again Gary!!!

QOTD: No 2005s. Still living like a CKC member, but not for much longer.

Gary, you’ve done it. Long time lurker, first time commenter. I just wanted to thank you for over 300 fantastic episodes via iTunes. You mentioned that you may stop doing ratings. Please don’t. You have made it clear that every palate is different, so why not provide us with some kind of qualitative understanding of yours. I am a beginning wine drinker, and enjoy hearing your thoughts on each wine as well as the final score that is the summation of those thoughts.
