Good old GV coming through like a trooper from his own kitchen. Short episode but fun to see what’s in the fridge and what he’s drinking at home. Shocking to find out that in two days he’d only drunk less than half a bottle, and if this is what he is drinking at home why spit it out? Puzzling

QOTD: There’s a 2003 Yamhill Valley Pinot Noir Reserve from Oregon that’s been on my counter since last Sunday (vac-u-vin’d). It’s the last one of three bottles that I’ve drunk over several years. I’m having a hard time getting past the fact that it tastes more like a Syrah than a PN, and the alcohol is too high, 14.8+. A big disappointment, given the scores and the price.

Good episode, nothing wrong with farm-fresh eggs. QOTD: nothing right now, but the night is young.

Have some 2005 Artesa “Elements” Red going, and it’s outstanding. Chocolate, leather & dark fruit on the nose. Love drinking this stuff, and when the glass is empty, sniffy-sniffing the remaining fumes is fantastic. I agree with you that the smell of a wine can be even better than the flavor — even when the flavor is great!

Question Gary: What wine, if any, would you drink with Mexican food? I’m talking basic food like beef tacos or shredded beef enchiladas. Any ideas?

    Hi Gary,
Decided to come out of lurking to say that I love the show! I’m a proud member of the CKC and have decided to drop beer for a while to expand my palette. Seeing how much you get out of wine inspired me to start trying as many types of vino as i possible and I’ve learned a lot. Thanks!

Fresh real eggs have such a yellow yolk it’s like sunshine in a shell.

Right now I have an empty space for a friday night bottle from my little wine locker. After, just now, watching gary’s video on it I am going ot opt for the 04 Cavalier Barrtolomeo Barolo. It sounds so good I am drooling!

I am saving the Bacon episode for later after I make some simple pork chops for dinner. Ala Gary’s video on the Barolo.

This might get to sit around for three days before I finish it. Always fun to watch the taste evolve.

    Happy weekend!

QOTD – ’03 Chateau Lamartine Cahors and the Maligny Chablis Vau De Vey. It was surf & turf this week;-)

While the shaky camera action makes me crazy, I do enjoy these little diddies… and they are a much better option than no show at all!! It makes us feel good that you care 🙂

QOTD: Torrevento Salice Salentino Rosso 2003. Very dark and rustic -and still a little tight! Tomorrow may yield fantastic results…

QOTD: 2004 Bouchard Aine & Fils Volnay “Less Grands Poisots”

I’m with you on the ’04 vintage even in Burgandy, although I think the whites did a little better. I paid 25 bones for this wine and I am very happy with it. Brings all the aromas and structure of a village level pinot that I am looking for. Cheers!

How do you know you’re turning into a true vayniac? You read all 210 comments that came before you before posting. Next time you do a flip-cam-home episode, can you show us your wine cooler? Oh, and I loved the low key version of “you, with a little bit of me, we’re changing the wine world” today.

QOTD: As I watch I’m drinking a 2002 Perdriel del Centenario, a special edition Norton winery Mendoza blend of Malbec, Cabernet and Merlot. Very classy.

Nice little show here Gary, quick and without any frills. Like it!
