I love Bierzo wines! A favorite of mine is Palacio de Canedo – MaceraciΓ³n. I also enjoy Cuatro Pasos as mentioned below! As a Spanish teacher just sharing a pronunciation point: Bierzo is pronounced “Bee air so” (or “Bee air tho” with Castillian accent).

    I’ve tried a Bierzo before, really reminded me of Cab. Franc. It was pretty good. AMM

  • QOTD – Pepperoni pizza with curry on top! Take the pizza out half way through cooking, put curry powder on and then let it finish browning. So tasty!

    Great show!! I’m a huge fan of the Petalos and have had it many times before and completely agree with GV that you need to go find it. QOTD: MEAT!!! A lot of meat and cheese and then smoke it on my Traeger.

  • The Bierzo wines sound like good plays though liver and bacon and onions wouldn’t make my day in a nose. I usually make french pizzas or pissaladerie that is mostly onion though sometimes spinach and garlic as well.

    QOTD: I like funky toppings, like gorgonzola-pear-walnut, or rosemary roasted potatoes with caramelized onions. One of my favorite ever pizza toppings was green chile with pineapple and cashews. I used to get that when I lived in New Mexico, but it’s hard to find green chiles as a pizza topping outside of that state. πŸ™‚

    Oh, there’s a local pizza joint that does Indian toppings. They make an awesome palek paneer pizza (super spicy!), and my husband loves the butter chicken curry pizza.

    I’m going to search for some Bierzo wines. They sound really interesting.

    Pizza, when done right, is sauce and cheese, Gary, sauce and cheese.

    A little Sapporito’s thin square slice, for the morris county folks. It scoffs at your ‘toppings’.

    Other than that, a great show, gotta search out some stuff from this region!

    I was so excited to see you drink the Petalos. I have that very wine hanging on my wall in the basement! I got it in Bozeman, MT at a place that sells fresh fish and wine. Can’t wait to drink it now! I love the Hot Hawaiian at MacKensie River Pizza here in Billings, Montana. It has jalapenos, BBQ sauce, chicken, and pineapple. Very spicy and yummy.

    I love a good Spanish wine, but I’m not familiar enough with them. Thanks for continuing to expand my horizons. I will definitely look for Bierzo wines.

    QOTD: There are so many great toppings, but my favorite is probably pesto with roasted garlic, goat cheese and sun-dried tomato. Or smoked mozzarella with roasted red peppers and Kalamata olives. I’m not afraid of anchovies either.
