    Gary,

Thanks for your thoughts on the Williams Selyem bottles!

QOTD: I have no 2005 Bordeaux! Sad! I tried to get my Dad to help me purchase a case of it earlier last year, but he didn’t bite…understandably. So I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be fortunate enough to taste some at some point. We’ll see…

    Great show!

QOTD: we have 4 2005 burgandies and 4 2005 bordeauxs – including the Michel Rolland, Chateau Angelus and Chateau Haut Bergey Rouge which we got or are expecting from Wine Library, and some 2005 Joseph Drouhin Chablis Vaudesirs.

The wines on today’s show sound very interesting.

I’m glad the shirt/skin situation is successfully resolved. Didn’t Tom Jones insure his chest hair? You can’t be too careful.

After your last show about the 2005 I stopped at WL and a local wine shop and bought six different wines, all under fifteen dollars. Over that weekend I tried them all and the went back and bought several bottles of my three favorites. I know have about two mixed cases of 2005 Bordeaux. One of my favorites is the Ch. Ronan I picked up at WL.

QOTD: Unfortunately, I only have a couple ’05 futures coming. Partly because I didn’t feel I had established a good enough cellar for it (I know have…little too late), and partly because of the price (even for futures).

Gary…please do not stop scoring. I’m sure a lot of others will say this, and you know the reasons people like to hear a score. It helps a lot, but people also have to trust their palate at the same time and try things. But I don’t think that is a good reason to stop the scoring.

Good job GV, and gratz on making it to the 2-year mark! I have several bottles of 05, but no whites yet. Need to remedy that, as I love white Bordeaux.

I have one 2005’s. I was giving this Christmas and gave all of my futures away to friends and family. I am either the nicest guy is the world or the biggest idiot.

  • kBear

2005 seems to work for many vintages from Europe – would you be so kind to remind some of us part time lurkers what makes some years more magical than others – it’s not just the weather is it ?

  • Great show and it excites me to see the internet kid peruse a printed copy of the WS for his wine info. Since I work for one of the largest publishers in the world, it’s nice to see someone “reading” a magazine! Yes, it’s a great publication and my only subscription.

QOTD: ’05 Bordeauxs. I’m up the crick without a paddle. Hoping to get my hands on some Reignac which I adore so I guess I’ll need to make a trip to RP’s favorite wine shop in DC before they’re all gone!

    Cheers to Bordeaux!

I’m glad i’m stocked well in 2000’s…..they were “cheap” compared to 2005

Have to tell a story here. I am a pediatrician who two years ago knew nothing about wine beyond 2 buck chuck and Beujolais. Last February, I took care of a newborn of a Santa Ynez Valley winemaker and he gave me a bottle of wine and invited my family and I to tour the vineyard. It was so cool! Subsequently, my husband and I found your show, just as you went to Bourdeaux. On your recommendation, I bought 6 bottles from Winelibrary. I wish I had bought more, but now that I am into wine more seriously, I sure am glad I bought those bottles.

Those wines sound wonderful from your descriptions.

QOTD: We’re not posiitoned well for 2005 Bordeaux…but we’re not really trying to build a wine cellar yet. We’re just trying lots of different wines…more than anything. I expect we’ll get to try some.

QOTD: I have over 7 cases on pre-order and now I am looking for 7 more….still not sure where I am going to put them…may need to refer back to WLTV wine cellar episodes…Can’t wait for them to arrive in June 08.

Love the recommend on white Bordeaux….would love to see a show on these wines less than $20…if it is possible. Thanks!

    Peace and hair grease, brother!

  • Hi there Gary,

as you wanted to know, where the people are from, who watch your show, I can tell you I am from Burgenland, Austria, near Neusiedler See (lake).
My family has a small winery here and we produce white and also red wines. My father Wilhelm (Willy) is really a mastermind in my opinion but he only wants to sell our wines on word of mouth – by the way, it is not really a big winery, …

I am watching your show since last week and had a look on nearly every episode.
The one with your brother A.J. I liked very much because this brings really heart and family in your show – and your show is that huge “funky funk” – or how do you say it? – really great man – that´s really a great job you do!

The next days I am gonna talk with a friend of mine, who is responsible for advertising and talking about Burgenland wine – these weeks he was in NY – would have been a good time to know each other or to introduce you, because as you know we have very good wines here in Austria, especially in my home country BURGENLAND, YESSSSSSSS :-)))
Yes and I want to talk to him, setting up a Burgenland WINE TV, … to tell people about our wines here!
Maybe you want to come here and taste through some of our winerys? A wine journey/trip to Burgenland? Did you ever had one?

So you see I also posted my “website” above which is my profile at XING – a social community which started in Europe and has more than 5 million members now around the planet. There are a lot of “wine groups” there where I would like to post information about your show, if you allow it.

A big question from me to you:
can I watch your show live, too? I am always waiting until about 1 am to watch the next episode :-)) really, I am not kidding!
And what about the comments/tags in the video (do people, who watch the show can put some tags and hello, questions there? Is there a part at your website which explains that in an easy and short way?
Sometimes you tell your buddy at the cam – what is his name? Mark? – that he should link it, but there is no link or pop up which tells me what you just mentioned. So if people are not that familiar with your rapid english talking, it might be difficult to follow you and know what you are talking about :-)))

So, before I write a roman, I say a big hello from Burgenland, Austria,
wine region “Neusiedler See / Ruster Hügelland”, to you and all from the staff there at winelibraryTV.

See you tomorrow at episode #412, right?

    Cheers,
    Chris
