Good old GV coming through like a trooper from his own kitchen. Short episode but fun to see what’s in the fridge and what he’s drinking at home. Shocking to find out that in two days he’d only drunk less than half a bottle, and if this is what he is drinking at home why spit it out? Puzzling

  • On my table right now is a bottle of Monte del Fra 2001 “Monte Fritti” IGT Italian Wine made from Corvina. Very delicious dark red berries combined with complex earthy aromas – almost barn-like flavours.
I like it a lot – not like anything you get in the local supermarket. Those wines are often to “easy to drink” and too “polished” – and providing very little resistance passing your palete.

Why do I drink this tonight……??? I have just been sacrificied because of the current financial situation – I have been dismissed from my job as a internal sales guy after 3 years of hard work…. so I needed something good to turn my atention to.
To all you out there – keep up the spirit and hang on to you job as long as you can and as long as you still like it.

This is now 4 hours after opening showing ripe plumb, bitter chocolate and coffee flavours.

    Great stuff.

Gary: Get a tripod – you are making me dizzy!

    What am I drinking today?
I found what I am calling possibly “the best value ever” at my local grocery store in the Seattle area. 2007 Bodega Privada Malbec (Mendoza). $5.99 !
I’ve been drinking a lot of Argentina Malbec lately, and this rates right there with most in the $15+ range. I’m going back to buy all they have.

This episode had a big “Cloverfield” feel to it. Good to shake things up once in a while, but I’m glad I wasn’t drinking while watching; I would have gotten sick.

Gary, my mom has chickens and occasionally turns my fridge into an egg wherehouse too.

    QOTD: currently between bottles

I really like the occasional short episode from the road or at home. Keep ’em coming.

I take it you eat a lot of eggs. I used to eat a whole lot of them but suddenly developed an egg allergy. Now they make me horribly sick. Strange.

QOTD: I’m working on a bottle of 2005 Potel-Aviron Moulin A Vent right now.

  • Hey, Gary V (or Lizzie) drinks Sierra Nevada! Awesome! Major props to that brew — not only is it as great beer, it’s also brewed right here in my hometown of Chico, CA. An excellent choice, my friend!

QOTD: all sorts of kitchen appliances and spices that I use in cooking.

  • First off, Honey Nut Cheerios is where it’s at for breakfast cereal. It even helps lower your cholesterol, offsetting that bacon & eggs diet.

QOTD: 2008 Zaràfa Pinotage. $4 from Trader Joe’s and a great weekday drinkin’ wine.

Change is good. I think it’s a great idea that you brought us into your house. It just goes to show that you are real and genuine.

On the counter: Loma Gorda 2006 (Also on its third day, So solid for the price point. Hwy 66 Burnt Rubber collides with a little barnyard fun. Did someone once mention “Real”?
