On my table right now is a bottle of Monte del Fra 2001 “Monte Fritti” IGT Italian Wine made from Corvina. Very delicious dark red berries combined with complex earthy aromas – almost barn-like flavours.
I like it a lot – not like anything you get in the local supermarket. Those wines are often to “easy to drink” and too “polished” – and providing very little resistance passing your palete.

Why do I drink this tonight……??? I have just been sacrificied because of the current financial situation – I have been dismissed from my job as a internal sales guy after 3 years of hard work…. so I needed something good to turn my atention to.

I found what I am calling possibly “the best value ever” at my local grocery store in the Seattle area. 2007 Bodega Privada Malbec (Mendoza). $5.99 !
I’ve been drinking a lot of Argentina Malbec lately, and this rates right there with most in the $15+ range. I’m going back to buy all they have.

This episode had a big “Cloverfield” feel to it. Good to shake things up once in a while, but I’m glad I wasn’t drinking while watching; I would have gotten sick.

QOTD : Boekenhoutskloof, Porcupine Ridge Syrah (South Africa). Nice toasty French Oak – gives it a hint of hermitage (But only £5.25!). Good value.
