Good old GV coming through like a trooper from his own kitchen. Short episode but fun to see what’s in the fridge and what he’s drinking at home. Shocking to find out that in two days he’d only drunk less than half a bottle, and if this is what he is drinking at home why spit it out? Puzzling

  • No lie, I have no friends that own stemless glasses. I have them, however I never use them – now I feel bad lol.

  • Love the short shows Gary!

QOTD: I’d be lying if I said I was drinking anything other than 2006 Banknote.

I feel like I’m finally getting to know you. Your ‘real’ personality shows through when you tape from home. I wish Lizzie would have walked through the kitchen while you were taping!
qotd: I’m drinking our ‘house’ red: Abrazo del toro, 2004 reserva Carinena, 1/3 ea: syrah, cabernet, merlot. Excellent QPR wine. Imported by Evaki, Inc., San Luis Obispo, Ca. 93401.

    At home with Gary V!

I’ve had the 2005 Chateau Latour Martillac a while back. An amazing wine in my opinion. Young, firm and fresh. A couple years down, this wine’ll rock!

QOTD: Tonight it’s a 2006 Saumur-Champigny from Louis Laroche. Amazing! Cab Franc, but it smells/tastes like it might have some Gamay in it. Good stuff with nice flavors and aromas.

    Keep it up! Love y’all!

  • Nice kitchen. Those brushed metallic tiles on the counter are cool.

Graves wines are kind of like that: olives and branches and dried strawberries with dark chocolate. Nice. (though three days is a lot more than I would dare drink a wine, and probably haven’t passed the two day mark myself.)

QOTD: tonight we’re drinking a Riscal Rueda-

It’s a fun format, short and to the point.

QOTD … Day #2 of Barone Cornacchia Montepulciano D’abruzzo Le Coste 2004 from my first order from WineLibrary.com

I knew I liked you when I met you in Sioux City … must have been the Cap’n Cruch vibe. Being a wine guy, I can only assume that Crunchberries are your FAV!

QOTD for you… What is the proper wine pairing to bring out the berries in the Crunchberries?

I laughed when you showed all the eggs and said your dad has some chickens – loved it. Oh, and I got a smile out of your HP sauce. Eeeek, not my favorite.

Good show – just keep the camera a little more still and you’re good.

QOTD – I have a Mommessin Beaujolais open right now. I hated it the first day as it was way too watery for me. However, I liked the sourness of it the 2nd day. I’ll finish it tonight.

    Peace, SW

    Gary,

I enjoyed the episode- short and sweet! Tonight I made coq au vin with Rhea Pinot Noir 2006 from Willamette Valley and my husband and I drank the rest. Nothing too complicated, bright red cherry and nice acidity. The wine is a bit “hot” though. However, as you eat and drink, the alcohol becomes less intense. Wouldn’t drink it by itself, but ok with food.

  • QUE

QOTD Casa Silva Carmenere “Reserva” (not that that means anything in chile) 2006. Second day open. Wow, i guess I am losing my touch!

Thanks for the show, love’em all!

QOTD: Haven’t had any wine since last friday when I opened up Jean Edwards Cellars Syrah. Though I do have an open bottle of Solerno Blood Orange liqueur that I’ve been sipping on (addicted to blood oranges).

  • I just got my own Big Ass glass today for my birthday. A studio-line Rosenthal Burg glass (it’s beautiful, what a stem!!!).

QOTD: 06 L de Lyeth. Long live Merlot!

PS- Straight up Cap’n Crunch or w/Crunch Berries?

QOTD: The Primitivo that I got from this month’s Taste-along-with-Gary wine club.
I have to admit, I enjoy some of these shorter shows, where it’s more focused on one wine or type and less about meeting people and having the long yak-fests. I think lately it’s gotten to be too much, and it’s time to pull it back to the older format, keep it shorter, and of course keep it real, Gary!

It’s always stemless at Chez Robert. 🙂

QOTD: Cline 2007 Viognier. Don’t know how to pronounce it yet, but I’m loving it in Seattle. My first ever viognier. Thanks for expanding my palette, GV.

Gary, the look through your fridge was a little strange and hilarious.

Right now I’m drinking a Hanssens Oude Kriek lambic because I tasted a lot of wine today and wanted something totally different.

Loved this, & big ups to Captain Crunch! That Sierra Nevada Pale Ale in your fridge is a killer brew.
QOTD: Primus (Veramonte) 2005 Merlot/Cab Sav/Carmenère. Nice, but too young.

Hey Gary. I have three wines though not drinking altogether, FrancisFordCoppola blue label Merlot 2005, Jacob’s Creek Reserve Pinot Noir vintage 2006, Beaulieu Vineyard or BV Coastal Estates Pinot Noir 2006 vin de pays duc, I just type as I read. Wisconsin.

Not a fan of pale ale, I’m more of a porter or wheat beer guy.

QOTD: 2007 Bodegas Luzón Jumilla, Wine Enthusiast’s ’08 #1 value of the year! I’ve certainly had better, but you can’t beat the $9 price tag.

  • QOTD-some Domaine Valambelle Millepeyres 2007 from Faugeres. Checking it out for our biological wine-by-the-glass list..The usual grenache-carignan-mourvedre-syrah-cinsault blend (and what a blend it is). Not too impressed, but it’s late, like four in the morning over here in the Netherlands, so might not be tasting it right…
