Good old GV coming through like a trooper from his own kitchen. Short episode but fun to see what’s in the fridge and what he’s drinking at home. Shocking to find out that in two days he’d only drunk less than half a bottle, and if this is what he is drinking at home why spit it out? Puzzling

  • QOTD: Right now, A Cono Sur Pinot Noir 2007 which I do not really like. Too “modern” for my palate…

Nice little show here Gary, quick and without any frills. Like it!

  • Dawn Marie

Finca Antigua Crianza 2005 – Spanish La Mancha region – It’s a blend of Tempranillo, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. I enjoy it for the $9 I paid for it.

Great freaking episode!!! I’ve been waiting for one of these. Ever since the hype started building on the ’04 Bordeaux I’ve been stock-piling I want to have my cake and drink it too..I think it’s gonna be tough to cellar more than a 1/2-case for longer than 5-6 years..I’m a Bordeaux NUT though! QOTD: we have some MacMurray Pinot Noir 2006 on the counter behind the bar.

Nice choice on the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. It’s phenomenal on tap, but bottle works as well.

QOTD: Las Rocas de San Alejandro Garnacha 2006. It’s tonight’s prey.

  • QOTD: 2005 Mouton Cadet. The “bastard child” is tickling my fancy at the moment, and my wallet appreciates the break.

In Grand Rapids MI right now. Went to a Tapas restaurant San Chez. Had a nice Roja Garnacha 2006, wife had a Don Nuño Oloraso. Great meals as tapas are about my favorite. Only one it didn’t go well with was the tortilla. With all of the eggs in the fridge maybe a review of wines that go with eggs to follow the bacon show.

  • Love to see these episodes! Nice backsplash in the kitchen, although it does look a bit masculine. I hope Lizzy has her own girl space, esp since I am still saying your having a girl.

QOTD: I have a Cab Franc from VA open right now.

QOTD : 2004 Cafaro Syrah – I ordered four bottles of random 375ml bottles that I haven’t tried before and that was the first one I opened. It was enjoyable but not my favorite.

I loved this episode. Just looking around your kitchen was fun in itself. There are several things that need to be addressed. First of all you have to lose the Special K. If Kahuna from the message board sees this there will be an entire thread about Gary trying to keep his girlish figure with the disturbing Photoshoped pictures.I don’t think my eyes can take it again.

Also I think that I have discovered the root of your high cholesterol that you spoke about on several old episodes. You have 5 thats right 5 Freaking dozen eggs in your fridge. You may want to tell your cardiologist about that one.

Sierra Nevada Pale ale. You can do better Gary. Try some of the Stone beers made in San Diego or some of the micro brews made along the front range of Colorado (the Napa Vally of Beer).

3 days to drink a bottle of wine. Come on Gary you need to pick it up. There is a recession going on. Everyone needs to pick it up and drink a little more. Business is slow and the winerys need our support. I know I am doing my part to help us drink ourselves out of the economic slowdown.

QOTD: we had a friend over for some wine and cheese. She brought over some blah chardonnay from Temecula that was barely drinkable. I broke out a bottle of Cavailier Bartholomeo 2004 Barolo that I had shipped from a little wine place in Jersey called wine library you should go there some time. I guy named Mott runs the place and is a great guy. Our guest took one drink of the Barolo and said “oh my” I think that says it all.

    Gary,

I’ve got the best idea for your show. You want to increase the palate experience, and what better way to do so than to try wine from different countries. I searched for Romanian wines on your website but I found none. You should do a Romanian wine show (like the German one). There is a ~3000 year old wine tradition in Romania that isn’t spoken much about (sadly). Anyways, great show and I hope to see more.

QOTD: Black Oak Italian Pinot Noir

Gary, Excellent show, great effort on your part to get a show out. Honest delivery and who can dislike 2004 Bordeaux. Very cool with all your families success that your dad is stil raising chickens for fresh eggs. Stay true to your families humble roots. I know sometimes I send you a few bad reviews but you know I am a big fan of what your doing, especially your work ethic. Still have not missed one show from the begining of WLTV

By the way, Gary, next time in your kitchen it would be nice for the Wayner Nation to get a glimpse of Liz.

Nice show Gary, Thanks for inviting us into your home. I don’t have any ’04 bordeaux, but I’m loaded up on ’05s. Hope I made the best choice. Today my counter is empty, But for “daily”, low cost drinking I like Bogle Phantom & petit sirah, & Flavium Crianza. On the opposite spectrum, I open an occasional “Blackbird” — an excellent but hard to find Napa Pomerol-like blend. My cellar is filling up, so my choices are extensive. Keep up to great job.

  • QOTD: Opened up a 2007 Mastroberadino Mastro White last night. It’s in the fridge now as opposed to the counter. Very nice wine.

Gary, I’m curious, you’ve probably covered this before, but what do you re-close your open wine up with? We use the standard Vacuvin thing.

Cool episode…nice that it was short or I would have gotten seasick from the camera motion (that’s just me, not you). Interesting that the wine opened up more on the third day.
Oh, Lizzie would kill you if she knew you didn’t shut the kitchen cupboard doors!

Qotd: Well, I know Gary wouldn’t approve of this so much, but I have some Bruchetta in the fridge. I also have an assorted collection of liquor, whiskey, vodka, gin, etc. to drink from, but I don’t break into that stuff as much as I used to. I think there is some bud lime in the fridge that someone left too now that I think about it. Pretty much the typical ckc stuff except for the wine.

lucente- toscana 06 red label. Question of the day for GV: when you say 3 days, do you use a vacuum pump each time, or decanter to begin with, or just cork on the counter? what is the story from when you pop till the video? please and thank you!
